Skaraborg is a country located between the two seas Vänern and Vättern. Skaraborg borders to Älvsborg in the South and west, Jönköping in the South and Närke and Värmland in the north.
Skaraborg is divided into 17 major regions. The regions are all named after the biggest city ( a part from the region of Essunga which biggest city is Nossebro) in the region. The biggest city is Skövde and the biggest region Falköping. The western regions are plains known as the Skaraborg Plains. Those areas are used for farming; a huge part of the Sksraborgian economy. The Eastern regions are filled with forests and a lot of wildlife. List of the 17 regions by population. This information gives you their location and how their landscape looks like:

Skövde is the region where most people live. A 1/6 of the population lives here. Approximately 5.6 million. The region has one big mountain called Billingen which is 1 216 meters above sea level making it one of the biggest mountains in Skaraborg. There are a couple of towns in the region, the biggest one being Skövde. Skövde is the capital of Skaraborg until the 1st of January 2021, when Mariestad will take over. However both the judiciary and the government will stay in Skövde making Skövde similar to Den Hague in The Netherlands. Skövde is located on the southwestern part of the region next to Billingen. The second largest town Skultorp is located south of Skövde on the southern border of the region. The island have one airport: Skövde Airport. It operates international flights and regional flights to the Falköping, Lidköping and Karlsborg region. The northern parts of Skövde island is covered in woods. The southern and eastern parts being more used for farming. The western part is dominated by Billingen and a range of different animals especially birds (most of them being cranes) live near the mountain making it a popular tourist attraction. Läckö Castle is a castle on an island in the northern parts of the region called Kållandsö, the second largest island in Skaraborg. Läckö is one of the oldest castles in the world and the summer resident of the monarch.
Hindens reef is a small little stretch of land which heads into the sea. It’s about 50 km long and never wider than 1 km making it a popular hiking trek for many people. Stony beaches also make this place popular for swimming especially with lots of small islands surrounding it. There are three airports in the region. Two of them being military and the third one being an international airport. There is only one port and that is the Lidköping port. Lidköping is the mouth of river Lidan which flows through the city before ending in Vänern. It’s The second largest river in Skaraborg. Falköping is the largest region and the third most populated region in the country. The region contains most plains and farming areas (except for the central areas of the region where two big mountains are located and the landscape is more hilly) making it a popular place for cranes. They like breeding there. It’s so popular that the largest population of cranes live here. Hornborgasjön is the world’s biggest Crane Reservoir and a lake at the border of the Skara region. It is very popular by both tourists and cranes. In 2019 2.7 million cranes visited the lake. A very impressive world record. It is not only cranes who visit the lake. Lots of tourists visit the lake every year. The region is very important for Skaraborgian culture since it’s the home for many different studios and workshops and The International Museum of the Stone Age lies here. Why? Many relics have been found on the island making it a popular place for archaeologists. It’s also famous for its cheese and the two biggest mountains in Skaraborg lies on the island:
Mösseberg, 1 296 meters above sea level and Ålleberg 1 340 meters above sea level.

The biggest town Falköping lies in the middle of the region and the region has one international airport. It’s called Falköping Crane Airport. Mösseberg is a very luxurious place with many good hotels and spas. Since Skaraborg lives on tourism and Agriculture the island of Falkoping plays a vital role in the skaraborgian economy. This is actually the second most important region when it comes to industries. Only Skövde is more important. The city of Kinnarp is a very important city because it’s home of a company making a lot of furniture which provides a lot of money for the economy.

Mariestad is the fourth most populated island with just less than half a million inhabitants. Mariestad is a very industrial island with lots of industrial areas. Falkoping is though the most important industrial island. Mariestad is third behind Skovde. Here’s where the nation’s timber gets made into paper and most of the exports and imports are shipped into the port of Mariestad. There are also lots of other factories who creates other necessary things but also needless things. Mariestad have a lot of wood on the island making it why the government moved a lot of the timber industry to Mariestad from Gullspang. Though the paper fabric in Gullspang is still going and creates more paper than Mariestad the wood which comes to the fabrics in Mariestad can be turned into other stuff.
The Mariestad Island’s nature isn’t much to see. It’s a lot of wood but some areas have been made into farming land. Its beaches Ekudden and Snapen are though the most popular beaches in Skaraborg and the harbour in Mariestad is very beautiful with small huts where you can buy ice cream or souvenirs. And the fact that the island is one of the islands which are split in two parts because of the channel Gota Channel, connecting The Kattegat ocean and The Baltic Ocean makes it a popular tourist destination and many tourists dock on the island which makes it another popular island for tourism. The channel starts at the northern parts of Mariestad in a town called Sjotorp and goes through the northern parts of the island ending in Lyrestad until starting off again in Toreboda and then Karlsborg. People from Mariestad are considered extremely friendly and is a popular for the other islanders in Skaraborg. Towns on the island of Mariestad in order after population:

The second capital of Skaraborg is Skara being home for the monarch and the Church Of Skaraborg. The bishop of Skaraborg lives here aswell. Just like Falkoping relics have been found in a Varnhem. Kata Farm is the name of an archeological site where remains of a woman named Kata has been found together with some items from the Stone Age. Skara is also popular for the two churches Skara Cathedral and Varnhem Church. Varnhem Church is the home of the first king of Sweden Birger Jarl. He is buried in the church. Skara Cathedral is the biggest church in Skaraborg and home for the Church Of Skaraborg. The areas on the island are mostly forests and farming land just like the other islands. Skara Summerland is the most popular tourist destination after The Gota Channel. It’s an amusement park with lots of different rides and activities, many of them having something to do with water so don’t forget to bring your swimming equipment. 👍
The town of Skara is located on the centre of the island with its main ports being Varnhem and Eggby. Both of them are located on the eastern side of the island making ferries from Vara and other islands west of Skara having to travel a long way. The only way to travel to Skara is by boat. The town of Axvall is famous for its horse racing. The Skaraborgian Grand Prix is held on the horse tracks in Axvall. Towns on the island of Skara by population:
