The Influential - Breaking Royal Family News

Nicholas, The King Father, has died, aged 81

Nicholas, The King Father, who was hospitalized less than a year ago for unknown reasons, has died, according to Delaney Palace.

"It is with deep regret and sorrow that Delaney Palace announce the passing of Prince Nicholas, The King Father," the announcement reads. "A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and beloved leader, among other roles, Prince Nicholas served Saint Arsenio each day without fail, standing alongside his wife, Queen Pavonis, before, during, and after her reign, and supporting his son, His Majesty King Macio, in all capacities, until the very end."

The announcement described Prince Nicholas' death as 'untimely' but 'peaceful' and asked that the family's privacy be respected during this 'delicate' time.

SABN, the public service network of Saint Arsenio, was the first station to break the news. Per protocol, its chief anchor, Francesca Cantrell, appeared in a black dress as the news was announced.

All Saint Arsenian flags will be flown at half-mast for two weeks. All news broadcasters will be required to appear in black clothing for the public mourning period, and SABN will air a short tribute to the late prince every other hour. Prince Nicholas' body will likely lay in state for five days, as is tradition, inside Wilmington Manor as visitors pay their respects.

More updates on this matter as information is released.

"I have faith in His Majesty's judgement, and that faith has been reciprocated": the words of the Prime Minister, the Earl of Norwich, early this morning as he returned to London overnight after the revelation of his presence at Kingston Lacy, the current residence of the King, Charles I. He was caught by the press as he entered the Treasury building in Whitehall, before he was ushered in to what we believe to be a normal economic committee undertaken by the Chancellor of the Exchequer.

Parliament has been split by these latest developments, with the Pharechild faction noticeably quiet on the matter. One insider, a fervent supporter of Norwich, suggested that they had "accepted defeat" following "fanciful notions of a coup, something unlikely to happen in this nation", but many believe this silence to be the calm before the storm. One political analyst and a former colleague of Louis Pharechild, the Duke of Kent, reported that "[to] many in the camp, these events have merely solidified the PMs unsuitability to rule."

In other news, HRH Prince William (Heir to the throne and Duke of Normandy) has stated his trip to the Commonwealth was a "roaring success" and he looked forward to "future cooperation". He is set to fly back to London Heathrow this evening.

Sure! It's being organised by the Sovereign, and most of the planning takes place on our discord.

31st January, 2020
The day broke over Rome, the bells of thousands of churches heralded the birth of a sacred day, the day that Pope John XXIV would be crowned in a ceremony as old as the Papal States itself. In the Basilica itself, hundreds were rushing around in preparation for not only the large number of invited attendants but the thousands expected to show up to see the Holy Father in the flesh. And the rooftop of the Palace of Sixtus V was also prepared to house Journalists to give them a vantage point. Everything had to be perfect for this important special day.

As the day began to truly break, Vatican hill was alive with vibrant activities as the Cardinals and representatives from around the globe began to arrive for the Papal Coronation. Amongst them were nearly seventy cardinals, heads of state, heads of Government, ambassadors and others alike. The Pope, meanwhile, was making final preparations; wishing to model himself on Pope Paul VI, he would not wear his own Tiara.

*Time skip*

The Papal Guard began to lead the Grand procession into the square, dressed in their stunning and colourful livery. Each of them carried a large pike, per tradition. Then following them were members of the papal household, equally as finely dressed; with them was an attendant carrying the Papal Tiara on a red cushion, another carrying the mitre. Shortly after came the rhythmic sound of a prayer being chanted, thus came forward the clerics, curial officials and prelates vested in white with white mitres. After them came a variety of papal officials of higher rank in costumes of 16-century Spanish grandees, and the prefect of pontifical ceremonies, Archbishop Francisco Alvarez.

A thunderous fanfare of buglers bursts throughout St Peter's square as eight men emerge carrying the pope on a portable throne, the sedia gestatoria, canopied in cream-coloured silk and flanked by two flabelli (long-handled, semicircular ostrich-feather fans that "lend an exotic touch to the scene"), as well as by sword-bearing Swiss Guards, by a dozen mace bearers, by more members of the papal household and by senior officers of the Vatican's military forces. The Pope wore a gold mitre and white gloves, and he was covered in "a large richly-embroidered cape that enveloped him from neck to feet". His papal ring could be seen as he blessed the crowd. As the papal procession came through the square, trumpets played the Pontifical Anthem and the bells of the basilica were rung. Arriving near the altar, the Pope took his throne and received each of the cardinals in order of seniority as they offered their obedience.

Then came the mass, for which the pope was vested. The epistle was then sung in both Latin and Greek. After it was complete, the pope delivered a homily on the importance of world peace, tolerance and the teachings of Christ as a humble shepherd.

As the day drew on, the sun had set, the mass had concluded; floodlights illuminated the Papal throne. The pope then walked to the throne for the coronation ceremony, the crowd cheering him. A choir intoned the hymn "Corona aurea super caput ejus". Next the Dean of the College of Cardinals led the recitation of the Lord's Prayer and the cardinal deacon Jorio removed the mitre from Pope's head. Finally Cardinal Benvenga held the papal tiara high above the Pope's head so the crowd could see it sparkle in the brilliant lighting and then placed it on the Pope's head, saying in Latin: "Receive the tiara adorned with three crowns and know that thou art the Father of Princes and Ruler of Kings, the Vicar on Earth of Our Savior Jesus Christ, to whom is honor and glory through the ages". The bells of St. Peter's Basilica rang, soon joined by the bells of Rome's 500 churches. The Pope then delivered his blessing to the city and the world, "urbi et orbi", and the crowd responded with an ovation.

Moments ago the Wessex Aviation Authority issued a vague announcement stating that "a currently unverified Royal Jet has seemingly crashed somewhere off the coast of the Netherlands". In it, they expressed caution and that they were yet to establish the facts, and that were currently attempting to contact the collection of Royal Private Jets returning from the Commonwealth following Prince Williams State Visit. The Duke of Normany is yet to arrive at London Heathrow following a later-than-scheduled departure from Poland.

The Prince-Regent did offer words of support for the WAA and that he "hopes and prays for a swift and happy resolution to this matter", while members of Government have so far said nothing of worthy note.

In other news, Princess Alexandra has finally been cleared to leave hospital following the birth of her first-child: she's expected to leave in the next 24 hours or so.

The Influential | King Macio makes remarks after the death of Prince Nicholas, The King Father

His Majesty, late Monday evening, made remarks following the death of Prince Nicholas, The King Father. The speech, televised on news networks and broadcasted on radio channels, took place inside the Royal Broadcasting Room under dimmed lighting--a tradition for televised royal speeches made in response to undesirable events.

"Good evening, Saint Arsenio," King Macio began, wearing a black suit and tie. "Thank you, truly, for joining me tonight. On behalf of my family, I express my sincerest gratitude at all your well wishes, support, and prayers as we navigate this new, difficult reality of life without my father. A deeply loved and honorable husband, friend, and leader, my father represented the morals, work ethic, and grit of a true Saint Arsenian. He was a man devoted to both his country and to his family until the very end, and always made time for both."

The heartfelt speech included mentions of the late royal's accomplishments, and the close relationships he maintained with the rest of the royal family, as well as with the public.

"As I end this commemoration, I want you to remember that my father would not want us to dwell in sadness or despair. We can all honor him best by continuing his charitable work here in Saint Arsenio and abroad. Once again, thank you all for your care and compassion. God Bless you, God Bless your families, and God Bless Saint Arsenio."

The broadcast concluded with King Macio fading out, and a minute-long tribute to the late royal featuring photos from some of the most notable moments of Prince Nicholas' life, including his commissioning as an officer in the Saint Arsenian Marine Corps, the coronation of his wife, the births of their three children, and the coronation of King Macio.

I'm tempted to perhaps do some more lore for Minglong...

"It is with deep sorrow that HRH The Prince-Regent announces the death of his much-loved elder brother, HRH The Duke of Normandy, Prince William. His Royal Highness was amongst those who sadly perished on the private flight returning from the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. His body has been identified, and will arrive by RAF Convoy in the coming day." - Statement from Windsor Castle, on behalf of the Godwinson Royal Family.

The statement, issued at 4pm GMT, confirmed the country's worst fears that the heir to the throne had been amongst those who had died following a freak crash over the coast of the Netherlands. Suspicions had arisen even further when a Royal Jet landed at Gatwick in the early hours of the morning, its most notable passenger being the Prince's Private Secretary, Sir Stephen Crews, who seemed visibly shaken and was quickly escorted to a car before the press could take more photos.

It is understood that the Duke of Normandy's coffin will fly into the country within the next 48 hours, before making its way into London via a Royal barge down the Thames.

The death of the Heir apparent now means that the Prince-Regent, formerly HRH Prince James, the Baron Cherbourg, is now next in line to the throne. HM The King has made no official statement, following his continuing rehabilitation at Kingston Lacy, in Dorset.
