To destroy your enthusiasm... not really.
The issue was that the transportation took to long and the people who were working found it annoying because they had to work much and came late to work and late home. The choices were like this (if I oversimplify it):
1. Build more rails.
2. Use renewable energy.
3. Let people arrange their own work schedules and work for four hours a day.
4. Give a higher salary and let people work from home.
The issue isn't only about a slow transportation system but also about job times...
