Government Personelle (W.I.P)

This is a list of the current individuals in governmental power within Ilthenia.

Monarch

Overview
Sovereign Fapta, titled: "Sovereign of Charity" officially, is the current Monarch of Ilthenia and the highest executive and legislative power in Ilthenia. She is currently 45 years of age, and has been in office for a bit longer than 14 years so far. Being the youngest of any monarch to enter office in Ilthenia, she began her duties at the young age of 31 a mere 7 years after being considered a legal adult in the nation of Ilthenia.

The "Sovereign of Charity" gained her moniker from the traditional titling of government personelle, in which citizens vote upon a title based upon their ruler's actions and personality whilst in office. Fapta was and has always been a kindhearted person, completely alien to the luxurious life she has been presented. Her policies on indentured servitude, and her funding of schools, colleges, and hotrock mining has aided Ilthenia's economy, and has reduced poverty nation-wide.

History

Early Years

Born in a temporary nest in Ilthenia's northern coast, she was born in a middle-class family during the reign of the "Sovereign of Avarice" Puyayo. Her father, a blacksmith, got by from his creation of Sapameta and weaponry for the Guard, and her mother was a caregiver for a family of nobles. She mostly spent her time away from home, being that her father was usually too busy with his work, and mother was away from home most days. In the underwater pathways of Tayotayoyat, her home-city, she often looked at clothing and jewlery, sometimes wishing that her family could afford the amber necklaces and silver chains she often sees nobles wearing.

Fapta wasn't the type to have multiple friends, but there was one she had a particular closeness to. Jurem, a boy about her age who's parents were somewhat richer than hers. Unlike her, he was the only surviving child of a clutch of 3, the other 2 having prematurely hatched and died of various causes. Jurem's parents were quite protective of him, and only allowed Fapta to play with him under close watch. They treated eachother like any sibling would.

At school, she proved to be an adept poet in her teenage years, garnering a following due to poems she had made about her daily life, as well as things she had seen in the town on off days. She proved excellent at writing in the Ilthenese Alphabet, and many adored her for her voice, which proved to be pleasing to hear. It was a dream of hers to be the author of a book pr a songwriter, but many encouraged her to get into politics, as they thought her gentle, kindhearted nature, and charisma would make her a powerful force in the world of politics. The person most supportive of this was Jurem, who by this time had become Fapta's significant other. Although hesitant at first, she eventually did decide to become a politician, and as such focused more on academia in order to be legible for a higher education. When she was 21, she proved herself to be a perfect addition to a university in the city of Suima, well known for birthing some of the best mages and politicians in the nation. When she was 24, and thus a legal adult, she was accepted into the university.

Adult Years
Most of her time at this point was focused on her studies of government and history. Occasionally, she'd spend time with Jurem, who at this point had been freed of his parents, and was now working as a housekeeper for a family of rich folk. She cherished the rare times when they could be together, and they made the most out of it each time. She didn't have to worry about working, since the university provided for basic needs, so she had plenty of time and space to study. At the age of 28, she graduated with a degree in politics, and to celebrate, she and Jurem went to see the crystal fields of Aitan. There, beneath the shadow of a crystaline structure, to their magical hum, Jurem proposed, and they married soon after.

Jurem didn't make much money, but they were well off enough for Fapta to begin campaigning, she was at first set to prove herself to the Sovereign of Avarice, and become the Lord of the Turbina province, however, The Sovereign of Avarice, as Fapta was garnering a following, had died, leaving her position open to candidates. Fapta, following encouragement from her husband, and the small following she had garnered, took the opportunity to run for Monarch.

Election to Queen
Having become a candidate for the title of Queen, she gained a large following. As it turned out, her soothing voice was an advantage when swaying the population to her side, she proved herself an adept orator, and had survived the first few months of the election. Her biggest competition, whom would remain up until the election, was Jerumi, a person of passion, who's love for his nation garnered him an equally large following. It was a brutal competition, with various rumours spread about each candidate. In the end, however, Fapta came out on top, and was officially crowned as Queen at 31. In celebration, Fapta and Jurem spent the night partying at one of the previous Lord's home, and upon returning to the palace, conceived what would eventually become a pair of children. After their night of fun, Fapta would begin her work.

Years as Queen
During the next few years, Fapta proved to be rather competent at her job, her studies in politics had given her an advantage in that regard, and her soothing voice allowed for discussions to remain civil enough to work out tough problems. Her duties were quite extensive, leading her to develop a few unhealthy habits, such as a tendency to stay up in the night, and an unhealthy eating routine. She was not used to having people serve her, and had a tendency to lash out against servants, she had the mindset of being able to do things herself, which even stemmed to basic things, like the cooking of food and cleaning, which got in the way of her duties often. Her husband, however, refused to allow her to take care of the children, as she was busy enough with managing the entire nation of Ilthenia. He did allow her to name them upon their hatching, the male twins were named "Enbeliz" and "Wazukan".

When the time came, she reviewed the current Lords that she had in her cabinet, and, seeing that a large sum of them were not fit for the job, a result of the Sovereign of Avarice's nepotism, they were removed from office, save for the "Lord of the Arcane", Nopero, and new ones were put into office, which included Fapta's previous political rival, Jerumi, the eventual "Lord of Furor". She had also began to instill new policies, ones that both tried to fix the previous problems the Sovereign of Avarice had invoked, such as a lack of funding for various essential jobs, and a loophole in the rights of indentured servants that allowed their masters to have them serve indefinitely. The policies she had made had angered members of the aristocracy, causing them to spread rumors in an attempt to muddy her name. Her personal proudest work was the distribution of tax-money in order to fund magic-schools and universities, which were underfunded, and unable to provide items needed for effective study in her experience. Her policies as a whole bettered Ilthenia's industry and education, and as a result made the lives of lower/middle class citizens better, and as a result, she was officially titled "Sovereign of Charity" in her 8th year.

At the beginning of their 12th year together, Jurem had decided to go on a trip to the Aitan province, which had been recovering from a series of bad storms that had occurred in Fapta's 4th year as queen. He went there to visit extended family, and try to help them reach a place where they could live comfortably until their home recovered. When he returned, however, he became distant to his wife. He hid in one of the guest bedrooms of the palace, and refused to let her get near him. Fapta thought that he was going through a rough patch emotionally, but when she asked, she only received more demands to stay away. Fapta noticed his health beginning to deteriorate, to the point where he spent days asleep, and could barely walk. Even while bedridden, he didn't want anyone nearby, not even their children. Fapta called the palace doctor to diagnose him, and take care of him until he recovered. When Fapta asked about what problem Jurem was having, the doctor said he didn't know. Jurem's health began to deteriorate rapidly, and a few weeks into their 12th year, Jurem had died. His last words to his wife and children a command to not enter the room he was kept in.

A day after his death, The palace doctor had revealed that Jurem had contracted Nakia, a rare, deadly disease that spread through contact with body fluids, and of which there was no known cure. The incubation period was so long that Jurem hadn't noticed the symptoms until he returned, and, knowing he couldn't immediately leave, decided to quarantine himself, both protecting his wife and children, and the city of Kraklen from an outbreak. He ordered the doctor to not tell Fapta out of worry that she would be broken emotionally. She was initially furious but was stopped when the doctor revealed to her a Lifestone, one that he said had been formed in Jurem's body. She knew immediately that it was for her, and had it sterilized, before she personally carved it into its refined form, and embroidered it as a necklace. The public soon caught wind of the death, and many letters expressing sorrow for her loss filled her desk. The recently elected "Lord of Gluttony" asked her if she was going to remarry, to which she publicly announced that she would permanently abstain from marriage out of honor for her late husband.

With her husband gone, Fapta found herself forced to rely on servants to take care of menial tasks, allowing her to perform her duties, and to properly parent her children, but causing immense frustration on her part. She did, however, appreciate their attempts at helping her. Having done all she wanted to do as Monarch, she took on a more passive role in the government, allowing her Lords to take care of the provinces while she worked to become a better mother for her children. Occasionally, she would monitor the happenings of the public to modify or introduce laws, and attend parties held by the "Lord of Festivities", but for her next few years as queen, she wouldn't be as politically active as she was at the start.

Lords

Overview
The esteemed "Lord of the Arcane", Nopero, is the Lord who governs the largest province in Ilthenia, Turbina. Going into his 60s, he is an old Calameri, known for being distant and often deep in study, but has proved himself a competent enough leader to maintain his position as Lord. He has personally seen to many expeditions into various old ruins discovered in the province of Turbina, and has garnered a wide library of arcane knowledge and history.

His title stems from him being among the most powerful mages in Ilthenia, considered by many to be the most powerful. His arcane skill, coupled with an ambitious desire to further the study of magic has garnered him a wide following, especially to aspiring mages. Government-wise, he is often criticised for being unsympathetic, and often cold, but otherwise is a competent Lord.

The famous, or rather infamous "Lord of Furor", Jerumi, is the Calameri who's responsibility lies in the Irumyui Province. Passionate and short tempered, his passion for his people has led him to make many attempts to "strengthen" them, Irumyui has some of the strictest laws in the region, and the largest division of Guards in the nation. This, combined with his short temper, has granted him the title, "Lord of Furor".

History

Overview
Lord Tabalis is the sickly, 50 year old Calameri that reigns over the province of Aitan, known for its frequent storms, floods, and fields dotted with strange glowing crystals. Tabalis is a hardy, resilient individual, who personally oversaw the development of various cures for Ilthenia's many diseases, including the infamously contagious virus "Slimespitter". Because of this, and her funding of levies and flood-resistant infrastructure, she had been dubbed "Lord of Protection."

History

Overview
Kiyue is the extroverted, often overbearingly brash Lord of the Enkel province. A total anomaly by societal standards, her competency as Lord is far overshadowed by her frequent attendance at parties, heavy consumption of narcotics, and a tendency to participate in brawls. The titled "Lord of Festivity" is among the Sovereign of Charity's most regrettable decisions as monarch, but given how well she does her job, Fapta has not yet decided to expel her from office...not yet...

Currently 40, it is a complete mystery as to how she kept and maintained her youthful vigor.

History

Overview

Puel the Starving, Lord of the Kasovein province, is a younger Calameri who, unlike many, wears clothes as much as he can in order to hide his heavily emanciated body. Nicknamed "The Faceless Lord" but officially titled "Lord of Gluttony", Puel got his moniker from a curse set upon him by a witch, which inflicts him with an eternal hunger. Because he can never feel satisfaction from consuming food, he suffers from malnourishment due to "forgetting" to eat food, or consuming inedible material for the sake of "feeling full". He is among the younger members of government in Ilthenia, being 38 years of age, the equivalent of a young adult by Ilthenese standards.

He was elected by the Sovereign of Charity due to showing great resilience and willpower, traits which she thought would make him a good leader for the Kasovein province, which at the time suffered from, in Fapta's words, "A soft bellied pushover". Among his partners in the political world of Ilthenia, he has a special relationship with Fapta, whom treats him as an unofficially adopted son, much to his annoyance. Many have criticized him for receiving "special treatment" from the Monarch, which awakened as a result of Fapta hiring a team of mages to watch over and attempt to cure Puel of his curse.
