Yes. I'd make a hierarchy inside my church to allow for complicated politics, espionage, intrigue, and corruption. Basically a playground for corruption. The higher you rise, the more powers they get (which last as long as they hold their position). Powers would be basic flight, telekinesis, being able to change your appearance, invisibility, etc. The church would have no power over the government and laws, and just give cool powers and authority over lower church members.

The church would allow for actual interesting news articles because world peace in a utopia won't allow for very entertaining news.

Think of a kind of creature (ex: amoeba)
Think of a way to kill people (ex: drowning in a acidic solution)
Then think of a way a creature could use that to kill (ex: An amoeba like creature having a membrane forming a bubble around an acidic solution, creatures get absorbed into the solution and dissolved for nutrients)
Then think of a way to make it harder to kill (ex: membrane reforms to allow easy passage for solids through, so bullets harmlessly enter and get dissolved, membrane is an insulator to protect from heat and cold)
Then give it special abilities (Like using heat (not sight) to find victims)

That's a simplified version, if you ever need deadly creatures to fill a fantasy world, ask me

Also I usually add a way for reproduction (ex: something similar to mitosis for the amoeba like creature)
