Military Units of The Solar Ottomans

Attack Dog: Attack Dogs are specially trained German Shepards (or other dogs) that are used extensively by not only the Solar Ottomans, but also by the British, Germans (for a time before they created the Panzerhund), French, Spanish, and (for a time), the Japanese.

Renowned for their selflessness, vigilance and loyalty, the canine race have been amongst humanity's closest allies since our respective species first crawled from the ancient caves of old. For over fourteen thousand years of human history, domesticated dogs have guarded our homes, scouted our trails and bravely sacrificed themselves on our battlefields in the name of the greater good, asking in exchange for only a warm fire, a comforting word and the occasional hunk of warm flesh on which to sup.

Even today, the surest signifier of inbound Ottoman forces is the appearance of the Attack Dog, highly trained German Shepherds rendered instantly recognizable by their high tech training collars, matching Kevlar-wool hybrid sweaters and steely-eyed devotion to the Ottoman cause. This has in turn lead to the veneration of these elite canines as avatars of liberation among the downtrodden peoples of our world's less democratic nations - as the old Romanian saying goes, "where Attack Dogs lead, freedom is sure to follow", and indeed it does.

After the overwhelming success of the now sixty one-year-old Köpek Muharebesi Araştırması (KMA) program located in Ganja, Azerbaijan, the Ottoman Council voted to establish a series of seven such campuses across the globe, devoted exclusively to the training of specially bred German Shepherds in the arts of field recon, tracking, guard duty and the various lupine forms of unarmed combat. Upon graduation, qualified attack dogs are assigned to Allied companies throughout the globe, often deep within enemy territory , where their keen senses and razor-sharp teeth have thwarted countless enemy ambushes, saving innumerable lives in the process.

That is not to say that these four-footed soldiers are invulnerable, as any visitor to Ganja's deeply moving Memorial to our Canine Fallen will attest. No matter how fast and well trained an attack dog may be, it stands little chance when faced with a fully armed enemy battalion. Despite several disastrous attempts to expand the purview of KMA programs to include armored assault and tactical weaponry as part of their core curriculum - notably the infamous "Scent Activated Smart Bomb" incident of four years ago, which left over fifty dead and numerous others injured - the attack dog remains at his or her best when pitted against a single opponent, whom they can render unmanned with a single, swift chomp to the vitals.

Alongside their impressive physical attributes, the most recent KMA graduate attack dogs have gained a new tool for their arsenal - an adapted version of the same WP100 Sonic Disruptor used by the Ottoman' controversial Dolphin unit. While the adaptation process sacrificed some of the aquatic weapon's killing power, the effect is still more than robust enough to allow an attack dog to leave its enemies stunned and helpless with a single, amplified bark. After a series of unfortunate, highly publicized incidents wherein soldiers were permanently deafened by their over-enthusiastic canine charges, it has been have mandated that all Ottoman forces be outfitted with specialized earpieces designed to tune out the WP100's frequency.

Weapons and abilities: Sharp teeth and a stun bark.

Regular Soldier: These soldiers are Ottoman-born and Ottoman trained. They are provided a variety of weapons and are the main frontline troops used in wars.

Weapons and abilities: assortment of weapons that each soldier can choose, including a sword.

Peacekeepers: Peacekeepers are "riot police" that are used extensively by not only the Solar Ottomans, but also by the British, Germans (for a time), French, Spanish, and (for a time), the Japanese.

Javelin Soldiers: While the regular front-line soldiers engage enemy infantry, Javelin soldiers fire missiles against enemy vehicles and aircraft. Javelin Soldiers are the replacement for the Guardian GI, which was destroyed in the Accidental War. Although not as armored as other soldiers, they are much more effective against tanks and are capable of engaging aircraft, something most soldiers have no claim to. Together, the two form the core of Ottoman and other nations infantry divisions.

The Javelin soldiers' launchers can also paint targets with a laser, increasing the troopers' lethality, assuming that they have the time to charge their laser, the target doesn't leave their range or forcing them on the move while "painting" the target. If the lock-on process is complete, the Javelin soldier can activate the missile auto fire that launch near infinite rapid missile fire. This bursts will stop if the target is destroyed or the Javelin soldier, in any reason, call off the shot.

They do not wear armor, most likely due to the heavy equipment they carry. Their missile launcher is also ineffective against infantry.

Unfortunately, unlike the Peacekeeper, there is no detailed information on the Javelin Soldiers' history and origins.

Weapons and abilities: Javelin Launcher (a rocket launcher with a lock-on laser system)

Engineer: Ottoman field engineers are responsible for keeping the Ottoman war machine running in top condition. Their technical knowledge allows them to repair friendly structures and capture enemy and tech structures. And their portable jet ski means that water is no obstacle for them. They also possess first-aid training, and can heal wounded friendlies using the medical supplies from their inflatable tent.

Weapons and abilities: tool kit, medical kit, and a medical tent.

Prospector: The Prospector is basically just a well-put-together material supply truck suitable for the collection and transportation of raw resources. Even if it does convert into a military command hub, the prospector is close cousins with civilian trucks, and like most civilian trucks, carries no defenses whatsoever. Because of this unassuming nature, the Solar Ottomans continue to express concern and dismay that Prospectors now appear to be priority targets for enemy forces. It wasn't always this way. Originally designed as industrial pick-ups, Prospectors gradually became more important to Ottoman field posts and strategic holds. Soon enough, these vehicles began to see action on the front, in the midst of conflict with Crusader forces during the Revenge Crusade.

Prospectors, of course, are used mostly for collecting resources quickly and efficiently. Some yet argue that the war with the Crusader nations is not about getting revenge but rather about ore. However, this is an unpopular stance due to three compelling facts about the world's premier resource for military-industrial manufacturing. One: Ore has always been fairly abundant in virtually all developed nations of the world, from Germany to Japan, and from the Solar Ottomans to Iceland. Indeed, even the middle of the sea offers its fair supply of ore. Two: Ore is a natural, renewable resource. The thought of fighting over control of this substance is just as unimaginable as, say, the thought of fighting over sunlight, or drinking water, or radio-waves. And three: Ore just isn't a concern to the people of the world. Year after year, public poll after public poll, ore proves itself time and again to be little more than an afterthought in people's perception of the world's top issues. Well-Refined Ore Corporation, a large Boise-based corporation that offers vertically-integrated ore refinement solutions and originally invented the prospector, has a company motto that's very to-the-point: "Ore: Don't Even Worry about It."

Nevertheless, as tensions rose between the Crusader nations and The Solar Ottomans, their top providers of military goods increasingly sought out greater supplies of ore so that their production could continue unabated. And because ore is not so common that it may be found just sprinkled around on the ground, the Crusaders and the Ottomans began to explore new ways to gather up the stuff directly from dormant mines. This was around the time when the Ottomans retrofitted their Prospectors with magnetically-sealed cargo bins as well as with amphibious capability, plus military-grade components for their communications arrays. In retrospect, these changes may have coincided with the Crusader's increased aggression toward Prospectors. In spite of the increasing danger and undeniable monotony of operating an Ottoman prospector, drivers of these vehicles are known for their cheerful demeanor and customer-friendly attitude toward their work. This may be in part because the Ottomans pay these laborers well, likely because Prospectors ultimately are the key to letting the Solar Ottomans manufacture new equipment in the field.

Weapons and abilities: none

Riptide ACV: The Riptide ACV is an Ottoman transport unit. Capable of carrying five infantry units, this hovercraft is also amphibious, allowing it to rapidly maneuver around the battlefield. The Riptide has two torpedo tubes to fend off assault during seaborne action, as well as a machine gun to hold enemy infantry at bay.

Weapons and abilities: machine gun and torpedos.

Ottoman Main Battle Tank: They are simply tanks, but can be upgraded with multiple weapons, gadgets, and other stuff.

Weapons: (you know what a tank has)

The Sky Knight: The Sky Knight is an Unmanned Combat Air Vehicle (UCAV), designed to operate from modern Aircraft Carriers. Their unmanned design, coupled with the automated production facilities aboard the Carrier, lowers the amount of crew needed to operate the ship, as well as the overall size of it, to feasible limits.

When not in use, the Sky Knights are constantly monitored below deck. The Sky Knights are launched in squadrons of five, and release a single 500lb bomb upon reaching a target. The drones are quick and easy to replace if destroyed; and Captains can use their expendable nature to draw AA fire away from more expensive manned aircraft flying in the same airspace.

Weapons and abilites: 500 pound, armor-destroying bombs.

Dolphins: Dolphins are deployed by Ottoman commanders primarily as scout units. Ottoman commanders have fitted the dolphins with special equipments which amplify their sonar pulses, allowing them to actually damage enemy ships. They are highly effective in groups, as their sonic pulses could damage multiple targets at once.

Dolphins had also been trained to jump out of water for a brief moment, allowing them to dodge torpedoes and other weaponry. If they do get hurt, they usually die quickly due to the lack of any serious armor, though they can be healed by an engineer's medical tent.

Weapons and abilities: sonar pulse weapon

Assault Destroyers: During the Accidental War, the Solar Ottomans was encroached from every direction. The Solar Ottomans sought a versatile solution to coastal threats that could press onto the shore to secure a beachhead. Years of design conducted in secret, headed by the finest panel of international military vehicle specialists ever assembled by the Solar Ottomans, resulted in the Assault Destroyer—an amphibious warship featuring a highly accurate armor-piercing cannon suitable for land and sea warfare, as well as layers of specially-designed armor that can be activated to draw enemy fire away from otherwise-unprotected targets.

Assault destroyers are so massive that only Ottoman seaports are large enough to manufacture them, even though the vessels themselves are fully as capable on land as they are at sea. In fact, on land, the relative girth of Assault Destroyers is such that they dwarf most other vehicles, including the Crusader's own main battle tanks (when used in the Revenge Crusade). These vessels all are fitted with a swivel-mounted armor-piercing main gun, more powerful and no less accurate than that of virtually any modern tank, and their performance characteristics on land rival all but the Soviet Union's own Apocalypse tanks. Of course, unlike Apocalypse Tanks, Assault Destroyers can traverse land and sea with equal ease, which recently has come into play throughout numerous combat encounters between Ottoman and Crusader forces near the Strait of Gibraltar as well as near the Crusader's base on the island of Rhodes.

In spite of the Assault Destroyer's raw power as an amphibious armored assault vehicle, its greatest strength may be its defensive capability. First and foremost, this vessel's reinforced hull can shrug off all but the most violent of concussive blasts—the Assault Destroyer is probably the single most heavily armored element of the Ottoman military, rivaling even the Ottoman Aircraft Carriers. Yet while heavy armor is nothing special to the modern battlefield, magnetically-charged "black hole armor" most certainly is. Each Assault Destroyer has the capability to activate a special field, which causes nearby ordnance to gravitate toward the Assault Destroyer instead of its intended target. While purposely drawing enemy fire may seem like lunacy, the Assault Destroyer's extremely durable hull absorbs most enemy fire as a fine sponge soaks up a spilt beverage.

Assault destroyers' black hole armor makes them probably the single most reassuring sight that other Ottoman forces could hope to encounter on the battlefield. Even though activating the black-hole armor field means having to avoid use of their main guns for fear of internal combustion, Assault Destroyers still are extremely powerful when not attacking simply because they can prevent more-vulnerable Ottoman forces from coming to harm. Thankfully, at least, Ottoman forces tuned to the same encrypted frequencies as Assault Destroyers need not fear damaging their brothers-in-arms, and may fire through the black-hole field as normal.

Weapons and abilities: a Reugart-GX 120 mm cannon, black hole armor, and reinforced composite hull.

(these are currently the only units The Solar Ottomans/USSO has. I may work on the units that the Russian SFSR, Japanese Empire, and the Fifth Reich have in the future, if you want to see them)
