[COURSE] How to Manually Recruit

HOW TO MANUALLY RECRUIT

Manual recruitment is crucial for any region to grow. Of the three types of recruitment (Manual, API & Stamps), manual recruitment has the shortest queue times, which means recruitment telegrams get to new nations so much faster than by stamp & API. Manual recruitment, however, requires volunteers who are willing to put in some of their time for the regional good, and said volunteers need to know what to do. Whether or not you are willing to volunteer is very much up to you, but this dispatch will give you the understanding you need.

Saving Telegram Templates
If you have already set up a recruitment telegram template or already know how, feel free to skip this part.

The first thing you need to do before manually recruiting is to save a telegram template. First, compose a new telegram in your telegrams page. Type "tag:template" into the recipients text box. Paste your recruitment telegram into the text box. Click the triangle on the right side of the recipients box, and a drop-down will open out. Tick the box marking your template as a recruitment template for the region. NOT COMPLETING THIS STEP AND RECRUITING WITH AN UNMARKED TEMPLATE CAN GET YOU IN TROUBLE WITH ON-SITE MODERATORS.

Hit send. Don't worry, it won't send your telegram to anyone, it will just save it as a new template.

Once you have sent your telegram template, you will find a green box at the top of your screen giving you a code. It will look like %TEMPLATE-[numbers]%. That's it - you've got your template set up and are ready to go! Be sure to copy the code.

Sending Recruitment Telegrams

Now, we will see how to actually get these templates used. First of all, for the sake of your hands, please do not attempt to manually recruit on a phone. It is possible, but it will be quite painful and very slow.

Go to this page. It will show you a list of nations which were recently founded and is updated in real time.

Scroll down until you reach the nations founded around 30 minutes ago.

Holding Ctrl, click the nation names listed on the page. This should open the nation pages in new tabs. Do this for (almost) all nations from those founded 30 minutes ago to Seconds ago. Do not recruit nations over 30 minutes old, as the chances of your telegram reaching them is quite low due to various game mechanics. There are some extra guidelines on which nations you should NOT send recruitment telegrams to. More on this later.

Once you have opened all the pages, click on one of them. Hit the "Write Telegram" button at the bottom of that page, and paste in your recruitment telegram template code from earlier. Hit send. Close the tab (ideally using Ctrl+W to save your hands), and repeat until you run out of nations' pages.

Congratulations! You've successfully manually recruited. Hold your head up high, knowing you've done your part for regional growth. You may notice that it

Nations You Should NOT Attempt to Recruit

There are some nations which you should not attempt to recruit for a variety of reasons. They may hold values we do not tolerate here in Thaecia, or may be puppets who will waste your time. This section shows you how to spot and avoid such nations. Don't worry if you do send them a telegram - even if they do move to Thaecia, they will likely be banned by a regional officer.

You should NOT attempt to recruit:

  • Fascists.

    • Fascist nations are usually identifiable by a number of ways. A nation could express fascist sentiments in their:

      • Nation name

      • Flag

      • National motto.

    • If you see a fascist nation, report them to on-site mods, as they are likely breaking site rules.

  • Puppets

    • Normally, people who are making puppets will leave markers somewhere that they are puppets. Such markers to look out for are:

      • Repeated nation names

      • Nations with numbers in them

      • Repeated national flags

      • Nations with flags of major regions

      • Nations which move to Jump Point regions (like Crystal Falls, Artificial Solar System, Frozen Cirlce, Devide by Zero, etc.)

      • Nations which apply to, but are not admitted to, the WA. Do not rule a nation out on this criterion alone.

Nations in the red boxes are puppets, and sending them recruitment telegrams are a waste of your time.
