Overview

The Urbani Unitary Republic is a technologicially advanced nation of about 50,500,000 (2026) Urbanian citizens. She's a Unitary State loosely held together by self-governing districts, which survives primarily on agriculture and fuel exports. The land is majority dense evergreen forests and windswept mountains, and as such the weather is relatively cold.

To her southeast, she borders Bastilom, a nation she has historically maintained a neutral relationship with, a precedent that’s lasted to this day.

To her southwest, she previously bordered Allouxia, and to her north, the tribal federation of Cote azure.

l'Histoire

Centuries of fighting led to the Urbanian people's mastery of the guerilla tactics that has allowed Urbania to hang on by a thread and avoid total annihilation by external forces wishing to colonize the western coast. Wet, uneven terrain and fiercely resistant indigenous cultures and fiefdoms discouraged Azuran, Stigyan and Allouxian settlement of Urbanian lands into the 20th century, hence why ethnic Urbani mostly dwell in the east, as they have historically to avoid the fighting, often living semi-nomadically, seldom constructing permanent structures until after the middle ages.

Yet, these virgin lands remain rich in culture, ancient knowledge and unusual food. In 1509, Christian refugees and pilgrims fled from the north to settle the west coast of Urbania near what is now the capitol of (Açenoi), one of which became King Alexander, who was then succeeded by Queen Marie who then installed a matriarchy.

Later, in the 1600s, small, interconnected fiefdoms and agricultural societies formed in the east of the nations to protect the farmlands from pillaging and foreign religious subversion, as the largely Protestant Urbani peoples were often the targets of attack.

Districts

Our beautiful country is divided into 21 administrative districts of which 20 are mostly self-governing. Many of these districts have distinct cultures and histories that cane to represent one country out of necessity during difficult times over the past 400 years.
District Administratif d’Açenoi
Açenoi (anglicized as Acenoa) is the smallest district containing only a section of Açenoi-Principal, which is managed by the national government. There is very little business in the district, mostly government buildings.
District de Tavea
A large, rural district surrounding the capital city of Açenoi, which nonetheless supports a huge percentage of the nation’s population. It also contains the rest of Açenoi. Tavea supports the nation’s lumber industry.
District de la Plage d’Argent
The second smallest district bordering west of Açenoa. Only a few kilometers of land, this District manages a stretch of urbanized coast. Locals see it as an extension of the capital city, and it is in many ways but is self governing. (OOC: It’s based on Ocean City, Maryland. Great place if you get the chance to go. And also on the micronation of Monaco.)
District de Victoire
Hundreds of thousands of kilometers of terrace farms and vineyards. Notably contains Urbania’s largest air force base.
