According to Wikipedia, white symbolizes peace, black symbolizes Africa, and red symbolizes the struggle for independence killing all those damn xenos (that's also what the AK-47 symbolizes). That last one is the only one that really fits the Warhammer 40000 setting, so your version is probably better.

The irony of including a color that supposedly symbolizes peace on the same flag that also includes an AK-47 is one that I will leave for you to ponder in your own time.

I had a feeling the black was for Africa. Xenophobia makes sense in that context, with outsiders strolling in there thinking they own the place, with the cunning use of flags.

The Ak 47 brings a kind of peace, once all the adversaries back down and go away respectfully, or are mowed down.

It takes a surprising amount of technical expertise to make something look like it was made by a primitive savage.

I made a transparent one by finding a tattered banner, placing an ork skull overtop and then making the background transparent...but it shows up so small on the RMB

Blasphemy, that's how.

Following new legislation in Beinirham, the nation's forests are full of treasure hunters in military-grade survival gear.

Well, when you stick around here for a while, there are the occasional orks from time to time. Historically and based on near-encounters in life, there was an ork presence around Beinirham during the settlement days. Sometimes there weren't Orkz around the region, and there is a need for that barbarous tongue to rouse the urge to be gruff or stomp it out. As 'uneducated' as ork cock'ney may sound, there are actually rules to it, and I've studied "How to talk like an Ork" to get the hang of propa orky.

Ah yes, that makes a lot of sense. There is a certain utility to the tongue, I can see that.

"How to talk like an Ork" -- I like that, very good. I'm imagining a seminar with a great big ork up front with a pointer and a chalkboard.

How come Orks are just speaking a mangled form of human language, anyway? I mean, they're aliens. They shouldn't be speaking our language.

My personal headcanon is that Orks are too stupid to understand the concept of a language barrier, so their psychic field - which makes stuff work as long as they believe it should - makes them able to be understood by speakers of any language... but only barely and with a horrible accent, because the psychic field can only do so much.

That's very good headcanon. I suggest we petition Games Workshop to get it promoted to actual canon.

Started a new job today. While introduced around the office, my function was described as: "Scanning, Boxing, and Purging." Beware the wrath of the Administratum!

Black Ships wrote:That's very good headcanon. I suggest we petition Games Workshop to get it promoted to actual canon.

I believe there are channels for that.

Anyone could watch for fresh social media posts and slip in demands like everyone else. Might have a marginal chance of getting a reply, with no further effect.

Supposedly, GW's Community site offers a designated receptical to submit feedback. Rumor has it that they listen to some suggestions now, compared to the past when they evaded or stonewalled.

It might help if the request is: what they were thinking already, trending, really good, and/or presented in a clear and captivating way.

I recommend fleshing out the Ork Linguistics Headcanon. Find the proper channel. In addition, inciting rumors on social media could add a boost of attention if it catches on.

It would be cool to see something like the Praetorian Newsreel about this. Although, that is quite the production. My hunch is that a suitable benchmark of in-depthness might be the typical Regimental Standard article. That is just my assumption. Other formats, and more or less content might convey the point succinctly.
