Official Announcement

It is the intention of The Arken to run (again) for the position, Minister of Infrastructure.

The Ministry of Infrastructure, in my mind, calls forth images of the physical manifestation of the power of the region - the Regional Capital. It is therefore one of the points I would make as minister to begin construction on a new regional capital. The city will be centrally located and be home to the official council building, the governor's office, and the ministries' headquarters, as well as monuments and regional museums.

The map, although useful for communicating certain things, is lackluster. As minister, I would expand the map to include such things as formal embassies between nations, railroads, highways, sea lanes, major airports, and subnational units, among others. These new additions will be featured in many new maps.

Another addition will be in the form of space exploration. Unlike Scalesburg's vision for the exploitation of resources, this ministry's focus would be entirely on the exploration and surveillance of space, both near and far.

A final addition will be a flag gallery, with explanations for the design and symbols featured on the flags of the many nations.

Ocean currents, air currents, tectonic plates, POIs, natural disasters, and more!

All of the changes will be organized and made into a website, which will be launched soon after the successful election of The Arken to the Ministry of Infrastructure.

As I'm assuming we will be announcing our run of MoI again, then this will be mine.

I, along with Scalesburg and Hunzali have been communicating over changes that should occur to this region.

First, the map. A basic map has been made to replace the current one, featuring the basic rivers, mountains and for the most part forests. The main change for the map will be adding new size constraints. These include:
Starting Claim, the first claim you will make to get on the map. 60,000 pixels max
Colony Claim, any claim that does not touch your existing land will be counted as a colony claim. 20,000 pixels map
Extension Claim, any land touching existing land (starting claim, colony claim, extension claim) will be an extension claim. 40,000 pixels max

There will also be constraints on how many cities you may have that will also go up as you claim more land. Cities will not be limited on where you can place them.

Space will no longer be a campaign point for me as MoI as the economic minister, Scalesburg, has agreed to the time period of the region being set around the industrial revolution giving zero space for exploration of space.

I believe that the map is roleplay specific and bares no right to directly hold anything out of rp nor does the region have the right to own land on said map, including embassy locations of other regions.
This makes me look lazy and to an extent it is definitely true but to any extent I believe the goal should be simplicity. Managing things like natural disasters and other massive additions to the map goes against simplicity, but what is the reason for simplicity? It's freedom. NationStates and by extent, Novus Lucidum is roleplay based meaning that everything that happens should be for the most part up to the parties partaking. A given nation can choose roleplay natural disasters with other nations, the minister of infrastructure does not have the right to force someone into a roleplay.

This seems more like a rant against Arken's run, partly because it's true, I think you can be too optimistic with something I view as being made to be simple but necessary.

Founder's Announcement

I received some intel yesterday via one of our members yesterday. Due to that a peace proposal to TWC is off the table. We got more things to do here and worry about.

I'm no meteorologist, but I'm pretty sure it isn't supposed to be yellow outside.
