Season 3’s finale was definitely... something, to say the least.

For some reason I’m beginning to feel Akel’s loneliness over the millennia.

(Specifically the last two episodes. I liked seasons 1 and 2 more.)

I can’t recall the lore I have in mind for Versilia, but Akeldama has lived since before Rome became noticeable on a map and lived in Europe for at least 75% or so of her life, so she couldn’t draw attention to herself. I reckon she lived isolated in a keep in the Caucasian or Carpathian mountains, wherever would be easier. Also the whole barely aging thing, lack of family, lovers fading like dust in the wind and the impossibility of converting others into vampires. I feel like Akeldama is more broken or tired inside than anything.

(I also heard they're just making stuff up as they go...the director never played a Castlevania game...)

Akeldama is smart enough to know that overdrinking would be detrimental to both memory and basic functions. She wants to keep both.
