      The Berlin Conference

BERLIN— President Emmanuel Macron touched down in Berlin this afternoon to speak with German Chancellor Angela Merkel on matters related to the EU and foreign policy wise. Europe has managed to avert another crisis in the Balkans after the president met with the Egyptians in Cairo and reached an agreement to remove Egyptian personnel from Bosnia and a non-aggression issue in effect for a 5 year period. In exchange for no economic sanctions or financial penalties on the Egyptian economy. With this diplomatic victory, Merkel and Macron wish to keep the momentum by coming up with more ideas to make sure that Europe continues to push for a more collective effort towards bettering the continent's security. Macron has been a critic of the American-led NATO since they vetoed the Libyan peace talks in Cairo, he also publicly called for less reliance on America when it comes to Europe's security. Other matters besides security also includes the ongoing Brexit situation. Since the United Kingdom has left the EU in January, the EU's chief negotiator said his team would "continue working with patience, respect and determination" following talks with his British counterparts. If they are unable to reach a deal by the end of the transition period at the end of the year, the UK will leave the EU's single market and the customs union without any agreement on future access. President Emmanuel Macron says that Europe may need to prepare for a no real Brexit deal, in the wake of how current talks have been going.
