Could you point out where exactly have I said that we should give up or when did I blame Cuba and North Korea for the actions of Big Capital? I apologize if I didn't make my point clear enough, but the takeaway for me was that we should fight *harder*.Each time there's a discussion like this on RMB I'm pulling my punches because I don't want to violate the site and/or region rules, but screw it. If I do accidentally break a rule, the post will be supressed anyway, so here goes: DO NOT wait until Capitalism destroys itself, no matter how hard or scary or comforting it might feel. Late stage Capitalism is self-destructive and is already crumbling, yes, but if you try and just 'wait it out' it will kill you before it dies. That's also why (on the topic of Utopian Socialism or whatever it's called) a town-sized commune, like CHAZ, will never work. Because you WILL NOT be left alone. You will be stepped on, gassed and driven over. People in power WILL NOT just give it up for the sake of some starving prole, they will bite and claw and kick as their ship sinks with you onboard. I keep saying I'm not an expert on economic theory but from what I've seen and read, I realised something: Fascism is nothing but Capitalism weaponized. Look around you, look at the freakin' world right now. The United States, Lebanon, Belarus, you really things will just go back to normal, even IF the protests die down? In Russia and Turkey (and Brazil, I think?) there are already new laws that potentially allow their leaders and ruling parties to stay in power indefinitely. That's NOT a sign things are hopeless and you should give up. It's a sign that either we ORGANIZE and ACT NOW or we WILL end up living under a new fascist regime, several of them! History is rapidly approaching a crossroads (if it's not already there) where the old Lenin quote is more apt than ever: Either Socialism or barbarism. Either we FIGHT and die in the thousands to win our freedom, or we face a new dark age and die in the millions as slaves (and yes, working conditions at most low-pay jobs ARE slavery in all but name) and undesirables with colored triangles on their shirts. Stand up, spread the truth in any way you can (phone filming, propaganda etc), ORGANIZE your movement and your demands, clench your fists and FIGHT, while there is still something SOMETHING TO FIGHT FOR left.
