'Is our great nation still stuck in the stone age?' needles your Minister of Technology, flickering your office lights on and off with swipes on her tablet screen. 'Hotel guests can damn well use their own phones; just make all the hotel TVs compatible.'

'Each hotel guest would need a secure password to connect their device to their room's TV.' Your Minister of Tourism is on the brink of tearing out his hair. 'Those lazy concierges will just give every room the same login. Everyone will manipulate each others' devices all across corridors and multiple floors. Can you imagine the chaos? The complaints? The cancellations?! We need a government programme to gift every tourist their own smart phone / TV remote, with a nice logo and a bit of tasteful advertising installed. They'll be back next year, and the year after!'

'TVs? yawns your Minister of Introspection. 'Such a bore. Tourists come to our country to contemplate our landscape and read our philosophical essays. The populace hardly watches any of that crap either. People can listen to the news on the radio. Let's abolish all TVs.'
