Sorrow to be Found

Sirens wailed outside of the docks of Rainfall City, with a solid 600 dead and almost triple that injured. Hospitals across the entire metropolitan area-- down to urgent care clinics from nearby rural bordwalk towns of only 300-- were fully staffed. Within an hour of this atrocity, the Spiritual Republic of Caryton declared a state of 'regional emergency' in the Eastern Gospel Authority. The nearby naval base or strategic rocket command site wasn't even targeted, leading the leaders of Caryton to believe that this was an intentional strike on civilians. While millions mourned and gathered in chapels to pray, it didn't take long for Carytonic intelligence to determine Kriegizstan to be the entity that bombed them.

Immediately, the defense minister-- Rev. John F. Stanton-- addressed the people as such in the Central Cathedral of the Gospel Church of Caryton in Georgine:

"My fellow Carytonic-- and God-fearing people across the world. Today is the day of an unprecedented and pre-meditated attack on one of our largest port cities. This attack was unprovoked and unforeseen by any of me and my colleagues. The rogue nation of Kriegizstan will not get away with what it has done to our people. Let it be known that in due time, they will pay their dues. The whole of the Ordained Combined Forces will be ready for any mission-- be it at home or thousands of miles away.

I call upon the whole of the world to introduce sanctions onto this evil nation, and to join in solidarity-- in the name of intolerance of any unprovoked terrorist attack. They must be isolated and starved out until they repent and pay us back, Cary Credit by Cary Credit-- even to the thousandths of a cent. Young men and sturdy-built women, I call upon you to enlist in our fine armed forces. I call upon the scientists of the nation to catch up, and I call upon the Gospel Church of Caryton to direct us all to a brighter future.

And it shall pass that nothing this grave will ever happen again-- not without total war."

On this day, hundreds of thousands of the youth have enlisted in the OCFSRC. The nation's veterans have been called to either enlist in the Home Force of Martyrs (civil defense) or the Armed Forces itself as mentors and trainers. For the rest of the day, ports will be put under greater security. A system of ship registration will ensure only approved and legitimate vessels ever make it to the shores for the rest of Caryton's existence. This will also stamp out the remnants of the drug trade in Southeastern Aurelia.

An Unlikely Truce

Deep within the mountains of the northern regions of the non-denominational authority, black-clad guerrillas bearing orange armbands were summoned in a cave-turned-FOB. The soldiers had everything from javelins to snipers slung to their backs, a regional lieutenant in a yellow vest and face-covering mumbling to his ensigns to get everyone's attention. The lieutenant raised a VHS tape simply titled "To the MCC"

Once it was inserted into the TV, the same defense minister from before, sitting in a much more discreet location, began to address the Militant Church of Cary. Kept short and sweet to appease the seperatist terrorists, it offered temporary amnesty from anti-terror warfare in exchange for their conscription in a series of revenge plots against Kriegizstan. The ideas and blueprints ranged from plain clothes murders to uniformed insurrections.

The field lieutenant folded his hands, an evil spark igniting in his eyes.
