Aster for Skyweaver!
Hello Starlight and Horizon! My name is Aster, also known as
Ubertas, and I am running to be Starlight & Horizon’s inaugural Skyweaver. So I am sure you are all wondering, “Wait a second, who are you?” Well, to start, I am relatively new, having joined the community in early July of 2026. and am a Starborn residing in Horizon. I am deeply honored that everyone connected with me as much as I did with them, enough to nominate me for Skyweaver. After joining through word of mouth from a fellow Starborn, I made Starizon my home. The community here has been nothing but welcoming and wonderful. I had never encountered such a vibrant, dedicated, and active community in my 6+ years of playing NS. It propelled me to get as involved as I was able, pushing me into roles as Deputy Minister of WA Affairs, Flamewarden staffer, Gameside staffer, and Foreign Affairs Ambassador to The Frontier Sea in just a month. I also roleplay in Dawnbreak, where I am proud to have played a small part in setting the back-to-back posting records of a whopping 26 and 32 posts a few weeks ago. In what you could also call a "past NS life," I led the Foreign Ministry and held the title of head of state of a pretty large (~800 nations at the time) UCR, so I am no stranger to gameplay or government.
So before we dive into things, I want to set the stage for my campaign. My slogan is “Ad Astra per Aster.” Yes, it’s a cheeky slogan using my name, but thanks to Google Translate, I realized it means much more than that. It means "to the stars, through the stars." Aster is apparently not merely a flower I like, but also a Latin word for “stars.” My slogan, and thus my campaign, reflects my desire to bring Starizon to even greater heights with everyone’s support. If the stars uplift me to the skies, I vow to help uplift them in turn.

The Skyweaver is a new role; therefore, whoever is elected will get the first chance at defining how it can look, behave, and function. This is a great honor, and an exciting opportunity! I want to first outline how I see the role and how I hope to function in it.
Marshaling Resources: With the Aetherion effectively running each government/leading the term, I foresee the Skyweaver assisting with the daily marshalling of resources. Much like a Prime Minister or a Chief of Staff, the Skyweaver will help to coordinate, execute, and keep regular tabs on the various internal projects and visions the current government has for the term. This gives the TC more time to administer the vision as a whole, deal with foreign affairs, and guide the overall apparatus while the Skyweaver pushes activity, daily/weekly tasks, etc.
Harnessing budding creative energies: I see this role as one where the Skyweaver learns aspects of running the region from the Triune Circle and Aetherion, while also being allowed to help keep the machine running as well. This will also allow budding members of the region to put their own passion projects or popular ideas into place, especially ones that bring together different ministries or the talents of our Aethereal Council. While a Skyweaver may not have the same experience or abilities as the AC and TC, the role puts them in a direct position to tap that wellspring and make their ideas reality.
Passing the Torch: The Skyweaver is, in my eyes, intended to be geared toward the upcoming/budding talent, with the Aetherion taking a more senior, experienced role. Being an advisor to the Triune Circle presents an opportunity to uplift other budding members, make them better leaders for our community, and perpetuate the successes Starlight & Horizon have had. I hope to be advised by our incredible Aethereal Council and Triune Circle as much as I advise it.
Developing Budding Talent: With the Skyweaver being more accessible to budding starborn, I believe it also has a role in mentoring future Skyweavers and members of government. Specifically, I feel it should engage newcomers more and help identify upcoming talent. We already have an immensely robust meritocratic system through staffing and mentoring, and I want to keep that alive and even further that effort. A community like ours needs fresh talent always, and the knowledge of how to run a community like this should be passed down regularly. I plan to learn and help assist in identifying folks with potential, and encourage them to apply for staffer or leadership positions.
The Skyweaver is flexible and can be a role capable of not only coordinating ministries but also tying their work together to make something new. Skyweaver has the unique potential to create some exciting cross-ministry projects. To that end, I want to put forward a few ideas I have in mind. These won’t be in the form of overhauling ministries or creating new roles, as this is something I believe is the purview of the Aetherion. However, I do believe in the Skyweaver’s role as a ‘canvas for new ideas,’ to paraphrase what folks have said in the past. Additionally, I am happy to have these be subject to change and temperament from the Aetherion (and their goals for the term) and starborn. Sometimes, ideas have power by merely being spoken, and I’d like to use this campaign as a platform for a few of them, much like how I envision the Skyline to work.
That aside, said ideas:
Deep Dive into the World Assembly: One of the incredible things about the region is the level of WA involvement we have. This is not an accident: we have an incredible ministry, a WA secretary, and many ways for new authors to get involved and feel supported. Unfortunately, even with these programs, the WA can be overwhelming for new authors. It’s one thing to learn how to draft; it’s another to learn the culture, norms, and customs of the WA – especially with so many colorful characters and tacit, decades-long aspects you learn by trial and error. I believe we can do better. One of my visions for this term would be to work with our Media and WAA ministries to interview our experienced pool of folks, and possibly even S7 citizens, to help pull the curtain back for budding WAers. They can advise on how to tackle critiques (how to heed advice or when to stand your ground), what some advanced rules are, and hidden aspects of the GA culture. These can be little things, like how to format your draft proposal (ex., where to put subsequent drafts, how to format the post in BBCode, etc.), or larger things such as what can be enforced/not, rules on committees, etc. These can be little things, like how to format your draft proposal (ex., where to put subsequent drafts, how to format the post in BBCode, etc.), or larger things such as philosophies of WA law and proposal scope.
Binary Stars Program: The existing staffer program is, in many ways, a mentorship program. However, Starlight and Horizon are honestly quite large and overwhelming for newcomers. Especially newbies to nationstates itself. That shouldn’t prevent talent from being developed, though. I feel that much of the current system is predicated on having some prior knowledge of NS in general.
For those interested in GP and regional government, I want to start a buddy system, so to speak. The intent is to have starborn apply to shadow a member of the AC, TC, or leaders in Ministry. That person would be allowed to see how things are run, be privy to certain channels, and watch how the stars are made, so to speak. How much access they are given would be up to the TC. They’d also have a direct line to their mentor. I also want to let mentees act in their mentors' capacity, possibly for a day, with explicit instructions on what they want their mentee to do.
This could be folded in with the Minister Secretary role, and perhaps we appoint such persons to those roles and give them these experiences.
First Light: We’ve arguably got one of the best roleplay regions in the entire game. But I worry that some folks may be unsure of where to enter. Enter the First Light: I want to work with the culture ministry to hold an event where willing and experienced RPers and the MoC plan a story and have new RPers interact with them. The MoC and selected veteran roleplayers can help them to make a character, draft posts, etc., and develop their RP voice!
The Skyline: When I first came here, I had a lot of questions and ideas just by poking around and seeing how the Luminous Triarchy worked in my first week, and later as a staffer. However, these just didn't feel appropriate for the Halls or the welcome/questions chat. Enter Skyline. I want to create a public suggestion box and forum, the Skyline, where such ideas can be put forward. Starborn can ask questions about how/why the government works, and staffers can bring up ideas for the region (especially ones that may cross different ministries). Most of all, I want a safe space where Starborn can brainstorm together and feel safe to ask for things my office can review, synthesize, and bring to the Triune Circle.
