An alias of Ealhart could be Loegrius, from Loegria (the name given to King Arthur’s realm and a Latinisation of the Brittonic name for the region that now constitutes England). “Ser Loegrius” has a nice ring to it.

Haqeldamaic Loegria? 👀 Hmm 🤔

I had some ideas for Ealhart/Loegrius, inspired what I know of mythology. I’ve laid them out within the context of the Monomyth, the “Hero’s Journey”, as it’s called - the Monomyth is a pattern of events that’s found in myths from Ancient Greece, India, and popular fiction.

1. Status Quo: he is found on the steps of a rural village chapel one night and taken in by the lone priest, who raises Ealhart as his son. He grows up to be an assistant to the priest and an errand boy that does odd-jobs around the village; he’s popular around the village and known for his exceptionally fair looks and great intelligence, which brings his ego and humility into conflict with one another.

2. Call to adventure: whether from a mysterious message or strange dream, something beckons him to leave his home and venture outwards. For a time, he refuses the call, but an attack that kills his adopted father sees him leave the town in search of who was responsible. He encounters something, whether violent opposition or some other setback, that sets him on the route to the next stage of the pattern.

3. Assistance: Ealhart searches for and finds a mentor in the form of a mysterious elderly man in the woods, who is at first unwelcoming to the young man, but eventually warms and agrees to tell Ealhart what he knows. The old man teaches him about the world of fey, magic and divinity, as well as hints to his origins, and sword and magic training. Ealhart receives his first full suit of armour upon completing his training.

4. Departure: Ealhart leaves the old man and goes off into the world, searching for his real parents and the murderer of his adoptive father, armed with his training and newfound knowledge of the world.

5. Trials: he experiences many difficulties and adventures, honing his skills and knowledge over months if not some years. He makes contacts, friends and enemies over this period.

6. Approach: new leads on what he seeks are discovered and he once again focuses his efforts into tracking down his real parents and origins. He becomes embroiled in a civil war between those loyal to the deposed king and those who support his usurper brother, who quickly becomes a tyrant.

7. Crisis: something strikes him down, and leaves him for dead. He is resurrected by a young witch. This stage sees him lose his armour and tools, metaphorically his old life, and he becomes dependent upon this woman (due to being undead now), who evolves into his love interest. His resurrection curses him with ashen skin and a deathly appearance, stripping him of his former fairness. He enwraps himself in bandages and armour to hide his appearance.

7. Treasure: Ealhart defeats the usurper and beheads him in a duel, helping to restore the honourable, old king to his throne. He is revealed to be the king’s firstborn son, a bastard, whom he had borne with the Elfqueen and whose life has been watched by his mother’s agents, and more recently his father’s. His adoptive father was killed on his uncle’s orders under fears Ealhart would overthrow him. He reveals his fate to his father, who accepts him as his son again regardless, later dying in his son’s presence after pronouncing him his heir. His father had also revealed his true name, Loegrius, to him.

8. Result: fearful of his undeath becoming known because he would have to remove his armour, he travels to the boundaries of Fairie and is brought to his mother, the immortal Elfqueen, who not only cures his undeath but blesses him with some other power or boon. Upon his return to the city but before his coronation, he reconnects with his half brother and deals with personal crises leading up to his coronation.

9. Return: realising he would never have wanted to be king, realised from reflecting his mother’s words to him, he entrusts the crown to his half brother, and all his descendants, and leaves to pursue the Sun around the Earth, helping those in need as he goes and protecting those who cannot protect themselves.

10. New Life: back on the road, now joined by the witch and some other companions, he stays true to his quest and adventures for years to come.

11. Resolution: after some more years of adventure, Ealhart/Loegrius is killed. His mother killed him in rage for not accepting her advances, as an elven/fairy prophecy was supposed to be fulfilled by his and her child. In death, he enters the services of the Godhead/the Divine, and becomes a reincarnating Eternal Champion. Once again, undeath is placed upon him, but he retains his fairness despite it except immediately after resurrection. He becomes a messianic figure in his homeland, who’ll return from death when the kingdom is endangered, and is revered as a divine avatar by most of the people.
