One of the things I'm working on with Weinam is national witch hunts. Similar to those famously of Salem and Great Wenham in the UK. I'm curious to know if other TWI would be interested in mass witch hunts across the years of 1602-1699, like a regional fear and action.

The Almorean Air Force is led by the President, who is the constitutional commander-in-chief of all the military assets of the Almorean nation.

The President appoints a civilian Secretary of the Air Force to administer the Air Force on a day-to-day basis, and this official reports to the Secretary of War, who is the top civilian head of the Almorean military. The Air Chief Marshal, the Air Force's highest-ranking officer, leads Air Force General Headquarters (AFHQ).

The basic organization of the Air Force can be broken down as follows.

  • Air Force General Headquarters- the overall headquarters of the Air Force, as the name indicates. AFHQ manages all operational aspects of the Air Force and is responsible for military intelligence gathering, asset management, and the development of war plans.

  • Supply Command- led by an air vice marshal, and responsible for the Air Force's logistics: supplies, fuel, ammunition, and repairs.

  • Training Command- led by an air vice marshal; oversees the Airmen Training School, the Air Force Communications Academy, and the officers' Air Force Institute.

  • Trannsa District- led, as are the other districts, by an air marshal. Provides protection for the economically-vital provinces of Adashawnee and Baranor, and provides protection for Almorean and foreign VIPs, such as the President and foreign dignitaries.

  • Northern District- provides assets covering the northern provinces of Gavshin and Frasyrland, and operates the National Aerospace Tracking and Defense Command (NATDC).

  • Central District- provides assets covering the provinces of Roonmore, Talavora, and Warenne Island.

  • Southern District- provides assets covering the provinces of Queensland, Gray Hills, and New Arvan. The Southern District shares forces with Almorea's partners in ALDRATO and the Raedlon Organization of States, Dragao do Mar, Nhoor, and New Totzka.

  • Air Force Reserve- a pool of 4,000 enlisted personnel, as well as 500 temporary volunteers drawn from the National Volunteer Corps, which provides short-term armed volunteers to supplement the Almorean military's domestic capability.

Equipment
The Air Force uses a variety of aircraft and other weaponry. Many Almorean warplanes are made in Corindia, while Noronica has also supplied technology. Almorean manufacturers are important to the Air Force, as they supply repair kits and spare parts for foreign-made fighter jets. To avoid having to purchase expensive licenses, the Almorean government encourages the Military Design Bureau (MDB), the military's development agency, to study and "borrow" foreign technology to provide workable models for domestic planes.

  • ALDRATO fighter jet. Still in development, this plane is being built by Almorean technicians and experts from Dragao do Mar and is expected to enter service in the early 2020s.

  • 30 MRF7 Águila. Built and outfitted by Corindi technicians, the Águila is Almorea's best fighter aircraft, and can effectively engage enemy air and ground assets. The government purchased 15 of these planes in 2015 and another 15 in 2018, for over $1 billion in total.

  • 17 GA2 Tarasque ground attack aircraft. Also a Corindi-built plane, the Air Force maintains a small fleet of them. Tarasque ground attack fighters used by the Air Force are equipped mainly with SEAD weaponry, and are intended to supplement the Army's mission of defending the homeland against ground invasion, as well as for use attacking enemy installations overseas.

  • 22 LinkTornado jets. Forty of these planes were bought by Almorean officials in the 1980s, but they have been phased out since 2010. In the present day, Almorea's fleet of Tornado fighter jets is equipped with air-to-air missiles and autocannons, giving them some capability in a dogfight, but many of the planes are plagued with mechanical issues.

  • 28 LinkA229 attack helicopters. Adopted in 2016, these helicopters are the best which Almorea can deploy. Compared to the A129, they have better avionics and weapons systems, such as being equipped to carry Thunderbolt missiles from Athara Magarat.

  • 19 LinkAgusta A129 attack helicopters. The Air Force has used this model since 1990, but many have been transferred to the control of the Army. These helicopters are mainly used for light patrol duties and would supplement the more powerful A229 models in combat.

  • 1 Lagartija helicopter. Made in Corindia. The Air Force bought one model in 2019 to test its capabilities, and may phase out the A129 in favor of the Lagartija by 2025.

  • 10 Matuasto transport helicopter. Corinidi-made.

  • 5 MRTT3 Iolaidh tanker transport. Designed by engineers in Noronica and Corindia, this aircraft has been used by the Air Force since 2012 to transport large quantities of troops and equipment for the other branches of the military. A sixth such aircraft crashed and exploded several years ago.

  • 41 LinkAvenger Air Defense System. Armed with heat-seeking surface-to-air missiles, these vehicles complement the Army's extensive anti-aircraft capability, and are used to guard Almorean shores against incoming hostile aircraft.

  • 7 HAR2 Corbeau recon aircraft. Made in Corindia.

  • 30 LinkEagle armored vehicles. Armed with light machine guns and used for transport and logistics duties, as well as by the Air Force's 150-man police unit.

The government has awarded a contract to Dynamo Industrial Solutions to produce small, Almorean-made drones equipped with antipersonnel shrapnel missiles.

Between 914 - 1914 (although more specific dates would have to be done depending on the location), the Khas-Kirat Empire (technically not an empire but a loose confederation) had these political states called "hangates" in almost every nation (in fact, it will be much easier to count the number of Isles nations that did not have a hangate...no joke). The way hangates worked was that, a Khas-Kirati tribes (aka the 36 Guns of Magarat) with large population would be granted "invasion rights" by the Mahang (who is kind like an elected Emperor but has to be from the same dynasty) to conquer a "new land" (by this, we mean territories not conquered by another tribe). The hangates had to pay annual tributes to the Mahang but were pretty much highly autonomous aside from that. Since Khas-Kirati men generally took the religion of their wives in Magarat, the system was carried out to the hangates and the Khas-Kirati rulers and soldiers generally took local wives; adopting the language, culture and religion of their spouses. Within two or three generations, the settlers would identify more with the locals than with their cousins from other hangates. This culture clash (fueled by other motivations) led to hangates fighting each other and the Khas-Kirat Empire was always in a state of internal war; and this is turn led to eventual decline of Khas-Kirati power while former tributaries (aka the Noronnican Kingdom), former colonies/territories (aka Domanania) or lands they used to raid for slaves and gold (aka Aizcona and Dormill-Stiura) rose in power.

And depending on what you want, you can either have just one hangate (like mist nations such as Aprosia, Townside or Wellsia) or multiple hangates (like San Montagna).

Also, over the years, the term hangate went from "new lands conquered by X tribe" to just "any state ruled by a hang or hangma". So yeah, there were loads of Argean Ipachi hangates and a few Nyssic or Doman ones as well.

I would definitely be open to having my nation be a hangate, possibly during the 1700s.

The Order of Higher Vargas is a multi-religious order founded by the Jirel shaman Phombo of Jiri, the "Khas-Kirati shaman" hired by Queen Magaidh of Noronica to banish the "Tri Sitraichean" (Nyssic: Three Witch Sisters) in the year 1236. Members of the order, who are referred to as the High Varga shamans or priests, are renowned for their animal companions referred to as "Vargas". The Varga animal is said to possess spiritual powers and the initiation rite involves the newer recruits finding out their Vargas and taming them. This practice slowly became the coming of age ceremony in the Khas-Kirat Empire and is still done today (albeit nowadays, the Magarati government provides Vargas to children when they reach 13 in order to reduce injuries or deaths related to "Varga-taming"). Membership in the order is open to holy warriors of all faith, nationality and gender.

The order was founded to unite "holy warriors" from various faiths in "combating the supernatural forces of evil" in the Isles. The order is widely acknowledged to have further advanced fledgling Munist system of Magarat region where individuals follow their own tribal beliefs as well as a foreign religion of their liking in syncretic manner as well as many other cultural norms. They were historically credited with "total banishment of witches" from the Khas-Kirat Empire, Kingdom of Noronnica and TBD nations in Late Medieval sources. In the year 2020, there were roughly 5,000 members of the order spread across the Isles.

The Athara Magarat National Army is the military of the Athara Magarati Federation of Hangates. The armed forces of the communist federation People's Republic of Chuli were disbanded in 1996 after the end of the 30th Parallel War and the fall of the United Central Communist Republics (UCCR). The modern-day Athara Magarat National Army was established in 1998 after the renewal of Magarati Arms Limitation Treaty was agreed between the Athara Magarati government led by Fimla Hangma and the Mesder Sea Treaty Organization (MSTO). To this day, concerns about a rearmed Magarat, even though severe restrictions have been imposed on it, remain both in and outside the country.

The Athara Magarat National Army is often described as a high-tech international crisis intervention force since Athara Magarat is forbidden from declaring or going to war. Although Athara Magarat is still forbidden from being a primary belligerent, she can now join the wars of her allies since the 2016 renewal of the Magarati Arms Limitation Treaty. Desperate to prove that their army can be used to for other purposes than just invading other countries, Athara Magarat was one of the first nations to join Noronica in both the Occupation of Arvan and the Allied Invasion of Charbagnia. Currently, the Athara Magarat National Army is involved in major anti-SHOCK operations in coordination with local paramilitary and police forces of the hangates and the Vancouvian Special Forces.

The Athara Magarat National Army is not especially popular with quite a significant number of the Magarati public. While other armed forces around the Isles might be the pride of their countries, the Athara Magarat National Army is rather seen as a necessary evil by most Magaratis and as an unnecessary evil by quite a few vocal minority. The Magarati leaders and hard-line militarist factions, on the other hand, want to increase the size of the army. The hard-line factions spread propaganda news of how the MSTO is preventing Magaratis from defending against border incursions or possible invasions by San Montagna, Razzgriz or virtually anyone else in the Isles. The newer Magarati generation, though firm supporters of the Magarati Arms Limitation Treaty, are mostly of the view that the current Magarati military is barely sufficient to defend a large nation like Athara Magarat. Thanks to the constant refusals by the MSTO to renew the treaty and propaganda spread by hard-line militarist factions, the newer Magarati generation is becoming more and more anti-MSTO. One of the factors leading to Jrm Hangma's election was her promise of increasing the Magarati land forces from 20,000 to double that number.

Despite the rising anti-MSTO trend, most Magarati citizens pretty much disrespect their armed forces. Magarati soldiers (excluding the fallen or traumatized individuals) are often portrayed as stupid and badly equipped by the Magarati media. This is highly in sharp contrast with the "brave" local paramilitary forces or the "smart, disciplined and professional" Gurkha regiments that are part of the United Noronnican Army or the Miklanian Army. In fact, most of the recruits in the Athara Magarat National Army are boys or girls who failed to qualify into the Noronnican Brigade of Gurkhas or the Miklanian Gurkha Regiment.

Current Status


The Athara Magarat National Army consists of about 20,000 active members with roughly 20,000 soldiers in the land-based Dragon Army, and 10,000 personals each in the Eagle Force and the Turtle Fleet.

As a result of the increased threat of terrorism, the Athara Magarat National Army has been committed to Operation Homeland since 2002 to assist the local police forces of the hangates with securing high-profile targets in major cities. After increase in SHOCK-related incidents, this military protection was expanded to include soft targets in the public space.

The Dragon Army is the ground arm of the Athara Magarat National Army. It is also known as the Guns of Magarat. This causes unfortunate implications as the Imperial Magarati Army was called the "36 Guns of Magarat". The various hangates of the Khas-Kirat Empire always called their armies as guns whether it was just 5,000 men or 20,000 strong.

The Dragon Army currently has 20,000 soldiers and 10,000 civilian staff. It is organised into two military divisions: Northern and Southern. Each division has 10 land-based guns, which are equivalent to a battalion of the armed forces of other countries.

We are not THAT Eagle Force


The Eagle Force is the air arm of the Athara Magarat National Army. The Imperial Magarati Air Force was also called Eagle Force; so was the air force of the People's Republic of Chuli. This current Eagle Force takes its name from the air force of the communist federation that existed after the Imperial War; not the air force of the empire that fought in the Imperial War. The modern-day Eagle Force is composed of an estimated 10,000 personals and 250 military aircraft. The Eagle Force also has two "elite air-borne guns" designated as "Talons" - the Yakthung Thibon and the Wallo Kirat Gun. Lieutenant-General Toran Poon is the current air marshal of the Eagle Force.

We are not THAT Turtle Fleet


The Turtle Fleet is the naval arm of the Athara Magarat National Army. One of the fleets of the Imperial Magarati Navy was called the Black Turtle Fleet. The navies of various hangates that were part of the Khas-Kirat Empire had names with the words "turtle", "serpent" or "dragon" added. For example, "Black Turtle Fleet", "Green Turtle Fleet", "White Turtle Fleet", "Blue Serpent Fleet", "Blue Dragon Fleet", etc. The modern-day Magarati navy derives its name from this tradition; not the Imperial Magarati Navy.

The Turtle Fleet currently has roughly 10,000 personals and 17 vessels; excluding 300 "Beast of Burden" amphibious landing craft. Admiral Sachita Karki is the current commander of the Turtle Fleet. Its current vessels, excluding the landing crafts, are:

The Half-Platoon Boat 22, also known as Beast of Burden, is a high-speed, multi-purpose amphibious landing craft developed by Athara Magarati firearms manufacturer Kukri Nation, for the Athara Magarat National Army.

The landing craft is intended for a variety of missions such as coastal area patrol, personnel transportation, coastal landing operations, fire support, counter-piracy, counter-terrorism, medical evacuation, assistance to vessels in distress, and other special operations.

Furthermore, the landing craft also has the ability to launch and retrieve an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV).

Beast of Burden multi-purpose landing craft design and features


The hull and superstructures of the landing craft are made from AMg alloys. The vessel has a length of 16.45 m, width of 4 m, a draft of 0.87 m, and a height 4.33 m from the waterline. It has a crew of two members and can accommodate up to 20 troops.

The vessel is operated and controlled from a bridge located on the upper deck. The bridge features large windows with wipers to provide operators with 360° view. The crew enter / exit the bridge through the rear door, while two hatches are provided for emergency exit.

The front section of the upper deck facilitates launch and recovery of light reconnaissance UAVs such as ??? developed by ???. The UAV provides increased situational awareness and the ability to engage targets effectively over land and sea.

The passenger compartment in the lower deck seats up to 20 members and is equipped with two windows on both sides. The engine room located at the aft of the lower deck is accessed from the upper deck through two hatches.

Armament of Beast of Burden landing craft


The Beast of Burden-class fast assault craft can be equipped with ??? remote weapon station (RWS), which is manufactured by ???.

Gun carriage options for the remote weapon station include a 7.62 mm machine gun, a 12.7 mm machine gun, AG-17 30 mm automatic grenade launchers and 40 mm grenade launchers.

The boat can also be armed with Rattlesnake anti-tank guided missile system from Ostehaar and mine countermeasures.

Fire control


The ??? remote weapon station features a two-axis, gyro-stabilised sighting device equipped with surveillance cameras that have a wide and narrow field of view (FOV), automatic target tracking system, and laser rangefinder.

The ??? remote weapon station is also fitted with filters for image enhancement and can acquire targets over a distance of 2.5km and memorise up to 10 static targets. It has a horizontal travel angle of 360°, a vertical travel angle between -20° and 70°, and angular velocity of rotation of 60° a second.

The landing craft is equipped with navigation and communications systems, a loud speaker, search lights, antenna mast, and radars for improved surveillance and target acquisition.

Propulsion and performance


Powered by two 780 hp engines, the landing craft has a maximum speed of 42 kt and an economical speed of 30 kt. It can cruise over a distance of 400 miles (643 km) and endure for up to 24 hours.

  • Air Force Reserve- a pool of 4,000 enlisted personnel, as well as 500 temporary volunteers drawn from the National Volunteer Corps, which provides short-term armed volunteers to supplement the Almorean military's domestic capability.

Equipment
The Air Force uses a variety of aircraft and other weaponry. Many Almorean warplanes are made in Corindia, while Noronica has also supplied technology. Almorean manufacturers are important to the Air Force, as they supply repair kits and spare parts for foreign-made fighter jets. To avoid having to purchase expensive licenses, the Almorean government encourages the Military Design Bureau (MDB), the military's development agency, to study and "borrow" foreign technology to provide workable models for domestic planes.

  • ALDRATO fighter jet. Still in development, this plane is being built by Almorean technicians and experts from Dragao do Mar and is expected to enter service in the early 2020s.

  • 30 MRF7 Águila. Built and outfitted by Corindi technicians, the Águila is Almorea's best fighter aircraft, and can effectively engage enemy air and ground assets. The government purchased 15 of these planes in 2015 and another 15 in 2018, for over $1 billion in total.

  • 17 GA2 Tarasque ground attack aircraft. Also a Corindi-built plane, the Air Force maintains a small fleet of them. Tarasque ground attack fighters used by the Air Force are equipped mainly with SEAD weaponry, and are intended to supplement the Army's mission of defending the homeland against ground invasion, as well as for use attacking enemy installations overseas.

  • 22 LinkTornado jets. Forty of these planes were bought by Almorean officials in the 1980s, but they have been phased out since 2010. In the present day, Almorea's fleet of Tornado fighter jets is equipped with air-to-air missiles and autocannons, giving them some capability in a dogfight, but many of the planes are plagued with mechanical issues.

  • 28 LinkA229 attack helicopters. Adopted in 2016, these helicopters are the best which Almorea can deploy. Compared to the A129, they have better avionics and weapons systems, such as being equipped to carry Thunderbolt missiles from Athara Magarat.

  • 19 LinkAgusta A129 attack helicopters. The Air Force has used this model since 1990, but many have been transferred to the control of the Army. These helicopters are mainly used for light patrol duties and would supplement the more powerful A229 models in combat.

  • 1 Lagartija helicopter. Made in Corindia. The Air Force bought one model in 2019 to test its capabilities, and may phase out the A129 in favor of the Lagartija by 2025.

  • 10 Matuasto transport helicopter. Corinidi-made.

  • 5 MRTT3 Iolaidh tanker transport. Designed by engineers in Noronica and Corindia, this aircraft has been used by the Air Force since 2012 to transport large quantities of troops and equipment for the other branches of the military. A sixth such aircraft crashed and exploded several years ago.

  • 41 LinkAvenger Air Defense System. Armed with heat-seeking surface-to-air missiles, these vehicles complement the Army's extensive anti-aircraft capability, and are used to guard Almorean shores against incoming hostile aircraft.

943: The Khas-Kirat Empire officially transitions from a unified nation (under First Mahang Srijunga and his adopted son Mabo) to a federation of four warring states. Dhan Kumari (who is just 13) is crowned Dhanusha Hangma of the Greater Ipachi Hangate (southeastern Vendriothos, northeastern San Montagna and Ktismandrasi). The second eldest Tara takes helm of the Mahakirat Hangate (northern Vendrithos and the Three Islands) as Tira Hangma. The third sister Kukee is renamed Kukri Hangma and placed on the throne of the Crimson Horde (southwestern Vendriothos and most of San Montagna). Mabo's widow Mgar (after whom the Mgar dynasty is named) takes her youngest child (two years old infant) Birsha (Banchari Hangma) to Domanania; which has been renamed to Tiwe Hangate by Khas-Kirati settlers. In sharp contrast to the infighting and political instability in the three elder states, Tiwe Hangate is relatively peaceful.

The three elder hangates are supposed to further collapse into more and more states with each succession crisis. So far, I had no plans to have Tiwe Hangate become balkanized like its sister states but yeah...we could have members of the Birsha line establish their own hangate south in your nation in Option 1. So... my history notes have Ioudaia conquered by a succession of empires from 824-1399, with periods of autonomy and independence scattered throughout the period. Since I'd like to keep that, I think an attempt by Tiwe Hangate to expand southwards works fine, essentially Option 1. Tiwe Hangate would overrun the east coast easily -- it's nice and flat -- and pick up everything south of Chyrtiros as well. But the northwest is harder to take.

So, 80ish years of Tiwe Hangate rule followed by a revolt, and then the colonists get chased back across the old frontier (I've been using the current Ioudan-Doman border as an estimate of the historical frontier as well; tall mountains and wide rivers make good boundaries). How's that work for you?

Your dates otherwise work well for me, pending Domanania and I getting our histories working together.

The Athara Magarat National Army is the military of the Athara Magarati Federation of Hangates. The armed forces of the communist federation People's Republic of Chuli were disbanded in 1996 after the end of the 30th Parallel War and the fall of the United Central Communist Republics (UCCR). The modern-day Athara Magarat National Army was established in 1998 after the renewal of Magarati Arms Limitation Treaty was agreed between the Athara Magarati government led by Fimla Hangma and the Mesder Sea Treaty Organization (MSTO). To this day, concerns about a rearmed Magarat, even though severe restrictions have been imposed on it, remain both in and outside the country.

The Athara Magarat National Army is often described as a high-tech international crisis intervention force since Athara Magarat is forbidden from declaring or going to war. Although Athara Magarat is still forbidden from being a primary belligerent, she can now join the wars of her allies since the 2016 renewal of the Magarati Arms Limitation Treaty. Desperate to prove that their army can be used to for other purposes than just invading other countries, Athara Magarat was one of the first nations to join Noronica in both the Occupation of Arvan and the Allied Invasion of Charbagnia. Currently, the Athara Magarat National Army is involved in major anti-SHOCK operations in coordination with local paramilitary and police forces of the hangates and the Vancouvian Special Forces.

The Athara Magarat National Army is not especially popular with quite a significant number of the Magarati public. While other armed forces around the Isles might be the pride of their countries, the Athara Magarat National Army is rather seen as a necessary evil by most Magaratis and as an unnecessary evil by quite a few vocal minority. The Magarati leaders and hard-line militarist factions, on the other hand, want to increase the size of the army. The hard-line factions spread propaganda news of how the MSTO is preventing Magaratis from defending against border incursions or possible invasions by San Montagna, Razzgriz or virtually anyone else in the Isles. The newer Magarati generation, though firm supporters of the Magarati Arms Limitation Treaty, are mostly of the view that the current Magarati military is barely sufficient to defend a large nation like Athara Magarat. Thanks to the constant refusals by the MSTO to renew the treaty and propaganda spread by hard-line militarist factions, the newer Magarati generation is becoming more and more anti-MSTO. One of the factors leading to Jrm Hangma's election was her promise of increasing the Magarati land forces from 20,000 to double that number.

Despite the rising anti-MSTO trend, most Magarati citizens pretty much disrespect their armed forces. Magarati soldiers (excluding the fallen or traumatized individuals) are often portrayed as stupid and badly equipped by the Magarati media. This is highly in sharp contrast with the "brave" local paramilitary forces or the "smart, disciplined and professional" Gurkha regiments that are part of the United Noronnican Army or the Miklanian Army. In fact, most of the recruits in the Athara Magarat National Army are boys or girls who failed to qualify into the Noronnican Brigade of Gurkhas or the Miklanian Gurkha Regiment.

Current Status


The Athara Magarat National Army consists of about 20,000 active members with roughly 20,000 soldiers in the land-based Dragon Army, and 10,000 personals each in the Eagle Force and the Turtle Fleet.

As a result of the increased threat of terrorism, the Athara Magarat National Army has been committed to Operation Homeland since 2002 to assist the local police forces of the hangates with securing high-profile targets in major cities. After increase in SHOCK-related incidents, this military protection was expanded to include soft targets in the public space.

The Dragon Army is the ground arm of the Athara Magarat National Army. It is also known as the Guns of Magarat. This causes unfortunate implications as the Imperial Magarati Army was called the "36 Guns of Magarat". The various hangates of the Khas-Kirat Empire always called their armies as guns whether it was just 5,000 men or 20,000 strong.

The Dragon Army currently has 20,000 soldiers and 10,000 civilian staff. It is organised into two military divisions: Northern and Southern. Each division has 10 land-based guns, which are equivalent to a battalion of the armed forces of other countries.

We are not THAT Eagle Force


The Eagle Force is the air arm of the Athara Magarat National Army. The Imperial Magarati Air Force was also called Eagle Force; so was the air force of the People's Republic of Chuli. This current Eagle Force takes its name from the air force of the communist federation that existed after the Imperial War; not the air force of the empire that fought in the Imperial War. The modern-day Eagle Force is composed of an estimated 10,000 personals and 250 military aircraft. The Eagle Force also has two "elite air-borne guns" designated as "Talons" - the Yakthung Thibon and the Wallo Kirat Gun. Lieutenant-General Toran Poon is the current air marshal of the Eagle Force.

We are not THAT Turtle Fleet


The Turtle Fleet is the naval arm of the Athara Magarat National Army. One of the fleets of the Imperial Magarati Navy was called the Black Turtle Fleet. The navies of various hangates that were part of the Khas-Kirat Empire had names with the words "turtle", "serpent" or "dragon" added. For example, "Black Turtle Fleet", "Green Turtle Fleet", "White Turtle Fleet", "Blue Serpent Fleet", "Blue Dragon Fleet", etc. The modern-day Magarati navy derives its name from this tradition; not the Imperial Magarati Navy.

The Turtle Fleet currently has roughly 10,000 personals and 17 vessels; excluding 300 "Beast of Burden" amphibious landing craft. Admiral Sachita Karki is the current commander of the Turtle Fleet. Its current vessels, excluding the landing crafts, are:

The Half-Platoon Boat 22, also known as Beast of Burden, is a high-speed, multi-purpose amphibious landing craft developed by Athara Magarati firearms manufacturer Kukri Nation, for the Athara Magarat National Army.

The landing craft is intended for a variety of missions such as coastal area patrol, personnel transportation, coastal landing operations, fire support, counter-piracy, counter-terrorism, medical evacuation, assistance to vessels in distress, and other special operations.

Furthermore, the landing craft also has the ability to launch and retrieve an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV).

Beast of Burden multi-purpose landing craft design and features


The hull and superstructures of the landing craft are made from AMg alloys. The vessel has a length of 16.45 m, width of 4 m, a draft of 0.87 m, and a height 4.33 m from the waterline. It has a crew of two members and can accommodate up to 20 troops.

The vessel is operated and controlled from a bridge located on the upper deck. The bridge features large windows with wipers to provide operators with 360° view. The crew enter / exit the bridge through the rear door, while two hatches are provided for emergency exit.

The front section of the upper deck facilitates launch and recovery of light reconnaissance UAVs such as ??? developed by ???. The UAV provides increased situational awareness and the ability to engage targets effectively over land and sea.

The passenger compartment in the lower deck seats up to 20 members and is equipped with two windows on both sides. The engine room located at the aft of the lower deck is accessed from the upper deck through two hatches.

Armament of Beast of Burden landing craft


The Beast of Burden-class fast assault craft can be equipped with ??? remote weapon station (RWS), which is manufactured by ???.

Gun carriage options for the remote weapon station include a 7.62 mm machine gun, a 12.7 mm machine gun, AG-17 30 mm automatic grenade launchers and 40 mm grenade launchers.

The boat can also be armed with Rattlesnake anti-tank guided missile system from Ostehaar and mine countermeasures.

Fire control


The ??? remote weapon station features a two-axis, gyro-stabilised sighting device equipped with surveillance cameras that have a wide and narrow field of view (FOV), automatic target tracking system, and laser rangefinder.

The ??? remote weapon station is also fitted with filters for image enhancement and can acquire targets over a distance of 2.5km and memorise up to 10 static targets. It has a horizontal travel angle of 360°, a vertical travel angle between -20° and 70°, and angular velocity of rotation of 60° a second.

The landing craft is equipped with navigation and communications systems, a loud speaker, search lights, antenna mast, and radars for improved surveillance and target acquisition.

Propulsion and performance


Powered by two 780 hp engines, the landing craft has a maximum speed of 42 kt and an economical speed of 30 kt. It can cruise over a distance of 400 miles (643 km) and endure for up to 24 hours.

If you read Domanania's history dispatch, Kirati-rule officially ended in 1095 with the Liberation Wars and the last Kirati settlements were integrated into Doman nation by 1300s.

Age of Darkness (12,000 BC-400 BC)
This is the Era of Doman history from when the first primitive people settled on the island to the first uses of iron tools and weapons. This era would see the first tribes and communities forming and the foundation of Doman language. Often called the Age of Darkness due to the un-enlightened people of the true faith.

Era of Spirits (~4,000 BC-3,000 BC)
This is a rough estimate by historians as to when the primitive tribes started to observe the spirits of the world and begin to form the foundation for modern Domanium of all branches. Linked to other native region religions, it can be said that all the different faiths originated from the same point. However, some of the ancient Doman religions died off quickly in a shuffle around of different religions and ideas of spirits.

Age of Settlement (~2,000 BC-300 BC)
This is the estimated time as to when the mostly migrant tribes of Tiwe began to settle down and form the first settlements. This is also around the time that the early tribes began to experiment with basic metal working of copper, tin, and bronze near the later half of the era. These early communities could be as small as a few dozen to over 200.

Age of Expansion (400 BC-300 AD)
After the discovery of usable sources of iron, many tribes began to make a multitude of tools and weapons. This allowed for greater crop yields and the formation of the first militaries. Tribes with easy access to iron thrived, while other tribes were absorbed or pushed back. This era will also see the rise of the first official governments outside of a chiefdom.

Birth of Faith (100 BC-200 AD)
This is when the tribes began to embrace the more normalized version of modern Domanium. This is also when the first shrines and religious practices were recorded. Everything from ritual sacrifices to organized worship to the gods. It is also believed that during this era, some tribes formed some of the first theocracies, though primitive in the governing. Little is known about the early practices and religions, but evidence points to this era as their origin.

Era of Rule (100 AD-300 AD)
The first governments started popping up around this time. Some primitive theocracies from the Age of Faith and some of the first kingdoms. The early chiefs were usually elected among the elders of each village or group. However, they would often begin to vote for the same family over and over again, even going as far as to elect children of a dynasty. And some, didn't even vote. It was who ever the chief appointed, which was often his children. This was the start of the first monarchies and elective monarchies. And from there the first accounts of writing on clay tablets were recorded, as they began to write out laws and regulations for these fledgling kingdoms.

Age of Xodia (384 AD-600 AD)
This is the time when Xodia Doma had become the new King at the age of 16 to the southern tribe of Domanania. He would end up becoming the first emperor of the island, and the focal point for the modern branch of Domanium that is the largest of the three branches. He would usher in a golden era for the small tribe and expand its borders to the likes none other on the island had seen. While small compared to other empires on and around Argus, this was an empire for their people. Expanding north, south, and west on the island, the Holy Empire of Domanania seemed unstoppable.

Rise of Trade (450 AD-600 AD)
During and after Xodias rule, while he expanded on land, he explored the seas. Mighty fleets were built and sent out on long, dangerous journeys to explore the seas. They made contact with many nations and tribes in the Four Passages and beyond. This put the empire out in the world. This also allowed many small tribes and the empire of the island to trade with other peoples. This also gave the empire control over most of the Four Passages for a long while, creating new war and trade ships that was the pinnacle of Doman engineering.

Golden Age (390 AD-600 AD)
This refers to the first golden age of the people of Tiwe, of any nation. Xodia's rule brought about an era of advancement in technologies, philosophy and the arts. Even after his death and his dynasty lived on brought the same reforms and glorious conquests of the empire. This also refers to the era when gold was discovered on the island, and was being used as basic money and jewelry, going so far as to sell it to other people's across the seas.

The Dispute (620 AD-800 AD)
The last king of the Xodia bloodline was crowned in 600 AD and had been ruling for twenty years. But he had yet to foster a child, and his half-brother-in-law was making claims on the throne. He was married to the Doman King's half-sister, who was banished due to being a bastard child. But her blood still gave her a claim, and her husband had had a son with her, and they were claiming the Doman throne. This northern kingdom did not follow the religion founded by Xodia Doma, and had control over a new gold mine, and a protected port of which to project trade power throughout the known world. This all boiled down to a war between the two nations that would last for almost 200 years, ending with the rule of a new branch of the Doma Bloodline taking the throne.

War of Heathens (625 AD-780 AD)
During the first few years of war, this is the time when most of the fighting was had. The largest, bloodiest battles to be seen on the island. Tens of thousands of men died, and in the sacking and burning of cities, civilians were killed as well. This was seen as the first plague of man, but only man could cure it. Even after the current Kings died and left their heirs, they continued the fighting past this dark time in Doman History. Only in the last 20 years was there relative peace with only small skirmishes scattered across the lands. This era would weaken the empires of Tiwe for generations to come.

Age of Peace (800 AD-850 AD)
Not falling within the Age of Heathens, but not important enough in the grand scale to be it's own era in the history books, but seen as the recovery period after the Age of Heathens. This would see a new line of Doma that would seek to not tear the country in half in the long run. The two kings who ruled during this era, sought to only strengthen and repair the nation after nearly destroying itself. With new religious and civil laws, the internal affairs would be mended. And with renewed enthusiasm, the Empire (which now controlled the northern kingdom under an uneasy vassalage) looked across the seas and oceans to the rest of the region for trade, wealth, and expansion.

The Invasion (914 AD-920 AD)
After the massive bloodshed that plagued the Island for nearly 2 centuries, and the years of repair, many thought that there would be little that could happen that the people had not seen before. War, famine, plague; it was all old news to the tired people. The Empire was weak but standing on its own again. But, just when everyone was starting to move past war and bloodshed, a swift, dark cloud moved into Tiwe unlike any ever seen. It came with lighting death and steel. The Khas-Kirati of Athara Magarat have invaded a cousin kingdom to the south, decimated it, and now have set their eyes and horses on the Holy Empire.

War of The Horses (914-915 AD)
The Khas-Kirati Great Hang had landed 2,000 of his soldiers in the southern part of Tiwe and her island. Marching north, they avoided major conflicts and rallied nomadic peoples to their forces, reaching 3,500 by the time they reached the southern most reaches of the Empire. Up until this point, the Empire had only witnessed horse in villages they visited. They were not native to the island. With the Hang landing on the island, it would be the first time the weakened Empire would see horses in combat. And due to this, they had no tactics to counter the fast movements. So when they pressed further and further into the Empire, the more men were killed. Their best hope was to wait them out in winter. But they could not stop them with their current strength. After only a year of humiliating defeats, the Empire was forced into signing a treaty that put the Empire under the thumb of the Kirati. They were to become a vassal of a far away power.

The Rebellion (915-920 AD)
Shortly after the Hang had left, he died after leaving a Doman port. The new vassal had claimed to have poisoned his food stores. This lead to short period of harsh rule as punishment for such claims. And at this time, a puppet, pro-Kirati government was being set up at the edge of Kirati controlled lands. In the small town of Oyrlxis K'ucesu (Vulctos Kirati) that would be called Vulctos Henta a few centuries later. During the time the puppet government was being set up, several thousand people rebelled openly and secretly against these heathen invaders. Such as Empire sponsored groups capturing Kirati horses and attempting to breed them for the Empire to use. These programs failed miserably, and by the year 920, almost all rebellions died as the Kirati took a more hands off approach and let the puppet government and the Empire work out internal issues.

The Puppet State (921-1095 AD)
The era of history where the Kirati puppet government had almost complete control over the Empire. During this time, many peoples from the homeland of the Kirati came to settle in the untamed lands west of the empire and people in the empire began to migrate west to the Kirati lands.

Age of Migration (930-970 AD)
During this time saw over a million people move throughout the Empire. Thousands of Kirati settle lands in the west and south, creating new small communities that integrated with the nomadic people already in the area, and unconquered lands of the Wartha and Vulctos Kingdoms. And at the same time, many people within the Empire were free to migrate to the new puppet capital in the west. Dowlind had seen a population decline of almost 40% as people went to the more politically and socially free west, further weakening the power of the capital.

The Grand Navy (925-1050 AD)
One of the conditions placed upon the weakened Empire was to provide troops, ships, and profit for the Khas-Kirati. Having heard of the Empire through her growing trade network, they demanded Doman Ships. And with a rapid increase of production and need to innovate, several breakthroughs were made in 125 years. Such as larger, better sails. The ability to make ships larger, faster, and slightly cheaper than it would have been. Using candlelight wood, ships were lighter but just as strong. All the major shipyards went into over driver, with a new ships being made almost 1-2 times a month. Newer designs could perhaps receive 1 ship every other month. This also created a small economic boom as thousands were employed to build magnificent ships. The biggest mistake though was one of the Kirati governors wanted a ship larger than any had yet been built to be a captial ship for the Hangs of the homeland. Production was slowed as this ship was built over the course of 34 years and finished in 974 AD. The grand trade ship. It was the largest ship to have been built to date in current records. And ladened with riches to be delivered before committing itself to trade missions, it set sail for the Khas-Kirati homeland. On the way however, it outran its military escort ships, and sailed into a large storm. Never having experience with a ship this large, the Doman sailors were doomed. It sank in the storm and never arrived. And from then on, the puppet state restricted itself to smaller, more manageable ships that the Domans knew how to build.

The Far Wars (940-1050 AD)
While building war and trade ships for the Khas-Kirati, the Empire was also subject to lending her troops to their wars and insurrections. The Empire gave them over 200,000 troops over the course of their subjugation. Their first taste of Kirati wars was when 5,000 Doman soldiers accompanied the new Hangs in the conquest of Akar of the Keomoran Empire in 960 AD. After that, small contingents of Doman accompanied the Kirati Armies wherever they went. Until 1050 when the armies were put on reserve, the Doman Armies won prestige and fame in certain wars and some soldiers even stayed in conquered lands, integrating themselves over time in kirati conquered lands, as well in modern day Athara Magarat, though they make up about 10% of the population and have been diluted to the point where most identify as Athara Magarati.

The Liberation (1095-1100 AD)
Over the course of the 200 years of Doman subjugation, many things have happened. Kirati culture and customs had been adopted in some fashion throughout the Empire. Such as music, religious practices that melded with traditional Domanium, and technology. When the Kirati invaded, it was evident that the Empire was behind some compared to the other vassals of the Khas-Kirati Empire. Adopting many things, the Empire had grown to incorporate some of these new ideas. Such as better steel, ships, and military tactics. Being part of the Far Wars, Doman troops had learned a great deal. Including, but not limited to, mounted warfare. Creating cavalry corps despite the suspicion of the Puppet State. And on June 15th, 1095 the Empire declared itself free of Khas-Kirati vassalage. The Empire marched its soldiers on Oyrlxis K'ucesu and took the city and capturing the Kirati council that had been in charge of the Island for 2 centuries. Displaying the crucified bodies of the council over the city's walls, the Empire started a 5 year war.

The Liberation Wars (1096-1100)
For five years, the Empire would fight with remnant Kirati soldiers in the occupied lands. Using the new heavy Doman Cavalry to break through weak Kirati lines. Their military presence had faded as it seemed more evident the Empire would remain loyal. So a minimal garrison was left consisting of mostly light horse archers and light infantry. The Empire overwhelmed them with heavy horses and heavy infantry. In five years, the Empire liberated city after city. Soon pushing them to the southern plains of D'uns. With no more cities to capture, the Empire kept a military presence on the border (modern borders) to keep the horse people at bay. The remaining Kirati either fled back overseas, or integrated with the locals, creating the ~100,000 in the area today.

The Great Purge (1100-1300 AD)
Following the rebuilding of the Empire, many were displeased with the heavy Khas-Kirati presence still on the island. Fervor from winning their independence still ran deeply through the Doman courts. The Emperor called for a purge to commence of people of Kirati decent still loyal to the Hangs. The Law Bringers were formed to deal with this problem. Fashioned after Kirati police who were found throughout Dowlwind. They were in charge of carrying out the whim of the crown at any cost.

The Cleansing (1105-1175 AD)
The first act of the Law Bringers was to find the loyal Kirati still within the Empires border and bring them to justice. People were dragged from their homes, families separated. Several government sources claim that they were searching for former soldiers that didn't escape south. However, woman and young teens were dragged away as well, and peaceful settlers were also targeted. Farm houses were burned, small villages ransacked. For most Kirati it was a time of fear and hatred. Over the course of the cleansing, 10,000 people died of the total ~120,000 Kirati still living in the borders. roughly 12% of the total kirati population was killed. And by 1175, the laws had been relaxed and only active individuals were taken. However, it was a dark time for everyone, and the modern governments frown upon the actions.

The Conversions (1175-1300 AD)
During this time, while the Law Bringers brought threats to justice, priests were sent in to "cleanse" the heresy. The Settlers had peacefully integrated the two faiths of the Kirati and the Doman. But the crown still sent in priests to ensure they converted. While more peaceful than the Law Bringers, people who were steadfastly refusing to convert were crucified on Doman Crosses. In one town, 100 people were crucified over the course of a week, Doman and Kirati alike. Most people accepted the Doman gods, but still retained ties to the faith of their homeland, which did not bother the Traditional Domanium followers, as the ideas blended nicely. Xodia Domanium was more aggressive, and sought to turn other branches of Domanium to their side.

The Rebuilding (1350-1500 AD)
After Nearly 200 years of the Doman Purge being in place, many former Kirati have been asimilated and have changed the ethnic and political landscape of the Empire. This was a time healing the rift caused by the Kirati occupation. With the population boom in the western plains and woodlands, there was a new powerful city that could rival the capital in population and influence. A new Emperor lifted the regulations in place concerning the purge and took steps to bring the East and Western Doman peoples together.

Founding Vulctos-Henta (1360-1365 AD)
In the almost 200 years of direct occupation of the west, a new capital had been established to host the invaders new seat of power. They took the two city states of Vulctos and Henta and united them to house the government. With promises of wealth and preferential treatment in the west, many Domans flocked to the new capital and began to cause the population to explode. In the first 50 years, the two cities officially merged into the then dubbed "Srijunga" after the glorious Hang, and had exceeded the old capital in population and power. And after the liberation wars, the city was hit the hardest by the Great Purge. As it's population was equal parts Doman and Kirati. During The Rebuilding the city was renamed "Vulctos-Henta" after the two cities that made up its core, and to promote some lost Doman culture. The city was brought into the fold and established as the secondary capital. Ever since, Vulctos-Henta has outpaced the capital in population growth, and has developed into an industrial powerhouse.

Cultural Merging (1355-1476 AD)
Over the course of the occupation, over a million Kirati, and Kirati Puppets migrated and settled in the west. By now the west had become a melting pot of the various cultures and religions. Though there was a rift created during the purge. The new emperors sought to heal this rift by passing laws that promoted the mixing of cultures. This did help heal the rift caused nearly 150 Years ago. While tensions remained, this would spark a cultural haven for all in the west, and would bring about excellent trade and publicity for the Empire as a whole.

Opening the Nation (1490-1500 AD)
During the great purge, restrictions were placed on foreign trade and immigration. With the new Kings setting out to end the isolationist laws, they decided to open the nation. They struck trade/immigration restrictions. Trade ships were allowed to travel to their former conquerors and their territories. New trade fleets were constructed and the trade flowed from Doman ports. Over the course of 10 years, thousands of people immigrated and brought the capital into a new age of diversity. Many even thought that this would launch the Empire into a new golden era.

The Great Collapse (1589-1605 AD)
While the Empire was seeing a rise in cultural, and religious diversity, the internal workings of the country were becoming problematic. Due to bans on religious taxes in the recent years, one of the main revenues the Empire took a sudden drop. And the ever increasing traffic in the port city of Takrata also contributed to a vast black market and smuggling.

However, the Empire saw a rapid increase in its army size, and modernization based on other powers in The Western Isles. It began to conscript smaller standing armies in its various provinces made up of partially trained militias. The Imperial army itself was in reserve in the capital.

All this lead to a revolt of some provinces that wanted to place their leader on the throne, believing that that the Empire could be governed better under their rule. Believed to be the cause of this revolt were immigrants with radical ideas. The conscript armies marched on the capital and was met with the fewer, but better trained and armed Imperial Army. The rebel armies were crushed, but it inspired other provinces to rise up and some even declared independence. With each province having an army, the Imperial army were too few to deal with the 100,000 rebels rising up all over. They decided the best course of action was to draft a charter to appease these rebels. 15 provincial delegates from all over the Empire came to dictate the terms.

The Imperial Delegates wanted to give autonomy and giving out rights on the province level. With the first charter, the Court of Nobles was founded in 1590. A type of parliament made up of over 100 nobles that would have the power to enact laws and block the power of the King. 2 years after it was founded, they had demilitarized the Imperial Army and the provincial militias, but left the former rebels more powerful. And they called an Imperial Diet and sought to give more powers to the provinces. The King having little power to challenge this, was forced to accept the Court's decision, and again during the 2nd Imperial Diet in 1597.

In 1598-1599 the Court held 5 Diets that did all but dissolve the Empire. In the 7th Imperial Diet, they were discussing giving full autonomy to the largest cities. Fearing the ever decreasing power of the crown, marched the remnant of the Imperial army on the Court of Nobles and barred the doors, and burned down the building, killing 187 nobles of the Empire. They then began to conscript citizens in the Capital to increase the size of the Imperial Army, as the provinces heard about the massacre. They all raised their armies and the bankrupt Empire began to defend itself, while all 15 provinces declared independence in the year 1600. Over the next few years, the provinces split even further until 32 independent states would exist in the husk of the Holy Empire, each city of over 10,000 people declaring itself it's own country. The Empire was reduced to the lands directly surrounding the capital.

Leading up to the events of the Collapse, a great amount of Christians fleeing prosecution in other nations. They spread out across the entire Empire, however there was a large portion of them that settled in a region dominated by the Razorback Mountains, and its many valleys. And during the collapse, they began to consolidate the various villages into one cohesive state, with a majority population of Christians. They used the last five years to build up their defenses, becoming a mountain fortress. This state would be one of the last conquered in the next 2 1/2 centuries.

Perhaps, they could have been Tiwe Hangate remnants fleeing across the border (but yeah...they possibly tried to take over in earlier times but failed)?

The Khas-Kiratis were able to take over Domanania rapidly because they had one thing the Domans did not: horses. After 200 years of Kirati rule, the Domans grew tired of having their sons drafted to fight wars for some bumf@ck hang of bumf@ckistan hangate since the Tiwe hangs promised to help their cousins/allies in wars (so yeah...not even Tiwe Hangate's wars). And by this time, we all know that the Khas-Kirat Empire had dissolved into warring hangates (unlike the unified nation that conquered Domanania). Sure there were still a few invasions of Domanania (and you by proxy) here and there by hangs seeking glory in battlefield, but they all failed for obvious reasons (no unity, hangs trying to out-do each other, some hangs even having royal marriages with the Doman Emperors and smaller tribes actually needed a good place to raid). The "later invasions" were more like annoying raids by any Khas-Kirati lord who could gather some boats and men to loot Doman (and possibly your) lands.

That actually works well, and explains their relative weakness. So, let me try some variations on that idea, each lengthening the time Tiwe Hangate and/or its successor holds parts of Ioudaia.

1) They flee south just as Domanania absorbs the last Hangate areas. Since they'd be conquering areas held by another empire, itself weakening, it's even possible some of them would have been initially welcomed as liberators.

2) I can also move the initial conquest earlier; that date doesn't matter too much, since it exchanges one foreign ruler for another. So, a century or more of weak Tiwe Hangate rule, starting as early 1260s, as the remnants of the once-mighty Tiwe Hangate are chased southwards. Otherwise the same as 1).

Or, 3) The Tiwe Hangate held a piece of what's now NE Ioudaia along the current border (a fertile river valley) much longer, and then they tried their luck expanding as the last parts of the former Hangate north of the river were absorbed by Domanania and refugees were chased southwards.

Any of those work?

This works as well. Ioudaia never had many good horses, but we did have some, so we'd have some idea about fighting on and against horses.

So using today values the Fer would equal $1.23US. Is it a decimal money divided into 100 pennies and if so do you use modern British divisions: Coin: half-penny, penny, 2 pence, 5 pence, 10 pence, 20 pence, 50 pence, 1 fer, 2 fer
Bank notes: 5 fer, 10 fer, 20 fer, 50 fer.?

Yeah but maybe only as low as five pence because I like going by fives, might name it something else instead of pence.
Fer is similar to fur or a pelt so it would have something to do with trading.
