It's alright, take your time

Democratic country of the west pacific wrote:so what i got from the latest report is that 6 people have been unoffical confirmed dead and biden promised that the US would support the reconstruction of the bridge

Because that bridge was an amazingly important link in the infrastructure of the east coast. Specifically built to facilitate the transportation of hazardous materials because the tunnels in the area can't handle the vehicles that haul those materials. The collapse will impact the flow of goods up and down the east coast until it is rebuilt.

Sorry to hear that, hopefully you're doing better now.

This is something in the U.S. It is a very big deal right now

its worse than a big deal its a country wide dillemma

I don't know what you are even talking about... this is anything but a country wide dilemma, obviously it is a tragedy but this is almost closer to the local level of problem, it has just been extremely publicized for some reason...

It does impair transportation of goods but it is not that severe, it was a complete accident of a ship crashing into a bridge, but it is not the end of the world.

yeah tbh. its only really an problem to that city and that city alone. most here in Europe won't even feel a difference its just a bridge god damn it!

Nothing interesting is happening in the UK right now, maybe expect the phone ban bill in schools

Not even everything is going on in the Parsi community right now

I'm no expert but I'm reasonably intelligent and I've tried to keep abreast of things as much as I can and so I'll say this. There is the potential that this is more serious than you're giving it credit for. As I've already stated, the tunnels across the same body of water cannot be used for the transport of hazardous materials, so that will have a long term impact on the route (and therefore cost) of moving those materials along the east coast. Furthermore, and here I'm admittedly speculating, but if you look at a map you'll see that the bridge that collapsed basically blocks off the Baltimore harbor now. I'm not sure how much of an impact this will have on the port's capacity during the reconstruction process. There aren't detour routes for ships, to reach the port they must travel across water that that bridge once spanned.

The number of theories going around right now is pretty crazy, ranging from accident to terror attack. I think it's best to wait and see what the facts are before rushing to any judgement on the matter. Even if I do love a juicy conspiracy every now and then.

I'd personally avoid minimising any event where people have died. It's just common courtesy.

I'm not minimizing the event, I'm just not clinging to the latest TikTok theories showing explosive charges on the bridge and speculation that the ship turned intentionally until I see more information from sources that are somewhat more credible.

Yeah some of the theories are kind of insane

We'd use rotten tomatoes as hand grenades when we'd play war when I was little. No telling how many of your relatives we lobbed at one another.

Pretty nasty stuff

Carrot juice? You don't try many new things do you? :D

Nah I definitely do, but I find carrot juice the most grim over all the other juices I have tried.

That wasn't directed at you.

The crew dropped the anchor, probably to slow the ship down and almost certainly turning it some as well

The crew dropped the port anchor (left side), the ship turned right. Wasn't a result of the anchor drop.

My mother tells me I cried watching Bambi when I was 3 or 4 and I may or may not have been a bit teary-eyed at the end of Rudy.
