“You tried some hard, Jade.”
I gasp, and my eyes fly open.
Then they harden with a state of hate.
“You tired, you certainly did. I give you credit for that.” Hayden takes the wine glass off the table in the middle of the room. The red wine sloshes around, before he raises his glass to me and taking a sip.
“How long have you kept me asleep.....?”
He chuckles. “Seto’s certainly worried why you haven’t woken up in over 48 hours.”
I try to act furious and tough, but I just can’t.
I’m absolutely terrified.
Hayden sips his wine, though as he swallows, he makes a face and points at me. “I admire your commitment, Jade. The moment you knew your fate, you stopped at nothing to prevent it.”
“Not for my own sake.”
“I’m well aware of that.” He holds the glass from the bottom of the rod. “But I still admire the fact that you’re still going through with this.”
“I’m not doing this for you. Or me. Only for people I love. No matter what you and Xipporah do to me, I’m still going to despise you.”
Hayden smiles while looking at his red wine. “You’ll see, Thirteen....”
“Don’t. Call me. That.” I hiss through my teeth.
He chuckles. “You’re funny when you’re mad.”
I ball my fists, and the static around me increases.
But then it hurts.
Cause it’s becoming a part of me.
And it feels my internal pain.
It fades, and I feel the urge to collapse on the floor.
Hayden sighs, setting his wine glass on the table again.
“Try what you want, but you won’t escape it. I warned you the consequences of trying to save your loved ones. Yet, you refused to listen.”
“Why wont you just kill me........”
I look up, with tears pricking at the corner of my eyes.
“Why wont you let me kill myself and prevent all of this....? No matter what, I cause damage to people I love, innocents, and myself. Why not let me die.”
Hayden take a few steps forward, and directs my chin to look at him.
He scoffs through his nose as a laugh.
“Where’s the fun in that?”
The tear pours out of my right eye. “Please........you can help me.......Xipporah can heal me......don’t make me do this.......please Hayden......”
He strokes my head, sending a chill down my spine.
“I’m afraid not, Jade.”
Sobs bubble up in my throat, and I look down at the ground.
He did warn me.
Trying to control what would cause death, would severely weaken my emotional defense.
And he wasn’t kidding.
“Please Hayden........I beg you......don’t make me.......”
Hayden shoves me away, but from my nausea, I stumble back, then crumble to my knees.
“Please Hayden!!” I’m sobbing now. “Don’t make me do this!!! PLEASE!! IF YOU HAVE ANY MERCY, PLEASE!!”
“When you wake up, it’ll be around eleven in the morning.”
“PLEASE!!!”
“I’m giving you the rest of the day. Do what you wish. But you won’t escape your fate.”
“NOOOOOOOO!!!” My sobs become louder, more desperate, echoing.
“You don’t get to tell Ryuu you’re leaving until you’re gone. Leave a note if you wish, but speak nothing of the truth.”
“PLEASE HAYDEN!! PLEASE NO!!!!!”
“I’ll send a ship full of my men. It’ll be around the corner, and lands right before midnight. If you don’t get on it, they’ll find you and make you.”
I can’t even form words anymore. My terror has filled me to the brim, and I stare at the ground as I sob.
“After then, we begin. There’s nothing you can do about it Jade. Accept it.”
I crumble to my side, no longer trying to stay any amount of strong.
“Enjoy the last day, Jade.”
I hear Hayden walk off, but continue to sob.
He was right.
Taking the risk to try and stop my doom, only causes me nothing my misery.
Sure, I may be powerful with my ability.
But on the inside?
I have nothing left.
I scream at the top of my lunges.

And I wake up, still screaming
