Let's say... you have a non-aggression pact with this nation, perhaps even a trade agreement, but NOT any kind of military alliance. The point being, don't overthink this as a matter of obligation, or consider the possibility of betrayal. No help was promised to this nation before this, it's just a request. And nothing you send will be used against you later. And your nation would not be significantly harmed by the possible defeat of the other nation. And the invading nation has no intention of attacking you later, no matter what you send, or whether they win or not. And you're not in a war or any other national crisis yourself right now. That's enough, I think I'm overthinking this. This is probably why I'll never be able to create an issue on NationStates, it would take too long to read and would have 27 options instead of the 3 that seems most common.
