That's really awesome, and I like how it has the stuff you should consider when developing the character. Thanks for sharing it with us. :)

This is a great idea, thank you for sharing it! I always promise myself to tell the story of the kingdom and then unfortunately I can't. Maybe soon I will finally be able to write something.

Wintermoot wrote:Hey Wintreath! Today we have a new poll: Capitalism or Communism? Cast your vote and chat with us here why you voted the way you did if you'd like!

I have to admit I'm having trouble answering this survey. I think I'll abstain this time. The fact is that in my personal view both communism and capitalism have their flaws. I could talk about it for a long time and I'm not sure I can since English is not my first language... I would say capitalism even though I know that I don't approve of many things about capitalism only because in my opinion communism in itself is a sort of unattainable utopia (?). It's definitely a choice I can't make hahaha. Maybe I'm just too moderate

Yeah, moderate socialism along with free enterprise is the way to go (scandinavian liberal paradise)

yeah it is punishable by death in singapore i think. also double checked.

That's the challenge of taking away the nuance and forcing a choice...they both have flaws, but if someone put a gun to your head and forced you to make a choice, which would it be?

Personally, I support capitalism with reforms to prevent the sort of egregious, overwhelming greed that we see today. People should have the right to follow a dream of becoming wealthy, but not so wealthy that it impacts the rights of others as we often see today...the rich should be taxed a fair share to support the less fortunate and in many cases the services that allowed them to become rich to start with. The influence of money over politics should be curbed. People should have the right to food, safe housing, and medical care. We should continue experimenting with universal basic income, which from what I've read so far people use to pay debts and to get training for better jobs, NOT to just be lazy like some people claim. We should make sure inflation doesn't cut into people's real wages...and so forth and so on. But I do believe in the fundamental right for people to pursue wealth and to live according to their wealth...I just believe we should have safeguards for people less fortunate in the process.

But there's no option for that so I voted for capitalism :D

I suppose that means one real-world nation agrees with you :)

yeah.

and also kiribati for some reason.

Welcome back again! It was nice to hear about your nation. :)

To be endorsed, you'll need to join the World Assembly. The link to join it should be on this page. If you have more than one nation, keep in mind that you can only be in the World Assembly on one nation. Let us know when you've joined, and I'm sure you'll get some endorsements!

Yes, there is! You can read about our Minecraft server here: https://wintreath.com/forums/index.php?board=68 (or click the Minecraft link at the top of the region page).

To join the server, you'll need to be whitelisted by our Minecraft server owner. To get whitelisted, just join our Discord (link at the top of the region page), then ping @Tau Valeria in the #minecraft channel with your username.

That is a lot of experimentation! I'm not sure I've ever met someone who has tried out more things on more nations...sure, other people have puppets, but they're usually for raiding/defending or farming cards. I have a few to chat on some other region pages and for minigames like N-Day. At least you seem to be enjoying NationStates through all of it. :D

What you're saying about the people of Arkhaion reminds me of a lot, especially an article I read a few years ago called "The Tyranny of Convenience", which was about how technology was supposed to free us to develop ourselves as people and as a society, but it's actually caused convenience to become an end of its own...instead of freeing up more time for us to study, interact with each other, or do things, we end up spending most our days on social media or binge-watching videos. I'm also reminded of something I read about the Amish, who actually aren't necessarily opposed to technology and experiment with it when it first comes out. In the case of the car, they noticed that people who had them drove to other cities for entertainment in their free time instead of staying in the community, and that's why they decided not to use them...it took people away from their communities. I feel like that would fit right in with your world of considering human and environmental consequences.

I'm sure you didn't expect a lengthy paragraph about the real world, but your nation touches on things I'm becoming more passionate about as time goes on. I think it would be neat to spend some time there, enjoying a society with less mindless tech and more of the human touch.

Usually I discord common and even uncommon cards unless they're nations of people I know or Wintreath nations. You get a small bit of money for each one you discard, so it's not a total loss.

You can buy more card capacity too from your cards page. I think you can buy capacity for 100 more cards at a time, and the cost doubles each time. Donators to NationStates get +100 capacity for free, so those are some options too. Those might not be the exact numbers...it's been a long time since I've had to buy capacity, but that's the gist of it.

Even if they were just smoking weed? I think that's punishable by death in Singapore, isn't it?

Hey! Couldn't hurt, you never know when you'll need a noble person template. I'm still building my nation lore when I have time...

I don’t have discord

Hey Wintreath! The capitalist/communist poll is pretty divided, but at the moment it looks like capitalism is winning out 15-9. We'll see if that holds though!

Also, welcome to new nations A J E and Pregando! We're glad to have you with us here in Wintreath! If you feel comfortable introducing yourself and letting us know what made you interested in joining us, we'd love to hear it. :)

greetings. been many years since I last used NationStates, and this region seems like a nice place to be! especially compared to the frontier region I was put in, that was... interesting, hah.
we are Shayal, a nation of techno-animists who worship technology and see transhumanism as holy. I should probably get around to writing factbooks sometime, our nation has lore but we've yet to properly expand on it - most of the lore I've made before has been centred around the religion itself, which interestingly I created for a different game!

Hello, I'm a new member. I got a question. Is there a way to upload or have a custom flag?

Y'all gotcha an awfully nice banner there.
Thank ya kindly.

Nvm, Got it.

Hey Wintreath, and happy Friday! :D I hope everyone in the region has a great weekend, whether you're fortunate enough to get the weekend off or not.

Wow, Capitalism ($) has really started to run away with the poll! Over the last day, it's gone from an almost-tie to winning 2-1 (24 votes to 12 votes). Given how left many NationStates players are, I'm a bit surprised to see capitalism running away with the poll so quickly...but, there's still plenty of time left for things to change.

Somewhat related, I learned just last night that monarcho-communism is a thing. I'm starting to think that at least on paper you can mix and match just about any ideology lol.

We have some new and returning nations today, too! Welcome to Depenese-Napulia, The keltormyr order, Penguin Mountains (now we have two penguin nations, along with Penguin Dictators ^-^), Abc123doreme, and Alpise, and welcome back to Goobere. I'm glad you joined up with us, and hope that Wintreath ends up being everything you're looking for in NationStates. If you feel comfortable, feel free to introduce yourself and let us know what made you decide to join Wintreath. We'd love to hear. :)

Welcome again! The Frontiers can be interesting, just because they're still kinda new and all kinds of people are trying to build them...the allure of having nations just pop up in your region with no work involved and all.

How interesting...in some ways your nation is the complete opposite of Arkhaion, whose people renounced most post-medieval technology besides medicine. I'm curious to know how Shayal would interact with a nation that's the opposite of what you stand for.

I've been meaning to write more factbooks for my in-lore nation, Idantir, too...just hard to find the time sometimes.

Thanks! When custom region banners first came out, I just found one on the internet so I can't take credit there. I've always meant to try to make something more unique, but time...

Welcome again! I'm glad you got it working. Actually our last region poll was on how people find their flags, and the vast majority use custom flags, so it's a well-used feature.

we are not a violent nation, so it is likely we would keep our distance as much as necessary. no point trying to spark a fire when not needed. they have their ways, we have ours. in cases where we'd HAVE to interact, I would imagine we would try to be calm and peaceful, but probably a very tense meeting hahah.

Hello! Welcome to Wintreath.

I was making Military Factbook, I put the flag of the 3 Branches of Armed forces, Army, Airforce and Navy. They do appear as images, But the Image of the flag doesn't appear itself. Just like a blank image placeholder. Anyone know why?

Huh, we have a embassy here?
