There was a saying in other countries that corrupt and crooked officers were "bad apples" in the law enforcement batch. If one were to liken the police of Gran Tesca to a batch metaphorically, it would be far easier to count the apples that aren't already rotten to the core.

There was not a day in his life that Jacobo Arciniega would not stare blankly at the mirror of his run-down apartment bathroom for an hour, contemplating all the profanities to shout at himself for joining such a rotten organization. One could consider him a "good apple" - he never took bribes, moved children out of harm's way whenever he could, exerted himself to catch gangsters when his colleagues sat around smoking the very crack they traffick. But that was just his instinct as a father of three. The only reason he joined the police was to protect himself and his family, being able to carry firearms on his body wherever he went. He could never do anything meaningful that could change a society tormented by cartels and corrupt officials, but he could at least protect his 3, 4, and 6-year-old daughters from the horrors of the streets.

He'd always anticipated that things would never get better. But the reality that they would get so much worse was beyond what he could stomach.

Downtown San Ludres, 23 March, 2024
"Stand down! Or we will fire!", a police commissioner shouted through a megaphone in the direction of an enraged crowd of demonstrators blocking a 4-way intersection. Lines of armored men aimed rifles loaded with rubber bullets at the protestors. But it was clear that a couple dozen riot police could not contain the anger that had been spurring for ages embodied by the swelling protests.

Officer Arciniega would find himself and a few other squads called in to assist the crowd control efforts. Where his superiors saw pests to be dispersed, Arciniega saw human beings who had lives turning to crap. If there were anyone who deserved the agonizing sting of a rubber bullet, it was the faceless personnel loyal to the wreck that called itself a government.

"Damn that hack Montilla for resigning.", Arciniega muttered under his breath as the armored car escorting his squad approached the rally. He hated cowards who refused to take responsibility, with every bone in his body.

An officer sitting next to him - the good-for-nothing, sleazy, perverted Eduardo Mendez who was drunk half the time and high the other half - peered out the car window and couldn't help but laugh at the ragged demonstrators. "'It's been a while since I -hic- got to arrest someone."

"Did you not handle those Antonio cartel guys in the San Imelda neighborhood the other day? Oh wait, you bought from them.", Arciniega snapped. The only thing preventing him from beating the lives out of his colleagues was the fact he knew insubordination would make his family a target of law enforcement on top of whichever crooks writhed in the streets.

Before tensions could break between the two cops, a BANG could be heard in the crowd. Some upset person in the crowd must have thrown a rock at the police prompting a heavy response, or maybe an officer was just bored. Whatever the case, chaos ensued. As Arciniega and the other reinforcements unloaded from their vehicles, the protest-turned-riot was an anarchic mess of batons, rubber bullets, molotovs, and tear gas. A police car was on fire, and over a dozen demonstrators were lying wounded. One of the wounded who was hit in the head with a tear gas canister seemed to not be breathing.

Much less violent than expected.

The commissioner noticed the reinforcements, "Alright boys, you know what to do. Don't forget to look out for anyone who appears to be a journalist or reporter, they're rioters as far as I'm concerned."

As the other officers dispersed to aid the stationed personnel in tackling whoever they could to the ground and hauling them into any police van that hasn't been hit with a molotov, Arciniega couldn't help but dissociate with the surrounding world. The angry shouts, fearful screams, crackling of flames, cracking of bones - it all eclipsed into a uniform background ringing like that of tinnitus. Jacobo noticed among the chaotic crowd, teenagers. 15, 16, 17 year old kids who could have been in school preparing for their future. But the schools were underfunded at best. Ruined in firefights between gangs at worst. What future was there to prepare for? These kids were destitute, angry, fearful. And it was them, rather than the gangsters, who felt the brunt of the police crackdowns.

Snapping back after an explosion erupted mere meters from him, Arciniega opted to do what he could to better live with himself as a father. He dashed to a laying teenage protestor, blood and bruises decorating his head.

"Stay with me!", the overwhelmed officer shouted, while cleaning the teenager's face with his handkerchief, "I won't arrest you. But if you can get up, I will make sure you get to safety."

The protestor's hazy vision cleared upon noticing the badge on Arciniega's chest, "Safety? Is that another euphemism for jail. I've been arrested 4 times already, I know your tricks and schemes. Get your bloodstained, drug filled hands off me and let me get arrested in a more honest manner."

Arciniega just stared. He knew the kid was right to think such. Anyone else from the squads he came from would have taken him to the "safety" behind bars. In a world where he didn't selfishly join the police for safety, he would have been among these demonstrators. And so, without uttering another word, Arciniega complied with the wounded teen's demands. But he couldn't stop loathing himself for it. From the corner of his eye, he saw the scumbag officer Mendez taunting another wounded protestor of similar age with a bottle of water - drinking it whole and tossing the injured individual the plastic trash.

Things died down relatively quickly, the commissioner narrating the casualties after it appeared all the demonstrators fled or had been apprehended, "3 rioters dead, 62 injured, 106 arrested. 16 personnel injured, 4 cars damaged or destroyed. Relatively clean job, hopefully there aren't any reporters hiding in the bushes eavesdropping. Eh whatever, the gang war is what gets the headlines. Lets pack it up and return to the station."

Just then, another car had parked adjacent to the rest of the police vehicles, and a man with a very clearly exasperated demeanor rushed to the officers.

"There has been a breakout at San Eladio prison.", the man seemed incapable of catching his breath. The news would rob the comfortable breath of everyone who heard it.

The commissioner's face sunk, "San Eladio? THE San Eladio? The largest prison in all of Gran Tesca?"

The envoy nodded.

"So, you are telling me there could be as many as 10,000 of the most violent felons in the country loose?"

The envoy nodded again, before being able to finally catch some oxygen, "There have also been reports of escaped prisoners getting their hands on military-grade weaponry beyond our own equipment. I was sent here from the police precinct since you were too occupied to receive the more urgent news. The 45th battalion on the other side of town was outgunned and decimated in a shooting. We need all the riot personnel we can get to."

Overhearing all of this, Arciniega could not help but feel disdain toward the clear selfish hypocrisy that filled the air. The commander terrified at the notion the cartels now have their most violent members seemed all to content a week ago with paying kickbacks to street gangs. But much as he hated these men, the satisfaction Arciniega had to see them realize the scale of their screw-ups could not remotely account for the much greater fear he held for what would happen to his family. His neighborhood was on "the other side of town". If that land falls to the Antonio cartel...

"What about the rioters? We have a whole crowd of them in custody.", the commissioner inquired.

In a brief moment of defiance, Arciniega interjected, "If they're not armed, let them go."

Just then, an explosion could be heard. A much more precise and devastating blow than any molotov. The crowd of police turned their heads in fear, as the very car the envoy came in was now a charred heap of scrap with whatever may have been the driver's entrails scattered about. Much more terrifying, however, was the source of the burst.

In the distance, a masked man was aiming a rocket-propelled grenade launched at the police. He bore no shirt, revealing his almost entirely tattoo-covered torso. One could see a symbol of skull surrounded by roses decorating his arm. The Antonio cartel had come to take their turf, for the man was not alone.

"Everybody, get the f*** down!". The personnel all instinctively ducked to the ground behind the "safety" of their scattered vehicles. Heavy gunfire rattled the heaps of metal that stood between the gang and the group who enabled them. Attempts to return fire revealed to be futile as it turned out the riot police did not switch out their rubber bullets. The utter fear made most of them too frozen to reach for their more appropriate firearms.

Maybe that was why these cowards served in crowd control, Arciniega thought. They were more comfortable bullying people who couldn't fight back. They left the tasks of arresting actual blights on society to the street patrol officers like himself. It was clear when the crowd control called upon his squads to help them, molotov cocktails were enough to make them shake in their armor.

But whatever rage Arciniega felt, despair would arise as the dominant sentiment in his psyche. Every few moments, the crushing void of despair escalated as another blast was heard. The gangsters were destroying the "barricade" of vehicles one engine at a time. There was no getting out of this. Everyone here was going to die. The cartel will take over all of San Ludres. His wife Amelia... His daughters - Rosa, Nina, Alejandra... Axon knows what will happen to them without him.

Realizing there was nothing that could be done, Arciniega could not help but collapse into laughter, "This is our atonement, isn't it? This is what we get for keeping society sh*t? What even is the point of fighting, shouldn't we be all on the same side."

The other officers could not ignore the final words of their so righteous colleague. Mendez, whose pants were probably soaked in urine, weakly and quietly whimpered, "Same side..."

"When I wake in hell, I will scavenge the fire until I am sure my family is nowhere to be seen.", Arciniega continued.

"We're.. going to hell?", Mendez responded.

"Yes. There, you will get to experience what everyone else already has in this hellhole of a country", Arciniega had enough. Enough of everything. He knew there was no way to escape the impending fate. But maybe it's best to do one right thing before meeting one's end. And so, Arciniega grabbed the head of the drunken officer - who'd always used his power to coerce people to sleep with him - and threw him into the line of fire atop the vehicle barricade. Seeing Mendez' now bullet-ridden body fall back to the ground gave the mildest tinge of satisfaction.

Once more, Arciniega dissociated from the world. The singular remaining car between him and the armed cartel fighters, the sound of surrounding police shredded under machine gun fire, the radiating heat of flames. There was nothing to be calm about: the most likely way he would go was immolation as the car behind him was set ablaze with a successive RPG shot, his family who he joined this rotten agency to protect will have no guardian, the country will plunge into a hell akin to Solmara or Utopia or Talgerria. And yet, these final moments felt like an eternity. An eternity of bliss, to drown out the reality of death and misery.

Jacobo Arciniega's charred body couldn't be recognized by first responders to the aftermath hours later, thus he was listed "missing".

Hail the Confederation

“Completely Out of Our Depth”: Tescan Authorities Plead With International Observers

Chaos and pandemonium strike the heart of Gran Tesca last night after a mass breakdown at San Eladio prison, the nation’s largest most notorious, conducted by gang members seeking to recruit soldiers during the ongoing power vacuum. Upwards of 10,000 prisoners were released and armed by the cartels during the raid, leaving numerous deaths and serious civilian and police casualties in their wake. As the local ruling drug cartels offer to settle the crisis in their own methods, criticising outside “interference”, Estandria offers green light for Armistice peacekeeping forces to approach and begin humanitarian operations. Armistice have vowed to restore order, stability, and ensure a genuine democratic system to the republic.

A simple few hour boat ride across the Tierno bay was what separated the bustling Estandrian coastal metropoles from the chaotic hellscape of Gran Tesca.

In many ways, Estandria vastly stood out compared to neighboring countries along the Estredenan continent. Not only for its substantially lower crime rate and greater levels of development, but also in the intricate ways wherein its society functions. A microcosm of this could be seen in the flourishing coastal city of Ciudaba, where millions of people went about their day-to-day lives in a vivid urban environment.

Glass, steel, and concrete colosses scraped the azure horizon, casting transluscent shadows over the hustling of cars and buses. Afar, yet so close, the commotion of cargo and crew ships docking along the port embedded itself in the heartbeat of the city. Accompanied with towering billboards, one would expect to see this atmosphere not in the cartel-infested continent of Estredena, but in the megalopoles of Kanten and North Usea. But if one were to take a gander at the street-level of such society, there exist elements that may also be found in places the Xaviet Empire. While skyscrapers populate the downtown, most buildings are classical pieces of history - meticulously carved centuries ago and renovated for modern use. Everywhere, there are ubiquitously prudent clothing styles among the eerily homogeous populace, with skin complexions far fairer than the diverse continental norm. Around each corner stand military police, whom you could count how many "disappearances" they have partaken in by how dull their eyes are. Often juxtaposed with billboards of new canned bean products are painstakingly detailed marble statues of great kings of the past.

In a sense, Estandria is a midpoint between materialistic liberal democracy and militaristic royal authoritarianism. Where the electoral process is guided by a powerful executive monarchy and an overbearing armed forces. Perhaps that is why they have keen interest in it. Where the other nations of Estredena are rampant with instability and wanton violence, the cogs that make up the Estandrian apparatus is oiled by far more calculated sources of blood. A stable model regime that the rest of the continent could follow...

The arrival of the 100,000 ton steel behemoths populated by fleets of aerial death machines unto the spacious ports of Ciudaba solidified one thing: Armistice, the emergent alliance of militarized powers brought together by grandiose geopolitical ambitions, has set ground in the chaotic Estredenan hellscape. In the name of democracy. In the name of expansion. It just so happened Estandria was a model nation in the eyes of such international entity. And its flourishing harbors and sophisticated society was the ideal jump-point and refueling station for the newly arriving naval fleet.

As the mammoth vessels that had sailed entire oceans were docking in the cleared sections of the Ciudaba harbor, increasing numbers of Estandrian active duty personnel were being called up to the port military base.

Two soldiers were gazing at the mesmerizingly slow arrival of a Salcanceacan cruiser as they walked in the general direction of the other soldiers in like with the General's orders. One of them, exhaling a plume of nicotine from his cigar-inhabited mouth, private Enrique Correno, couldn't help but voice his dissent caveat with the vague instruction, "So, you telling me they drove us an hour to this noisy-ass city to see some crusty boats. Not even stay the night in the club?"

"Shut the hell up, those aren't no ordinary "crusty boats". My guy, the Kanten fleet!", the other half of the duo - private Oscar Molina - snapped back, "Some of the best "crusty boats" in the world. Were you snoozing when they literally briefed us on this like, an hour ago."

"I don't snooze, I just prioritize my uh physical wellbeing when I hear yapping. The bigger question I wanna know, are they seriously gonna ship us over there? That crazy place they keep saying is on fire and all that?"

Oscar shook his head, "You bet our asses are going to get dumped smack dab in Gran Tesca. We made this whole country gang-free, shouldn't be hard to clean up the rabble in that jungle up north."

"You really seem keen on surrendering your skin to some sicko who listens to too much pop music.", Correno hit back, "Listen man, all the big talk flows over my head, but even I can tell when sh*t won't go tight. Do we really wanna spend all this time in a hellhole where the meth dealers have bazookas? All I'm saying. I know my chances with entering the universities were doomed from the start, but I feel you coulda applied to Casabara State if you tried and not needed to like serve."

The two men walked in brief silence, not as soldiers, but as childhood friends. Oscar broke the pause with a chuckle and grabbed Enrique's head to turn it in the direction of the arriving fleet, "I think you forgot the big thing that we came to see. We're not jumping headfirst into a hellhole alone. We don't got aircraft carriers. Neither do the cartel assholes setting San Ludres aflame. But these Armistice guys do."

As the clusters of marching troops halted by the entrance foyers of the Ciudaba military base, one couldn't help but notice in the distance a stream of uniformed individuals flowing out from a transport vessel onto the docked pier. The first boots of Armistice had implanted themselves onto Estredena.

The Expedition into the Great Dairn Abyss (Part 1)

Written by First Officer Mac Guillermo
Due to the public’s rising concern to the safety of the Eastern Dairn Village; an unbelievably small island community under the Kapi Region with only 200 residents, the Imperial Kam Navy, or IKN, has launched an expedition to explore the very dangerous Great Dairn Abyss. The Abyss has 690 documented whirlpools, with Hydrostorm and Atticus being the largest, one and two respectively. The Abyss also has terrifying currents, which could easily pull cargo ships and fling them into distant waters. The Abyss also has massive waves, which, on average, are 250 feet tall and sometimes 750 feet tall. The largest were documented to be 1,200 to 1,500 feet tall. These strange, horrifying phenomenon where rumored to have been caused by a sinister being living in the depths, according to the locals.
The IKN has sent the submarine unit, Typhoon, and five surface ships; Poseidon, Wavelength, Darkwave, Riptide, and Explorion to put an end to the mystery. 12,000 marines are being deployed, along with 3,000 sailors and 100 airmen, whose planes are Artegents; hypersonic, armed reconnaissance planes.

Relief Efforts Reach Communities

The first of many scheduled humanitarian aid missions have touched down in the Republic of Gran Tesca earlier today. Deliveries of food and medical equipment to be used in provided mobile clinics were airlifted via helicopters from the border of Estandria, who had previously agreed to host Armistice assets during the relief effort. Armistice peacekeeping forces have been deployed along with the aid deliveries to ensure the security of the civilians and the proper distribution of the emergency supplies. The nearby San Miguel hospital has taken in civilians as a shelter during the ongoing peacekeeping efforts and general attempts to prevent cartel meddling and gang violence during the mission.

Cartel gangs threaten to interfere with the humanitarian mission in order to continue their exploitation of the critical situation in Gran Tesca and recruit the local youths. Armistice joint chiefs of TITAN (Tactical Intelligence and Target Analysis Network) have promised no compromise with criminal organisations and have vowed to stand firmly on their intentions to install a genuine stable democracy in the Republic.

Political activist Valentín Bassano of the PCN (National Conference Party) has endorsed Armistice peacekeeping efforts, and is currently campaigning on a platform of salvation for Gran Tesca, detailing his intentions to stabilise the nation’s economy and crack down on organised crime and drug trafficking.

Hail the Confederation!

Prologue January 2021- March 2024:

It had only been a month since Peras overthrew the prince in a violent coup. The air in Sissania was still unclear, no one knew who was in charge, panic was ary. However, everything was made clear when Peras waged war on corporations. His para-military, whom he called the peacekeepers, burst through the doors of numerous factories across the former-principality. The scummy owners who had taken advantage of their employees, exploiting their work ethic for cheap labor and long hours, were chased out of their own factories and shot in the street. The bodies were hung up for days on end. Soon, leaders of the former police force were hung out to dry too, and the landlords followed suit. Peras soon stepped up on the same scaffold the former prince was hung on, and issued a speech.

“I have rid Sissania of the forces that plagued, and corrupted it. Rejoice with the power in your hands…. get paid fairly based on the quality of your work and not by the wage the rich chose for you to stay in power! You are Sissanians, not wage slaves at the will of the elite! Seize your own lives, seize your own production!”

Not long after the speech the bodies of billionaire CEO’s were hung up as well, the most notable among them was the CEO of Sitec notorious for his questionable moral stance on his workers, and his strange behavior around children. He was the outlier, his body was charred by the peacekeepers and thrown out in the mud before being hung.

Peras didn’t stop there however, expanding his influence he had his peacekeeper forces locate and execute any gang members, or cartel goons that had spilled over from neighboring countries. He had effectively safened Sissania 100x over, eliminating anyone who had any ties with the Estredena he considered “A dirty jungle full of monkeys with guns.” Because of his efforts, Sissania was only just behind the ‘blanchichos’ on the other side of the continent in terms of safety. He wasn’t satisfied however, and so his peacekeepers executed anyone suspected of violent crime, making the country even more safe than before, but still not as safe as Estandria. He wanted to step them up in one thing though. He gave numerous speeches, rallying the people of Sissania into conscription. He used the new government’s money to purchase weapons off of Salcaencian, including nuclear warheads which he loved to use as a show of power in numerous military parades in the capital. And with his new military, he even scared the most religious Kajzserlist to convert to his own religion, ridding Sissania of the alcoholic grip a foreign brand even dared to have over it.

Since landlords were gone, the government took control of all housing and sold it to the people, and distributed unused housing among the less fortunate, giving them job opportunities in an effort to improve their lives. Unsurprisingly, he was rather popular among the Sissanians. He embodied something the Prince had failed to show, consideration for the less fortunate. Of course he didn't want his regime to seem bad in the eyes of foreign countries, and so he had an ‘election’ to convince the international community that Sissanians liked this Sissania, although even if they didn't (which most did) there was only one name on the ballot anywayst.. And now, after the election, he had gotten to work forming unions for workers across the country, with the help of his new ‘right hand man’ Pietra who dealt with most of it. However, although Peras was a great leader in various fashions, she had noticed he began to grow rather paranoid, paranoid of foreign forces in Estredena.

Present Day- 28/3/2024:

Peras seemed oddly calm unlike his usual demeanor. Pietra knew why she was called in his office, which made his calm demeanor all the more suspicious, so calm it put her on edge. For she felt she was walking on eggshells and cracking them would make him snap. She sat down in a rolling chair that lay in front of his desk, she remembered the fun she had as a kid spinning around in these, and that calmed her never a little.

“Good morning Ms…” He read off her name tag as he had forgotten her name once again, he wasn’t good with names. “Dominiga.’

“Good morning Mr Peras, I assume I am here about the..well you know,” She said.

“Know what? About the traitorous Estandrians? Salcanceans stepping f-” He calms himself down. “No actually, you are not here for that.”

“Really? I'd think you'd have much to say on the topic.” She questioned.

“I have many words I would love to say, but they'd all be wasted on you,” He snarls, offending Pietra as if she was some sort of dumbass who couldn't understand his ‘perfect utopia’. She understood him quite well, from his paranoid rants to his racist remarks of Solmarans and Estredenans who were not of Sissania, ironic for a communist leader. “No, I want to talk with you about an opportunity, just for you.”

“Opportunity?”

“Yes, opportunity. Well…not oppurtunity more guarantee. You will be sent on an aid mission in Gran Tesca.” Peras’ works were empty, and Pietra knew why. “You and some ‘humanitarian workers' will pass out food to locals.”

“I'm not stepping foot anywhere near those Tescans!” She yelled, knowing what Peras entailed.

“I just said it's a guarantee, not an option woman.” It was only a moment after Peras said these words he had found himself with a red mark stricken across his cheek. He made no move on Pietra, unlike his response to the central bank manager. No, his response was much more calm, simply pressing a button and calling for his ‘peacekeepers’. And soon Pietra was taken away, for like Wárne, she was doomed from the moment she had been appointed in her position.

Armistice Forces Aid Gran Tesca

Earlier today, Armistice humanitarian operations began humanitarian efforts in the impoverished nation of Gran Tesca. The small country has recently collapsed into chaos following the resignation of President Montilla, sudden economic downturn, and a major breakout from the nation's most notorious prison, San Eladio. Violent gangs and cartels have seized control of the streets, overpowering the outgunned and undermanned police forces. It is Armistice's noble goal to liberate Gran Tesca from the grips of organized crime. Humanitarian operations have seen Armistice forces provide food and supplies to the needy, defending them from the cartels who torment them night and day. The National Conference Party, Gran Tesca's largest political organization, has announced its public support for Armistice operations within Tescan borders. This has seen the party's popularity swell immensely. Armistice has promised to turn Gran Tesca into a fully-fledged Guided Democracy adhering to Corpalan, Daulmārkian, and Estandrian ideals of freedom and liberty. A coalition of cartels, led by the West Usies Federation, has attempted to force Armistice to back down from Gran Tesca so that they may force their own will upon the country, but Armistice representatives have made it overwhelmingly clear that Armistice goals will be met.

Armistice Thanks Sissania

Amidst Armistice's own operations, the government of Grand Principality of Sissania has announced that it will begin supplying food to those in need, while promising not to interfere with Armistice activities. The Sissanian government participates in a noble cause, while refusing to collaborate with criminal organizations such as the Antonio Cartel and the regional coalition.

FORCE Finally Authorised Against Global Terrorism - No Thanks to Several!

The FORCE Act, a revolutionary global anti-terrorism bill proposed by the Daulmārkian delegation to the General Assembly of the Avaris Accords was passed on the 24th of this month with a majority of 8 in favour. The bill, which permits greater liberties for governments to properly oppose and monitor potential terrorist threats was popularly backed by representatives, many of whom included heartfelt sympathies towards their own struggles with terrorist networks and attacks threatening their people. The legislation was first written up by Daulmārk shortly after their own tragic event which claimed the lives of 127, and another 300+ critically injured.

But not all delegates were in favour of this lifesaving bill, however, as all five of the attending individuals associated with the colonial paragon New England INC abstained against the bill, including both the South Usean Raj and West Usies despite their proximities to violent extremists of many forms. Political analysts from the Open Society Foundation have determined the likelihood that these individual votes were instructed by the delegation from New England as a makeshift voting bloc. Should these nations’ personal sacrifice to appease an occupying power be permitted within the General Assembly?

Interference Imperils Peace: Armistice Diplomats Wonder if Saboteurs Took Wrong Turn at SUSU

The League of Prosperous Nations continues with its intentions to meddle in the complex peacekeeping efforts of Armistice in Gran Tesca. A project spearheaded by New England INC has formed an unlikely coalition of various criminal organisations and drug cartels to disrupt humanitarian aid operations and restore anarchy to the already bloodstained Tescan streets. These efforts to oust peacekeeping forces have only amplified since the mass breakout at San Eladio prison, formerly hosting over 10,000 violent felons who now roam the streets preying on the ill and starving civilians. Armistice have vowed no compromise with foreign interference or gangs, and any attempts to disrupt humanitarian operations will be met with appropriate resistance. Armistice is entering its second day of delivering food and medicine to communities, and now even other Estredenan nations such as Estandria and the Grand Principality of Sissania are sending supplies to the border to be collected and distributed by peacekeepers, which are received with deep gratitude for their effective cooperation.

The Expedition into the Great Dairn Abyss (Part 2)

Written by 1st Captain Antonio Carpaz
Armin, the Hyperius-class submarine, tossed in the powerful sea. 200 meters long and 50,000 tons, Armin was a large ship but the current proved stronger. The submarine slowly descended into the depths, the color of the water pitch black due to the storm brewing above. The crew were terrified, most of them were young, having graduated from the Naval Institute only a week ago. They were chosen to take part in the expedition to train them, though most of them weren’t holding up. The helmsmen were gripping the controlboards and refused to let go.
1000 meters down had…terrifying sights. Strange undersea plants glowing green and red billowed like smoke around Armin. The fish were large, with huge snapping jaws and teeth larger than a man’s hand. The navigation systems had spotted a blip on the 3400th meter down. Armin descended even further into the depths.
At 3400 meters was the most horrifying sight. A colony of serpents, each 90 feet long and probably several hundred kilograms in weight with dark green scales swarmed, their tails slamming against Armin’s hull. Their faces were grotesque with numerous rows of sharp teeth. Their eyes were white, pure white with no black.
Under my orders, the submarine sped off, leaving the serpents and descending into the lower regions of the abyss. Little that we knew that more horrors awaited us down there, each scarier than the last.

NEIBC Reporting Live, West Usies, Avaris.

"Kekan Smithers reporting live in sunny West Usies on Avaris, keeping YOU updated on the last developments of the latest excitement in Gran Tesca. After what seemed to be mere posturing from the dubbed 'region-led coalition' have now been seen spurring into action after a flurry of reports that the Armistice coalition making its first landings on Gran Tesca earlier on today. West Usies forces and forces from the various Estredenean backing nations have arrived here today to catch one of the many ships heading to Inutore. For the viewers back at home I would place your bets now before its too late since it seems like the fight is in-fact ON who will be the victorious coalition? Armistice or the Regionals? Find out here at NEIBC as we continue to provide live coverage of the action as we go along. Great apologies to those that lost this week's bet on whenever or not there would be an intervention into Gran Tesca." the young reporter visibly relaxes as the Cameraman signals the cut, the two quietly chatted to themselves for a while before sniffing out a high ranking official walking nearby and giving chase.

Meanwhile, two individuals stood above the ongoing operation both had their own airs of grace between the two of them, one was more on the aristocratic side and the other more administrative.

"Listen Brogad, these Genna are propa Ben about shipping out short notice Zeen? Especially if they gonna get all Mash up in that dead country up North Mon." spoke out Governor Abisai Badrick as he gestured towards the rather grumpy looking West Usies troops who were waiting for the next boat to come into dock. Governor Badrick was a dark skinned man who wore a black suit with a red shirt, but what made him truly eye catching was his magnificent dreadlocks and square-rimmed sunglasses which added to his large character. Unlike some governors Badrick was a rare mix of loud but efficient, which gave him the much needed charismatic air to shut down anyone's crooked ambitions in the Usies.

"I understand that this is short notice Governor but even those out in snowy Artkos knew something like this would be inevitable. Plus, you and I both know that having more experienced security forces with real combat experience are ten times more likely to hold off against any cartel riff raff plaguing the area. I know you like to play hardball old sport but you will be rewarded in the long run, if things go well you will have a seat at the Board of Governors in no time. You can finally ditch those square things for something a little round ey?" replied the man next to the Governor, Lord Rupert McFall of Darsy who was placed in-charge of the ongoing operation. He was a pasty lanky man whom stood out like a sore thumb with his royal uniform amongst the men, that was made especially apparent when his photo was taken alongside hardened Estredenean cartel members.

"They either work for us or join a gang so far we are the more appealing option." a third voice spoke up out of nowhere causing an involuntary shiver from Lord McFall as he realises who it was. Edwin Darkwood the international spook for the English government, he already had a quiet and nasty reputation outside of Avaris but he soon made sure to reinforce his infamy in both the Arellistan and Ridnezite campaigns. Showing up seemingly out of nowhere he managed to just about produce a thin smile out of his pale scarred visage as he leant on the railing angling himself towards the two.

"Darkwood, I thought they had a scaly Paadie like you doing some real shell dun mash up in Ridnez zeen? Weh yuh deh pon?" Abisai crossed his arms and raised a brow at Darkwood who briefly had a look of complete stupor at the man's words.

"He is like a shark Badrick, smells blood and suffering and all of sudden he is here to grace us with his presence." McFall smirked to himself at his own quip as Darkwood straightened back up once again, taking one step forwards with McFall resisting the urge not to take a step back as he did so.

"Parliament must sure like you to send you all the way out here, shaking hands with chichos and throwing up gang signs." Edwin shot back with a brief sneer appearing on his cold face before he composed himself once again. "The Zendies are all but squashed, I entrust my men to be competent enough to clean up any entrails. I've been assigned here to ensure that these gang bangers behave themselves as well as making sure we don't have any pasty faced Eshans being used in the 'intervention' efforts. Discipline must be enforced among the ranks, I don't care if you're a street rat or Tony Montana himself you will be flogged in-front of everyone if you try to illegally steal Crown equipment outside of Gran Tesca."

"Who is Tony Montana? Blabba Mout." The Governor shook his head.

"Forget it, that is besides the point, I'm also here to tell you that you have 2400 hours to move all your crap to Inutore and into Gran Tesca before I put you both on the frontline. You are already behind schedule and those Xaviets and its inbred offspawn are already pigging out in that chicho dirt hole. If you can achieve that we may all be happy but more importantly I'll be kept happy. Hopefully I won't be seeing you two any time soon." Edwin flashed them a sharp smile and gave them a two fingered salute before sauntering off.

Nothing like special operations motivation to truly motivate standard operations.

Oh, thank the Sun Lion, its gone. Anyways, something weird has been going on. Our files documenting the subjects we have here are getting corrupted by creepy messages. We don't know what the messages are from. They aren't trackable to a single source like the rest of our documentation is. Its almost as if its coming from something outside the facility, but NO ONE, I mean NO ONE outside the facility has access to our files! So, I hoping my manager gets this tape when I'm done recording it...or before I die in this cage.

The Expedition into the Great Dairn Abyss (Part 4)

Recorded report by 3rd Lieutenant Engineer Andrei Regelio
I had only graduated from the Naval Institute a week ago and the Imperial Navy has immediately ordered me to go along with this mission. Now, as I stand here on the deck of KMS Wavelength, I see nothing but black. Pitch black clouds, waves, even the hull of the ship looked dark. Every now and then, I feel a strange rumbling that seemed to resonate from the depths. The navigation crew is in full motion now due to the sun having set and the artificial intelligence navigation systems constantly switching on and off. I looked out into the dim horizon. The air was freezing and I pulled my greatcoat around me tighter. The combat suits weren’t issued, due to our mission being only “civilian expedition” which were not our words but the High Command’s.
Suddenly I see something long drift in the dark waters, 400 meters away from our ship. I snatched my binoculars to get a better look. The thing looked reptilian, with scales and spikes. I was mesmerized by the view and it took me a few seconds to radio the bridge. As I spoke into my radio, I noticed that there was another bulge in the water and it seemed to have the same characteristics of the reptilian thing I saw earlier. I called again, but suddenly more and more bulges appeared. What are those things, I did not know but it seemed that there are much reptilian things. But suddenly, I had the realization that those bulges…they weren’t multiple reptilian things but one. They were all connected and the sea seemed to boil with them. The ship was slowly getting encircled. With terror, I radioed the bridge and ran inside the control towers.

Serving Some Hope; The Food Aid Frontlines

As Armistice enters its third day of humanitarian missions inside Gran Tesca, companies operating from member-states are increasingly enthusiastic to get involved and participate with the relief efforts. Charity organisation “Mercy Trust”, originating in Daulmārk, has dispatched its workforce into Gran Tesca for the purpose of preparing and distributing food sent to the nation by Armistice operations. So far, upwards of 6,000 volunteers are planned to begin working by the end of next week.

Mercy Trust is a charity foundation created by Arelli-origin Yasser Ali, who was forced to emigrate due to League occupation in his home country. Ali started his foundation to distribute food packages and hot meals to those in need, most often low income families, elderly people with a low pension, young adults, etc. The association also helps people to find housing and supports other projects. This non-profit association has the “recognised as being of public interest” status which exempts it from specific taxes in Daulmārk.
