The Dogetopians advise them to back several factions at once and play them off of one another so that they don’t get powerful enough to challenge Edmundia later.

BREAKING - CORONAVIRUS OUTBREAK

The Voterian Provisional Military Administration has followed the lead of Libertian Edmundia and barred all travel in and out of the country. Imperial Army General Eastmoreland, Chief of the VPMA, has stated that the Voterian state is currently incapable of dealing with a wide-spread pandemic, and that a travel ban would ensure the protection of the Voterian people.

In other news, the Imperial Armed Forces have expressed concerns after fighting has broken out between factions in post-apocalyptic Yikestopia. Fraternity of Iron warplanes have launched air strikes against New Yikelavia Republic forces in western Yikestopia. The IAF has urged calm, stating that conflict will only exacerbate the current crisis in Yikestopia. However, nobody seems to have listened...

The Edmundians are too morally high-minded to do this, and instead give material support to the New Yikelavia Reoublic. After all, supporting one faction would surely make that faction indebted to the benefactor...

BREAKING - CORONAVIRUS OUTBREAK

A man has been killed attempting to escape quarantine in Sable Ferret City. At approximately 12:30 in the morning, the suspect left his house and fled in a white sedan. A Sable Ferret Police Department Officer ran a plate check on the car and gave chase once it was clear that the vehicle occupant was supposed to be in quarantine. 4 local units joined the chase, which took the police across the city. Eventually, the SFPD managed to immobilise the suspect with spike-strip support. However, as the suspect impacted the spikes, his car spun out of control and smashed into an electricity pole, causing a power outage in the area. The suspect died at the scene, and as we know power authorities are still working to restore power in the region. Police are still investigating.

BREAKING - CORONAVIRUS OUTBREAK

The Liki Islands Federal Government has instituted a full ban on international arrivals, including Liki citizens, in order to curb the spread of the virus. There are now 55 cases of Covid-19 in the Islands, a majority of them coming from either international tourists or workers that have been exposed to tourists.

The Liki Federal Reserve has also today injected a 50 billion Royal stimulus package into the Islander economy to support the tourism industry, which has taken a massive hit as a result of the pandemic.

So, how are all our nations going? Great Edmundia is still unsuccessfully trying to fight Covid-19

Osajia's infection has peaked. We capped at 1,640,000 cases, with over 200,000 deaths. Fortunately, as stated previously, we have peaked. As of yestersay, Osajia reached a milestone of only 100,000 active cases.

As for the politics of the nation, Sultan bin Akbar has revolutionized the nation in a few short weeks. He renamed the position of Sultan to President, and scheduled the next Osajian election for President on September 2, 2020. After the next election, they are to be regularized annually, with a two week election cycle, and a five term limit.

The Imperial Government congratulates President Akbar on his successful efforts to democratise his country. The King appeared via video conference to personally commend the Osajian head of state.

Sable Ferret City's hospital system has all but collapsed, and doctors are now having to make heart-wrenching decisions over who receives treatment. The Imperial Army Medical Corps has established 5 field hospitals in carparks and convention centres across the city. Richard I International Airport, the main international airport in the city, has been converted into the nation's newest Air Force Base, AFB Richard, by the Imperial Air Force. The IAF will use AFB Richard to fly in vital medical supplies such as ventilators, medical gowns, hazmat suits and face masks.

Meanwhile, some towns near Sable Ferret City have taken it upon themselves to stop the spread of infection. Sable Ferret County Sheriff Department officers, on the request of local council authorities, closed the road connecting the semi-rural township of Sable Hollows with Interstate Highway 1, to prevent any residents from the city from driving in.

ATTENTION ALL NATIONS

The elections for W.A. Secretary-General have begun. This is essentially a vote on the future of the most important international organisation in the NSVerse. I think we need everybody here to make a unified decision as to who we will vote for. I call on our Prime Minister, Bladias, to perhaps put this to a vote or something.

I've been having a telegram correspondence with him, and he's really busy at the moment. He's a doctor in Washington State, one of the worst hit States in the U.S. As such, he will not be on for the foreseeable future.

I see. Well, I wish best of luck to him at the moment

As the Covid-19 outbreak intensifies in Great Edmundia, reporters armed with cameras and microphones attached to 2-metre-long poles have taken to the streets to gauge public opinion on the matter

"O mēa! This has been a total calamitas! I have been out of labores for three weeks now since the civil courts closed due to social distancing, and we're struggling to pay the rent. May the Dea help us!"
-Quintus Scintillus, Cicerian immigrant and civil lawyer

"Ah, haha, well, I can tell you, our sales are booming! Since this outbreak started, people have been stripping our shelves bare. It's a win for us!"
-Rupert Woolworth, owner of Rupert's Grocer Shop in suburban Gladesopolis

"I've been in the restaurant business for 25 years, and I never thought I'd find myself unemployed. Oh well..."
-Grayson Jersey, restaurant owner

"It was those damn Osajians! You know, I knew they were up to something. They've probably released the virus to cripple the Empire, if you ask me. We should invade before they cause any more trouble."
-Johnny Tyrone, Imperial Army veteran of the Third Dynasty War

"It's been so cool! We've been on holidays since...forever! No more stupid school! By the way, what's your Roadblocks name? Can I friend you? Can you give me Roadbucks?"
-Jordan Peters, student at West Gladesopolis Public School

"What do I think about Covid-19? Goodness help us. It's been absolutely crazy. I've been working 12-hour shifts getting in patients to the hospital. Oh well, anything for the nation, right?"
Colleen Robbins, paramedic with the Sable Ferret City Ambulance Service

"This has been a nightmare. I just came for a short holiday. Now I'm stuck! My home government won't send any flights to bring us home, and the airport is closed anyways. I can't even hold any house parties to pass the time! It's been so much that I still feel stressed, no matter how much vodka I drink or how many packs I smoke..."

Breaking News

This evening there is breaking news from the region of Invicta, where civil war has enveloped the former nation of Nova Yugomerika (NY). The overall collapse of the region has continued unabated since the resolution of the Invictan-Edmundian War. The region has become a black hole of news, and there hasn't been virtually any activity in the last 53 days. NY has subsequently left Invicta, as the threat of civil war threatens to destroy the nation. This has left the Invictan League with only three nations, all incredibly inactive. It is unknown how Covid-19 has affected the region.

Speaking of Covid-19, while Osajia, under the guidance of President bin Akbar, passed its peak several weeks ago, the rest of the region is still in the midst of the crisis. However, there is good news. Of Altonianic Islands, the largest nation by both population and GDP, has passed the peak of the crisis. At this point in time, they have about 10 million cases, but as of today recoveries from the disease have surpassed new infections. Depressea obviously got over their epidemic via, ahem, alternative means. There is also good news coming out of Lava Guava. If the numbers retain their trend, then Lava Guava is officially over their peak. It is important to note, however, that all nations must remain vigilant, lest they be forced to deal with a second wave of cases.

Of altonianic islands and Great Edmundia

I know it's late, but the election cycle has officially begun. Due to irl concerns (I'm a doctor fighting Covid), I unfortunately cannot run for a second term. As such, I am going to set the election between Depressea and Of Altonianic Islands.

Great Edmundia and Osajia

As for the Covid-19 infection in Bladias, cases have passed the 10,000 mark, and show no signs of stopping. Already there have been over 2,000 deaths, and it is believed that the virus has mutated into a different, far more deadly strain in the nation. Samples of the virus from Of Altonianic Islands have been compared to the Bladias strain, and while they are definitely both the "same" disease, they are different enough to require an entirely separate vaccine. The death rate is estimated at 23%.

The Empire has not been oblivious to the situation in Invicta. Imperial troops have been deployed to Libertian edmundia to bolster the nation's defence.

Meanwhile, the rates of infection in Great Edmundia have tapered off, due in part to the strict isolation measures imposed by local and federal authorities.

The first case of this new, mutated form of Covid-19 in Great Edmundia has been detected on a government-organised Air Edmundia repatriation flight from Bladias that arrived in Gladesopolis International Airport this morning. All passengers and crew on that flight have already been isolated in hospital by the authorities, and the Gladesopolis Ambulance Service has moved to reassure the public that there is no risk to the wider community.
