Statement from the White House

Though our past had us fight as enemies across the vast expanse of the Pacific, the years since the end of the Pacific War has had us as allies and I offer my deepest condolences to the Imperial Family and all of Japan in light of His Imperial Majesty's passing. Myself, my wife and Ambassador Rawlings shall attend the funeral after prior engagements in Moscow.

    Resolution on the Status of Sakhalin Island
    06 May 2024, Monday

Recalling the principles enshrined in the Charter of the United Assembly of Nations, particularly the principles of self-determination, territorial integrity, and the peaceful resolution of disputes.

Acknowledging the historical context surrounding the annexation of Sakhalin Island by -Empire of Japan- in 1905, which occurred during a period of intense geopolitical tensions and military conflict in the region.

Recognising that the Treaty of Portsmouth, signed on September 5, 1905, between Japan and Russia, effectively ceded control of Sakhalin Island to Japan, but also acknowledging that the circumstances under which this treaty was negotiated were influenced by the prevailing military situation, which may have limited Russia's ability to fully exercise its sovereignty.

Affirming the right of all peoples to self-determination and recognising the significance of the Russian peoples of Sakhalin Island, whose interests and rights were not considered by the Japanese state either at the time of its annexation or at a time there after.

Condemning any unilateral actions that seek to alter the status of Sakhalin Island or undermine the territorial integrity of states.

Noting the longstanding dispute between the Russian Federation and Japan regarding the status of Sakhalin Island, and the importance of finding a mutually acceptable and peaceful resolution to this issue,

Emphasising the importance of dialogue, negotiation, and cooperation between the Russian Federation and Japan, as well as the involvement of relevant international stakeholders, in resolving the status of Sakhalin Island in accordance with international law and principles.

  1. Affirms that the annexation of Sakhalin Island by Japan in 1905 through military means is illegal and in violation of international law;

  2. Recognises that the Treaty of Portsmouth, signed in 1905, was negotiated under duress and acknowledges the need for a comprehensive reevaluation of the circumstances surrounding its signing, with due consideration given to the historical context and the principles of international law;

  3. Calls upon the Russian Federation and Japan to engage in constructive dialogue and negotiations with the aim of finding a mutually acceptable solution to the status of Sakhalin Island, taking into account the interests and rights of all relevant parties;

  4. Encourages the Russian Federation and Japan to explore all available mechanisms for dispute resolution, including diplomatic negotiations, mediation, and arbitration, in order to achieve a peaceful and sustainable resolution to the status of Sakhalin Island;

  5. Requests the Secretary-General of the United Assembly of Nations (Flourishing Southlands) to facilitate and support the efforts of the Russian Federation and Japan in resolving the status of Sakhalin Island, including through the provision of technical assistance and good offices, as necessary;

STATEMENT FROM SHAHANSHAH ARDASHIR VI, GOLESTAN PALACE

Emperor Hirosito was a great man to the Japanese people. Although many people criticize him for his war crimes during the Second World War, his storied century-long reign from then was marked by peace, prosperity, and a commitment to human rights. Hirohito cannot be made as a scapegoat that the world uses against Japan. I express my deepest condolences at the loss of an emperor faithful to his people. Myself, my wife, and my son shall attend the Emperor's funeral.

    OFFICE OF THE VOZHD | ОФИС ВОЖДА

    An Open Letter from the Vozhd of All Russians, Nadezhda Zykina
    08 May 2024, Wednesday

It is with a sense of duty that I remark on the occasion of the passing of Emperor Hirosito. While we extend our condolences to the people of -Empire of Japan- during this time of mourning, we must also acknowledge the complex legacy left behind by Hirosito's reign.

Emperor Hirosito's rule was marked by a series of actions that have left a lasting scar on the collective memory of many nations, particularly those in Asia and the Pacific. His reign oversaw the expansionist ambitions of the Japanese Imperial forces, which led to untold suffering and loss of life across the region.

As we reflect on Hirosito's passing, we cannot ignore the millions who perished at the hands of the Japanese Imperial forces, including almost ten thousand Soviet soldiers who fought bravely and with honour for the liberation of both our Mongolian and Chinese counterparts. Hirosito's legacy is one that is stained with the blood of innocent victims, and for many, his passing brings a sense of relief rather than sorrow.

While we acknowledge the significance of Hirosito's role in Japanese history, we must also recognise the pain and suffering inflicted by his regime on countless individuals and communities. I ask all Russian people, on this day, not to focus on the memory of Hirosito, whether positive or negative, but rather the millions of innocent people who died under his imperialist rule.

With guarded condolences,

    Надежда Зыкина

Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the United Kingdom
Statement by the Right Honourable Lachlan MacKinnon, Foreign Secretary

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Today, I address you in the gravest of times, as the actions of the Russian Federation not only compromise the territorial integrity of nations like Georgia but also echo in the distant waters surrounding Japan. Such acts are not isolated incidents but a clear pattern of behavior that reflects a disturbing trend towards modern imperialism.

On Georgia: The forceful imposition on Georgia’s sovereignty, particularly in the regions of Abkhazia and South Ossetia, mirrors an era of imperial dominance that the world believed was over. The annexation of Georgian territories under pretenses of protection or peacekeeping starkly violates the principles of international law and the United Nations charter.

On Japan: Similarly, in the Pacific, the Russian stance on territories like the Kuril Islands, while historically contentious, should be resolved through diplomatic means rather than through unilateral actions that disregard Japan's longstanding concerns and rights. This, too, is reflective of an imperialist mindset that undermines regional stability and international norms.

The United Kingdom condemns these actions in the strongest terms and calls upon the Russian Federation to engage in genuine dialogue and respect the sovereignty of nations. We stand with Georgia and Japan, affirming our commitment to uphold international law and support efforts to resolve these conflicts through peaceful means.

Let there be no mistake: The pattern of behavior we see is an affront to the principles upon which international peace and security are built. We, as a community of nations, must not waver in our resolve to confront such aggression and to support those who suffer from it.

Thank you.
