In my humble opinion, once authoritarianism is settled and a nation/state is under the rule of power and force, the monstruosity of Man will soon reveal itself. Give complete power to petty tyrants and bullies and frustrated nobodies and you'll see their true colours of brutality, boorishness and utter disregard for everything that's beautiful and good. It's the end of decency. The Evil in Man takes over and no one is safe. The days of mild people are numbered and woe betide the weak and those who can't protect themselves.

Well said. Sounds like something out of Lord of the Rings

Really ? Wow. Thank you.

Was doing a little searching around about evergreen trees and their scent. If you're interested, these are short reads:

It's fitting that The Festivities of Christmas Eve is the "Best Nation" of Christmas.

Pretty fun scrolling through those listed for the region. We have very fun nations here :)

Is there a list for regions to view Best Nation?

...and came out 347th in the verse. A very respectable ranking!

Too bad the results are all gone now. :(

Yeah, I quite liked the look of the best nation cards. It would have been nice if they had turned it into a permanent feature, sort of like the challenge game. And you could always check in to see which nations had risen to the top, at any given period.

Anyway, looks like they're at least keeping the page alive with the regional leaderboards:

You as well. I'm off to make deviled eggs, as we speak.

I wish you and your family the same. :)

I decided that this year we were going to have a traditional Polish Easter dinner. I spent today visiting all the Polish Deli's in the city and stocked up on such as pierogis, kielbasa, stuffed cabbage, and butter shaped like lambs. I also picked up a couple of the 1 kilo, blessed, round rye breads and 4 dozen eggs for the kids to decorate.

Well, my children liked the Easter dinner. I have to do this again next year with another nationality's cuisine.

Very nice. That's my family's normal Easter meal, almost recreated perfectly. We go with some blessed babka rather than rye, and also include ham. But basically the same. Especially that butter in the shape of a lamb!

It might be interesting to discover what Latin American cultures usually serve on Easter, given the strong tradition of Christianity there, and their incredible food culture.

I was thinking of that. There is no end of local resources of the ingredients where I live.

Which reminds me...there was an employee who worked where I worked named Charles Luna. He received a lot of mail addressed to Charles Tuna. This reminded me of an advertisement that I saw for Star Kist Tuna with the tag line "Sorry Charlie; StarKist wants tuna that tastes good, not tuna with good taste". lol

Hahah. "Charlie Tuna" is an incredible name. I am going to use that for something, but I don't know what. Sounds like he could be a mafioso type, or it could be the name of a gnome or hobbit for DnD, or simply the name of your local, long-suffering butcher.

I'll look for your puppet nation. lol

In my nation we only celebrate holidays that honor our government.

What about days that honour a historical plot to blow up the government?

What about a holiday to celebrate each and every holiday that honors the government, plus a holiday to celebrate the fact that the government declares such holidays ?
