Stonewall First News - Breaking News - Aelian Stornkold Secedes from the Stonewall Federation!

In a statement today, the Aelian territory in Stornkold belonging to The stonewall federation declared independence from the federation, adopting the Federation's previous government name: Stonewall independent republic.

"This is preposterous, really," Stonewall Federation Chancellor Theodore Jackson exclaimed in an interview with Stonewall First News, "They are such a small territory, their territorial government will be unable to support itself. They will be crawling back to the Federation within a month."

Chancellor Jackson refused to recognize the territory's government as a legitimate state, instead proclaiming it to be a disputed territory. The SIR's new government released a statement, proclaiming themselves to be a constitutional republic.

"We hold no ill will towards the Stonewall Federation," newly elected President Bill Howitzer said in an interview, "We were happy to be a territory member of the government, however we believe it's time for local governance instead of governance from light years away in the Stonewall Sector. We hope to remain an ally and be recognized as a legitimate state."

The Stonewall Independent Republic ratified a constitution this afternoon, which is extremely similar to that of the Stonewall Federation. An interim Congress was established based upon county boards' recommendations from their district. Elections will be held next week for the House of Representatives and the Senate, comprising the First Congress of the Aelian Stonewall Independent Republic. Since President Howitzer was elected by the interim Congress, a presidential election will be held next week. Thus far, Howitzer is unopposed.

There has been discussion that the Stonewall Federation's territory in Muhr may very well vote to secede as well in the coming weeks. It is uncertain at this point if Muhr will form their own government or join the Aelian Stonewall Independent Republic.

"The idea has been discussed in our legislature," Governor Gerald Mcauffa said in a press statement today, "We are quite some distance from the Stonewall System, and thus would prefer a local government. However, that is for the citizenry to decide in the ballot initiative next week. The legislature will vote on a resolution tomorrow whether to secede or not. If a vote in the affirmative is had, the initiative will be scheduled and our citizens will make the final decision."

A new piece of legislation has begun circulating the Stonewall Federation's House of Representatives that will grant recognition to the Stonewall Independent Republic in Aelian Stornkold, and also permit the territory in Muhr to secede should they chose to do so. Thus far, the bill has 1,700 cosponsors of the 5,000 representatives. Although the Chancellor's office refuses to recognize the secession of either state, the Congress can override this with a 2/3 majority in both houses. Nineteen of thirty-eight senators have indicated they would support such legislation.

Stonewall First News - Breaking News - Stonewall Federation Passes Bill For Muhr's Secession; Spurs Election Woes

In a stunning move today, The stonewall federation Senate and House of Representatives both passed the Secession of Aelian and Muhrian Territory Act in a veto-proof majority, effectively granting recognition to the Stonewall independent republic. Senate Majority Leader, Danny Biar (Lee - Constitution Party), applauded the vote at a press conference following the vote.

"Our constitutional federation was founded through secession, however we had to fight a bloody civil war to achieve independence," Biar said, "We ought to remember that, and make it easier for liberty and independence in far away colonies. Although I have treasured the membership of Stonewall Muhr and Stonewall Stornkold in our federation, they are a distant colony that should have a say in their government. The Secession Act grants recognition to the Stonewall Independent Republic, and will mandate the Chancellor remove it from the Disputed Territory list of the State Departmnet. Furthermore, it grants Muhr the legal right to secede should their citizenry choose to, without any bloodshed."

Chancellor Theodore Jackson condemned the Act, citing that it will set a dangerous precedent, "The Secession Act, although targeting our Stornkold territory and Muhr territory, will set a dangerous precedent for any planetary member in our federation to walk away should they disagree with a decision made."

Jackson vowed to veto the Secession Act, however the House passed the Act 4,121 to 879 and the Senate passed the House version in a 24 to 14 vote, both more than the 2/3 majority required to override the Chancellor's veto. House Majority Leader, Ruth Ulic (23rd Cleburne - Stonewall First Party) promised to bring the response bill to the Chancellor's veto as soon as the veto goes through to ensure a peaceful transition of government in the two territories.

"It is urgent we override the certain veto from our Chancellor," Ulic urged in an address to the House after passage of the bill, "Otherwise we open the territories up to certain violence from the Chancellery's office. Senate Majority Leader Biar has assured me he has the same convictions to have an override vote as soon as possible."

In the election initiative in Stonewall Muhr yesterday, the citizenry overwhelmingly voted in favor of secession, 86% to 14%. Protesters could be seen in front of the Muhr capital protesting with signs demanding freedom from a far away government.

The division between the Chancellor's office and Congress has further widened due to this Act, although the Constitution Party and Stonewall First Party hold clear majorities in both houses and the Chancellor himself is a part of the Constitution Party. Vice Chancellor Don Flashsk, a member of the Stonewall First Party, has vowed to challenge Jackson in the general election. Ironically enough, both parties hold very similar ideologies, contrasting themselves sharply with the Federation Whigs, Republican Party, Conservative Party and the Liberal Party.

"It's certain to be a blood feud between both the Constitution Party and Stonewall First Party," Stonewall University political analyst Bob Snoose observed in a phone interview, "This could be the year both the Liberal Party and Federation Whig Party gain more seats back. The Republicans will likely hold on to their two seats in the Senate, however the Constitution Party and Stonewall First Party could lose their majority if they do not show a united front. At this rate, Chancellor Jackson could even face a primary challenger from the Constitution Party, likely Danny Biar himself."

Although the primaries for the six political parties in the Stonewall Federation do not begin until April, the Conservative and Republican Parties are unlikely to nominate a Chancellery candidate. The Conservative Party will likely back a Federation Whig candidate and the Republican Party will likely back the Liberal Party candidate as they have the past three Chancellery elections. There has not been word yet on who the Federation Whig Party will nominate.

Stonewall First News - Breaking News - Congress Overrides Chancellor's Secession Veto; No Third Term for Jackson

As expected, the The stonewall federation Congress overrode Chancellor Theodore Jackson's veto of the Secession Act, permanently identifying the Stonewall independent republic in Aels as an independent nation and granting Muhr the same right to form their own government or join the Stonewall Independent Republic. Since the citizenry in Muhr voted last week overwhelmingly to secede, there is no question whether they will leave the Stonewall Federation.

Governor Gerald Mcauffa of the Muhr territory held a press conference after the override vote, and announced the former Federation territory would indeed be joining the Stonewall Independent Republic.

"The provisional Congress of the Aelian Stonewall Independent Republic extended an offer of membership to our territory," Mcauffa stated, "And we have accepted to become a part of this new nation state. Thus the Stonewall Independent Republic will no longer be limited to Aels."

The territory's legislature and gubernatorial office will still be maintained, since Stonewall Muhr will be a member state of the S.I.R. However, a new state government will have to be formed for the Stornkold territory since most of it's state government became the Stonewall Independent Republic's government in the transition. Since the S.I.R's formation, the economy has been a struggle. Although the economy is in reasonable shape, the monetary supply should be stabilized in the coming weeks.

The Federation's Chancellor's office did not have a comment regarding the override vote, however Chancellor Jackson did hold a press conference outside the capitol in Stonewall City today. The past six months have seen a steady decline in popularity within the Federation, partly due to the handling of the secession of the territories in Muhr and Aels. Currently, Jackson's approval rating is sitting at 13% among registered voters. With those numbers, it is unlikely that Jackson could survive a general election against any candidates.

"I am holding this press conference today to announce that I will not be seeking reelection in November," Jackson stated at the conference this afternoon, "I have served the Stonewall Federation for nearly twelve years as its chancellor, and two and a half as it's provisional Chancellor. I feel it is time for me to pursue other venues and to finally retire from politics."

Prior to serving as chancellor, Jackson served as a senator in the Congress from Lee. He stated today that he would not be seeking election for his old senate seat, instead pursuing private industry venues. Shortly after the press conference, the Constitution Party announced that that Danny Biar, current Senate Majority Leader, would be the nominee for the Constitution Party. Chancellor Jackson has not backed any candidate yet, likely because his support would tarnish the polls for said candidate. His handling of the UCP Crisis and the Davis Conflict have left him extremely unpopular with many voters.

"Senator Biar has served this federation through civil war and peaceful times on the floor of the Senate," the statement from the Constitution Party read, "He knows what is involved in a constitutional government and how to deal with outside entities."

Additionally, the Liberal Party announced their nominee for the chancellery election today. Former Governor David Polenski of Semmes announced his candidacy earlier this week, with the Liberal Party endorsement finally coming through today. In a statement, Polenksi promised to restore equality and champion for civil rights throughout the Stonewall Federation. He criticized Chancellor Jackson for not taking a firmer, open minded stand on the secession of Aelian and Muhrian territories and for not pushing the wealthy pay their fair share.

Current polling indicates Don Flashsk, Stonewall First Party nominee, with a slight lead over the other two candidates. Of likely voters, 24% would vote for Flashsk if the election were today, 21% would vote for Constitution Party nominee, Danny Biar, and 19% would vote for former Governor Polenski, Liberal Party nominee. 36% of likely voters are currently undecided, thus leaving the election wide open for speculation. It is expected the Republican Party will back Polenski in the general election, and that the Federation Whig Party will back Flashsk. It is yet unknown what the Conservative Party will do, whether they back another party candidate or put forward their own.

Greetings from Admayora to all who read this~!

Stonewall First News - Breaking News - Stonewall Independent Republic Congress Approves Residence Act

Today, Stonewall independent republic Congress Approved the Residence Act, which was promptly signed by President Bill Howitzer today. The Residence Act formally approves a capital city for the Republic, allowing the government exclusive jurisdiction over a city for its operations.

"I am proud to sign this historic piece of legislation today," Howitzer stated at a press conference with both House Majority Leader Hannah Gnyr and Senate Majority Leader Samuel Brokun, "The Residence Act, supported unanimously in both houses of Congress, will give our new republic a capital city since our recent peaceful separation from The stonewall federation."

The Act specifically designated the city of HilMir as the capital, formally renaming it to Stornkold City. Although the majority of individuals seem to support this renaming and designation, those of indigenous descent dislike what appears to be one of the first official moves of the government to rid Old Norse language from the region.

Sorry man, I don't know what we would be able to do about it. Raiding is a damned idiotic game mechanic, but so long as the admins accept trolling as a legitimate form of gameplay, I don't know how to fight back. That's why I, as founder, have ultimate God powers.

So, I'm apparently a year late noticing this, but what was up with that Physiopathologic guy? He was apparently founded the day before posting that, then ceased to exist a month later. How did he possibly have time to develop some kind of dislike of us as a group?
