The Empress was killed in a banzai charge in her palace. The Premier was killed in a kamikaze attack when inspecting an air field. Both assassins died too, the first one was shot by bodyguards, the other succumbed in the crash as well.

No one really knows who's in charge now. The Shadow Corps and the Holy Red Army are the two mayor players, with the Japanese Army Faction supporting the military.

Also, the Guerilla Gorillas have escaped and are causing havoc on the countryside, both against Barapam's enemies and civilians.
