I think that's how it should be. Something that exists that is meaningfully important to such a large group of people, but not everyone needs to take part in it.

It's also fascinating watching the sh*ttier side of my family always complain about how degenerate and in their face it is, despite the fact that they talk about it far more than the LGBT community does lol

Wanna hear a hot take?
We know that there's no such things as a normal human sexuality per see (ancient greeks engaging in pederasty, etc.)
I am not a psychologist or an authoritative source on sexuality, nor am I gay. But I do have a theory that humans are in some ways biologically programed to be repulsed or turned off by alternative lifestyles. Evolutionarily speaking they don't make much sense as they probably won't lead to procreation (which is the ultimate goal of all life, from a purely biological standpoint). Is it cringe for them to make snide remarks? Yes.
You tell me if it makes sense or not, feel free to call me bigoted or whatever, I'm just trying to wrap my heads around things here.
From what I know you're a decent human being, so I don't see a reason to judge you for living out your sexuality (your choice in lifestyle, if you will)

Ah yes; well to be fair, I use the annual Eurovision Song Contest for that. One week of horrible music and complicated score keeping per year is a small price to pay to keep my 'membership' :)

It's human nature to be wary of things different to what you are/know/believe. That's why tribalism exists (from an international level [those damn Mexicans stealing our jobs] right down to your neighbors [Weird vegan liberal millenials ruining a perfectly good cookout with quinoa instead of steaks] ). Doesn't mean you need to try to dehumanize and demean the Other Guy because they have a quality that is completely out of their control.

Evolutionarily speaking there is an advantage of having some members of the species not procreate: They can watch over the children while the parents gather resources. I'm on mobile so I can't find it right now but it has been documented, as is a multitude of species with recorded homosexual tendencies. There's a difference between Natural and Normal that a lot of people don't understand.

Pederasty is sexual assault and grooming of a minor. It's pedophilia under a different name and was (and is) an abhorrent practice. It wasn't even that common and even back then a lot of people frowned upon it. It is not comparable to being gay, just so happens to be a specific subset of statutory rape and grooming that only applies towards boys as the victim

No, it doesn't mean dehumanization. I strictly wanted to go at this detached from ethics.
That depends, I'd say. But I can see the reason behind it. It would be interesting if creating gay people was basically nature's way of daycare.
When it comes to pederasty I was pointing it out as a practice that seemed normal at the time; yet is abhorrent to us today. From a detached perspective, you can compare the two, but i can understand why you wouldn't want to... it's a touchy subject. Going off on a tangent; i remember hearing something about Socrates being mocked for specifically not engaging in the practice. Wouldn't it be hilarious if they killed him for not being a pedophile?

Hi guys and ladies just letting you all know im waiting for a map to be located so I can role play ive just sent off a long application.

Weinam National Soccer Team

The Weinam PR national soccer team (Weinamese: 中国国家足球队) represents the People's Republic of Weinam in international association football (Soccer) and is governed by the Weinam Soccer Association.

The team was formed in May 1981, when football was becoming a national sport with several small leagues and competitions developing across Weinam. The first National team consisted of 14 players chosen completely at random by a national lottery system. The first ever match for the national team was against the Weinamese Army XI in 1982 and ended up in a 2-2 draw. More recently the team featured in it's first ever Isles Cup competition in 2017 where they finished in the second round, having narrowly qualified from their group stage.

The team is colloquially termed "Team Weinam" with the nickname of simply "The Reds".
Weinam's home kit is traditionally all red with a white trim while their away kit is traditionally an inverted version of the home kit, fully white with a red trim. In 1999, Weinam employed a third kit which was all blue with a white trim. Goalkeepers often wear either green, yellow or black Kits with either red or yellow trims.

There's an official league I-don't-remember-who was working on. Dormill and Stiura was involved for sure.

Adding mine, would love to join.

Football is the most popular sport in Ostehaar (followed by Ice Hockey and Tennis). The Oster Association of Football is the sport's national governing body, with roughly 950,000 members (about 9% of the population) organized in almost 3,600 football clubs. The Oster premier league division, Daaftpehl (top-level), is regarded as one of the most difficult in the region, and it is currently led by the Lindastir Daarem (Lindastir Union) football club.

History and Competitions

Haalban City football club in 1919

A slow start

The sport was first introduced to Ostehaar by immigrants and expatriates from Noronica during the Noronnican period of the 19th century. The first Oster club team (Haalban City) was established by a Noronnican teacher at the King Praasder School in 1883 - at the height of the Independence War. It was mainly a symbolic move, as no other teams were established during the war and so Haalban City had no competitors to play against.

Noronnican football clubs tours in Ostehaar contributed to the spread and development of football in the country during the first years of the 20th century, when the young nation was struggling to stand on its feet. The southern part of Ostehaar was under Verdonian occupation at the time, but Oster football clubs still formed there - most notably Lindastir FC in 1909.

After the second war against Verdon, the Oster Tihdreher je Ohfgaan (Oster Association of Football) was established, and in 1929 Ostehaar joined the Gael section of the IFAF. The Porohare League was organized at the same year and the first championship was held in 1930. In 1957 the league split into the three professional divisions known today - Daaftpehl (top-level), Midenpehl (middle-level), and Vijepehl (advanced-level).

The national cup competitions, most notably the Reht Jun and Reht Super-jun (State Cup and Super-cup), are held since 1973 at the Campus Olympic Arena in Porohare. The Super-jun is the second most important national title in Oster football after the Daaftpehl championship.

Lindastir winning the Daaftpehl in 1988

The Golden Age

Oster football remained largely unnoticed for most of the 20th century, lacking the energy and funding needed to break-through to the highest level competitions. The turning point came in 1982, when Oster coach Ehrin Sjihnervan was appointed manager of Lindastir FC after a period of playing in Norstham and coaching the Norsan team Royal Austrabýur. His period in a country with a long tradition of professional football significantly contributed to his experience and abilities.

When he came to Lindastir FC, Sjihnervan had one condition to the club owners and board - complete control over club budget and youth programs. He emphasized education for teamwork, introduced a new approach to discipline and training, and hand-picked players from across the country and from other nations in the region. He led discussions between Lindastir FC and Lindastir Coast that eventually resulted in the formation of the Lindastir Daarem (Lindastir Union) football club in 1984.

Sjihnervan revolutionized the club, making Lindastir Union the leading team in Oster football. Within several years after his arrival, the team won three consecutive Daaftpehl championships (1988, 1989, 1990) and two consecutive super-cups (1988, 1989). By 1991 most players in the national team were Lindastir Union players (and not Haalban City players, as it was prior to 1991). This injection of vitality and enthusiasm to Oster football, coupled with the recovery period following the economic depression of the mid-1980's, motivated other clubs to re-invent themselves, leading to a period commonly known in Ostehaar as the "Oster football golden age" (roughly 1990-2000).

After a decade with Lindastir Union, Sjihnervan moved in 1993 to open the Oster Academy of Football in one of the city's suburbs. He initiated the Vijehaal je Ohfgaan Estaadir (Advanced Program for Football Students) Linkyouth system and club, with the goal of educating and training the next generation of Oster football players. Many of today's top Daaftpehl players started in the Vijehaal, as well as several players of foreign leagues (such as the Dragon Division of Athara Magarat). For his period in Lindastir and as the manager of the Vijehaal, Ehrin Sjihnervan is considered in Ostehaar the "godfather of Oster football" to this day. He passed away in 2004, at the age of 66, and left the academy in the caring hands of one of his former players, Martin Jeh Brent.

Decline and Resurgence

The early 2000's saw a decline in Oster football achievements, most attributed to the decrease in state funding of high-quality infrastructure and programs. This caused many talented Oster players to choose foreign teams over local ones, thereby reducing overall potential even further. In an attempt to protest the government's treatment of football in Ostehaar, the 2005 and 2006 super-cups were cancelled by the football association. In July 2006, after a staggering 5-0 loss of the Oster national team to Dormill and Stiura's in the Gael Qualifiers, nearly 300,000 Oster football fans demonstrated in front of the Darna in Porohare. As a result, one of the leading issues in the political campaign towards the March 2007 general elections was the status of Oster football.

In the following decade, Oster football quickly regained its high status. Lindastir Union and Haalban City ruled the domestic league and cup tournaments again, each of them with 3 Daaftpehl wins between 2007 and 2017. Other dominant teams were Porohare City, that won twice in the league during that time, and Teser FC and North Coast FC from Savarehat, each with a single league win.

For many Oster football enthusiasts, the 2017-2018 season marked a return to the "golden days" of Oster football. The Daaftpehl provided some favorably remembered moments and games that season, and in the summer of 2018 Lindastir Union (with Martin Jeh Brent as coach) won the Gael Championship Cup. A week after that, the national team - most of it composed of Lindastir Union players - won 5-1 against Michigonia.

Notable Clubs

The Ostehaar football league is is dominated these days by the two big clubs mentioned above - Lindastir Daarem (Lindastir Union) and Haalban City. The latter was the dominant club for most of the Daaftpehl's history, with over 20 league wins between 1957 and 1987. Lindastir joined Haalban at the top in the late 1980's, and between 1987 and 2017 both teams have won the tournament roughly 10 times. When these two clubs meet in the final of a league or cup tournament, the match is usually referred to as hehr faast (lit. king's match).

Lindastir Daarem (Lindastir Union)

Lindastir Union, also commonly known as Na Ehadir (The Towers) or the Lindas, is currently Ostehaar's most successful and highest-earning football club. It has won 15 Daaftpehl championships and 21 super-cups since it was founded in 1984. In 2018 it also won the Gael cup.

Oster sports commentator Behl Vehranfaar described the team's playing style as "offensive yet elegant and disciplined". Ehrin Sjihnervan, who played and coached in Norstham before returning home to form the club almost from scratch, brought with him some of the Norsan approach and playing philosophy - such as total football features like high fullbacks turning wingers and attacking midfielders, and running off-the-ball tactics.

Lindastir Union is coached by Martin Jeh Brent since 2007, and the club manager is Ben Vulf Brahe (fondly nicknamed BVB by fans). Its current sponsor is Waterfall (Electronics) and the team's kit is orange and black, as seen in one of the above photographs.

The home stadium is Na Vrehe (The Crater), located close to the city center. With roughly 60,000 seats, it is the largest stadium in Ostehaar. The stadium was built on top of an older arena in 1980, when it was still the home grounds of Lindastir FC (prior to the Union). The club has a secondary stadium, which is also the second largest arena in Ostehaar - the "Lindas Open" in the city's suburbs (57,000 seats)

Haalban City player with the green uniform

Haalban City

Haalban City is better known in Ostehaar as Na Glahe Kraasir (The Green Demons), or simply Na Glahesir (The Greens), after the color of their uniform. It is the oldest club in Ostehaar and the winner in most of the competitions that took place in the country during the 20th century. Until Lindastir Union formed in the mid-1980's, it ruled the Oster football league.

The late 1980's Lindastir Union spree inspired some changes in the club during the 1990's. The team's coach at the time, Aamit Lindehn, tried at first to match Lindastir's more offensive approach, but eventually ended up formulating a different playing style. In the last two decades, Haalban's game has commonly been described as "aggressive" and "physical", and nowadays the team is considered Ostehaar's best defensive team.

Haalban City is coached by Daar Ambrehsj, and the club manager is Lara Haardin. Its current sponsor is Echo Holdings, and its home stadium is the Druhin Arena (30,000 seats) in the suburbs of Haalban.

National Team

Ostehaar's national football team has represented the country in regional competitions since 1930. Since the early 1990's it is comprised mostly of Lindastir Union players, and the others are from the remaining top 4 teams in Oster football - Haalban City, Porohare City, Teser FC and North Coast FC from Savarehat. It is commonly called Na Barnir (The Rocks) and Rehtmand (State-team), and its green and blue uniform can be seen in one of the above photographs.

The team is coached by Evan Sjahn from Porohare - a former Lindastir Union player who played under the club's current coach, Martin Jeh Brent. Rather than developing innovative team formations or styles of play, Sjahn preferred to stick to Lindastir's approach and attempted to combine Haalban City's defensive strength into the mix. The team usually plays 4-3-3, 4-2-4, and 3-4-3 formations.

Most Oster football fans consider the national team to be inferior to the country's leading Daaftpehl teams as a result of this mix of attitudes. Nonetheless, the Rehtmand is considered a very good team, and as of mid-2018 it is one of the leading teams in the 2018 IFAF tournaments.

Austrenya

Austrenya (/Os-tren-ee-a/ ; Austrenyan: 西方王國), officially the Imperial Royarchy of Austrenya, known also as the Royarchy, is a country located in the Azure Archipelago, within the Mesder Sea, in the Western Isles. Its population is approximately 12 million people as of a 2019 estimate; Henking, the nation's capital, is the largest city, followed be Luangxi.

Civilisations first emerged in ancient times around the Azure River, which now runs through Henking; for millennia, Austrenya's political system ran off hereditary monarchies, or dynasties, beginning with the semi-mythical Hun dynasty in 19th century BC. Since then, Austrenya has fractured, reunified, expanded and contracted in the Mesder region numerous times. During the early dynastic Royarchies, Austrenya saw some of the most advanced technologies of the time, such as compass crafting during the period of the Lin Royarchy from 221 - 97 BC. After the Period of Two Royarchs, which saw Austrenya divided into two individual kingdoms for several decades, the Northern Tai Royarchy successfully deposed the Southern Luang Royarchy, and proclaimed the new Empire of Austrenya in 1730 as an attempt to move the nation towards becoming much more aligned with western values. The Empire began numerous campaigns against [EMPIRE], [EMPIRE2], and [EMPIRE3], with all conflicts resulting in disastrous defeats for the new nation. It also saw many port cities being seized by the three opponents in various treaties and ultimatums. The Empire of Austrenya was dissolved in 1784, when the Luang Dynasty successfully reinstated their control over Austrenya. This shift back to a much more fuedalist, theocratic society did not sit well with the general population, however, who enjoyed the relative liberal freedoms grantede by the previous Empire. Various revolts were crushed during the 19th Century, however the Henking Rebellions of 1888 saw the removal of the Royarchy and creation of a new republic, known initially as the United Provinces of Austrenya. Promoting ethnic and gender equality, laissez-faire economic ideals and many more modern policies, the new republic managed to stabilise the country and oversaw a process of massive industrialisation. During the 1910s, however, the economy completely collapsed, and the Xīnfāngfa Party (New Way in English) seized control in the Great Coup of 1917. The Austrenyan Social Federation was established after the Grand Estate was dissolved in January. The Austreyan Social Federation, whilst not officially a fascist regime, enacted several policies which mirrored happenings in Nazi Germany and Italy a decade after. The ethnic minorites such as the Fengchu were demonised by a new education system and ethnic violence was actively encouraged. The Federation entered the Imperial War in 1942, fighting for 'Austrenyan cultural land'. Whilst not officially on the Neo-Imperialist side, Austrenya aided their cause and permitted military access. With the loss of the Imperial War in 1949, General Chiang Shi of the Xīnfāngfa was ousted, and the public voted to revive the monarchy in a referendum in November, with a semi-constitutional role rather than an absolute one.

Austrenya is a semi-constitutional theocratic monarchy and is a developed country with an advanced high income economy and a very high standard of living. Austrenya's unique cultural heritage, large tourism industry and prominant shipping sector helps classify it as a middle power.

Etymology

The name "Austrenya" is somewhat ambiguous in its origin. Some sources suggest the name comes from the term used to denote the Germanic tribes in the northwest, the 'Ostrens', with the romanic suffix 'ya' to show ownership of land or a title, thus making the name neam "Land of the Ostrens". Another hyopothesis is the old Grusian term for "land of foals", Austenella. Many historical texts from the time of the Etrusian Empire claim that the name came from the legendary king of the ancient utopian kingdom of old, Austrilus.

In the Etrusian Empire, the term "Austrenya" was first used with the spelling Austrynia to denote the provinces which now make up the largest island in the Empire, now called Patria. In many treaties and documents, Patria is consistently referred to as Austrynia and later with its modern spelling as the Etrusian Empire collapsed into many small warring factions. The maritime republics of Floresia and Valcinia both referred to as the Etrusian Archipelago as the "Austrenyan Archipelago", and continued to do so until the unification of the city states in 1723.

As the Ovculan Republic unified the archipelago in the 18th century, this sees the first time "Austrenya" is used as a term to refer to a country. The coronation of the Doge Cosimo Barbaringio sees the first time "Austrenya" was also used in a title of a monarch, with Barbaringio being crowned "King of all Austrenyans of the Etrusian Archipelago", becoming Cosimo I of the Kingdom of Austrenya.

History

Early Period and the Etrusian Empire

At the end of the antiquity period, the Etrusian Archipelago was divided into several small petty kingdoms, small warring families and other microstates. It was not until the Valcinian Kingdom under Justinian conquered much of the islands that there was a successive, unified nation-state. After his successful annexation, Justinian proclaimed himself "Most Divine King of all Etrusians", reforming his kingdom into the Etrusian Empire in 497, with the city of Valcinia declared its capital. Many small islands and other areas of the archipelago were most likely still independent at this point, but most probably declared homage or became vassals of the Etrusians.

In 502 Justinian completed his invasion of the north-west islands off the coast of the Etrusian homelands, assimilating the local - often described as Germanic - population into the Romanic, Catholic Etrusian culture. Justinian then began the construction of a new capital city, Ovculia, which remains the capital of Austrenya to this day.

The large expanses of water between the islands which made of the Etrusian Empire led to the innovation of large ships and other incredibly advanced commercial shipping. The merchant class in the Etrusian Empire effectively became somewhat of a nobility in all but name, with the actual Etrusian nobility effectively sliding into merchant shipping and begin their involvement in the commercial system. Even some kings such as Clovis III dabbled in merchant shipping and trade. However, a major threat to Etrusian trading was the rapid growth in piracy around the archipelago which began in the early 700s. With only a very small military navy, the Etrusian merchant fleet it preyed upon by pirate ships and other groups of criminals and gang members. The White Strait between the islands which are now referred to as Patria and Estria became jokingly named the "Passage of Hell" by merchant shippers fearing for the safety of their goods.

By the 9th Century, King Marco II had established a sizeable naval fleet, capable to deal with both foreign invaders and pirates. Piracy in the archipelago was largely crushed under his reign, at the expensive of many lives and ships. By this point in time, the Etrusian Empire's dominance was decreasing at a dramatic rate, with many small states and petty kingdoms declaring themselves autonomous, but still loyal to Ovculia. Marco began a long campaign against Valcinia, a city which had recently delcared itself its own Dukedom under the Nuvici family. Despite being vastly outnumbered and surrounded by Etrusia, Valcinia successfully defended itself against invasion, and King Marco was forced to cede land outside the Valcinian city walls to the fledgling dukedom. This crushing defeat in 856 would set a trend for the decline of the Etrusian Empire, with Marco II committing suicide just a year after his defeat at Valcinia with no male heir. Four more kings would be declared in the space of two years until the crowning of Justinian VII in 859.

Justinian was a major reformer, and gathered all the breakaway states to meet with the remaining Etrusian domain in Ovculia. The Treaties of Ovculia which were signed in this gathering saw the creation of an Imperial Estate, where leaders from various de facto independent duchies and citie would meet with the King of Etrusians to discuss the direction in which the Empire should take. Justinian VII was also blessed by Pope Nicholas I of Rome in 861, declaring himself Holy Emperor of all Etrusians in March of that year and founding the Holy Etrusian Empire, which confusingly was a seperate entity from the Etrusian Empire, that spanned the entirity of the archipelago and technically incorporated all the small states in the islands.

Early Middle Ages

After a series of wars with the Principality of Lusitya from 943-987, and a defeated invasion from the [FOREIGN POWER NEEDED], Justinian VII died of what is believed to be chronic heart failure on Christmas Eve of 989. He is believed to be the last great King of Etrusia, and was the final barrier to a complete collapse of the Empire. The Holy Etrusian Empire ended with his death, surviving only a century with no real authority or presence in Etrusian politics. However, it did help to form a close bond between Etrusian kings and the Papacy which lasted until the Empire's demise in 1398.

The Ovculian Citadel as it stands today

The death of Justinian VII left a power vacuum in the Empire which was filled by Hadrian Devorinni, who was also head of the small Republic of Antre which was on the east coast of Patria. The coronation of Hadrian I ended the reign of the Etrusian-Justinian Dynasty, and began the era of the Devorinni Dynasty, who are considered by many historians as a reason for the Empire's demise. Hadrian's rule was characterised by constant skirmishes with [SOUTHERN NEIGHBOUR] which the Etrusian Empire frequently lost, and also political insurrection in Ovculia. Hadrian survived three assassination attempts from the nephew of Justinian VII, Gregori of Racipoli, who was later executed for high treason in 1006. In 1011 the city of Antre (which Hadrian also held lordship over) was burnt to the ground by rebels, destroying countles historical buildings such as the Cathedral of Antre. Hadrian himself was also incredibly gluttonous, seen partying and putting on significant weight near the end of his reign. On the year of his death, 1032, Hadrian I apparently weighed anywhere between 17 and 25 stone. The Revolt of Antre was swiftly dealth with with force, resulting in the loss of around 90 lives, and during this time the fields surrounding Ovculia were delcared royal hunting grounds, which today has lead of Ovculia having a third of its territory be green space. Hadrian also oversaw the construction of the Ovculian citadel which was finished five years after his death in 1023.

Hadrian's only son, Emmanuel, was crowned king at the age of 12 in October of the same year of his father's death, [yet to be decided]
