I have something quite shameful to admit to Jabberwocky... I have heard of zero of these authors...

Neither have I. That seems reasonable enough.

Same. I knew a lot of the authors of the first poll, I actually read most of them, but the ones of this poll I didn't have any idea they ever existed.

Sigmund Freud is trash. All respects for his significant work in the field of psychology, but I honestly do not agree with most of his work

So guys, I am reading Les Miserables by Victor Hugo and I'd love to know what y'alls opinions are on it. I personally love it, though I do think that Hugo gets a little off track too easily.

I also quite enjoyed it. I only read the book and never got to see a play but I do love the character development, love how it shows the struggles for human rights, and how it shines light on class conflicts. It holds a special place in my heart. It had flaws which I disliked but it was a good book
Edit:don’t double post also, think it’s a easy mistake which I fell into once but try not to

Ah, cool. I also love it because I happen to love that particular time's culture and I love the way he paints portraits with his words (which he does a lot especially with Javert scenes). I discovered it through the musical, which I also really love, but I think the book is better because there is so much that the musical couldn't fit it that is just so beautiful.
Also, sorry my apologies for earlier, will try and do better in the future.

I was going to congratulate you all in getting 56 messages in less than an hour, but then I read the RMB. Thoughts on my new flag?

I also love Le Mis! I think the book shows the progression of Cossette's story a lot more poignantly and I also agree the book holds so much more that the musical can't.

Cosette has such a nice story, and I also love the story of Eponine and I wish that in the musical we could have seen more out of the Patron-Minette.

We have rules in our region, one of them being no raiders allowed. The people we suppressed were raiders here to troll our region, and shouldn't be allowed to do such a thing without punishment in some form.
