Region: The Hole To Hide In

RP: Beginning the Ascent

A crowd gathered in the city of Aethyria’s Northern Metropolitan Center, a place of heavy traffic for people going from one end of the city to another. The center was shaped in the form of a symmetrical sun from a birds-eye-view, an honor to the Aethyrian god of the sun, Auris, as he blessed his chosen nation and the other nations with his light and warmth. Today Auris would be honored to be given a speech by the emperor, a man who had risen through the ranks of the old government as Grand Magister and Prime Consul. Yet despite the watchful eye of the sun god, Thoracian Guards surround every corner to catch any assassins or other criminals who dare shame this day. The people around them talk amongst themselves about various everyday life topics and events happening in their life. A moment later, the chatter stops and the center goes quiet as the Emperor takes the stage.

“Good afternoon, citizens. Thank you for coming today to bear witness to what I am going to tell you. I will be very brief with you all...
Our nation has just changed into something it has never been before: an empire, blessed by the gods of our people who have chosen us to become the greatest civilization in the world that will be equal to heaven in the eyes of the gods. It’s power is blessed straight from the god of all gods, Cortus, and thus making me the God-Emperor of Aethyria!
But for all of its power and radiance, our nation seems to be behind the other nations. Countries we have conquered remain uncivilized and nations to not yet see what our potential means to the world. We do not pose a major threat to their nations and the extent of what we have achieved as a civilization has been limited to our walls, and beyond lays nothing but barbarian communities whose values fill the world with their impurity.
My imperial citizens, some nations have civilized themselves while others fail to do so and leave much of their land without order or morality. So I will tell you this now...I will make our nation completely civilized, making it so cultured that it will know nothing else but the Empire, strength, virtue, honor, and freedom! I will make our military the strongest in the world so that no other nation may stand against us! I will build so many buildings and roads for the citizens that we may go wherever we want within our empire and become a prosperous and ordered society! I WILL DO THIS! So that we may know nothing else but the glory of our society and unrivaled prosperity!
I do this in the name of our gods, our society, and the citizens of the empire who deserve prosperity.”

The emperor finishes and steps away from the podium, the crowd clapping and cheering for the emperor who they believed led them to order and stability. As the crowd dispersed, they hoped to see their emperor’s promises fulfilled.
