The 2020 Elections are complete!

After four months of delays due to RRS-CoV-20, national elections were held across Minachia last night. While some seats remain contested and not all ballots have yet been accounted for, it seems that incumbent consul Norbanus has won a second term with about 60% of the vote. Furthermore, it would seem that the Nationals have claimed the majority of seats in the Senate. Congratulations have been given to the party and to Joannes Norbanus, who has promised to continue to rule wisely as he has done before, especially as the government undergoes restructuring as he announced last week.

More detailed reports will be provided in the coming days.

Detailed Election Results
Consul Norbanus has been reelected with 59.6% of the vote. His primary rival, Liberal Group senatorial leader Martinus Duronia, came in second with 30.3% of the vote. The remaining 11.1% was won by several third party and independent candidates.

In the Senate, the Nationals have replaced the Imperialists as the majority party with 152 of 300 seats. Next are the Imperialists, with 69 seats, and the Liberals, with 66 seats. Finally, 13 seats were won by independent and third party candidates.

Naval Developments
After the reactor was pulled from it and the standard power system, the Bastion is back on her normal placement within the Trimainia Navy. This was begun with a celebration among the top-brass of Trimainia and a small celebration that included handing out alcohol to the workers who worked on the ship among the minor refit and maintenance of Trimainia's co-Flagship.

The Girl with the red Scarf

As of late, the people of Konzask have been enthralled with a new trilogy of novels in their free time, simply known as the "Girl with the red Scar". The book fallows a young orphan girl with a red scarf named "Emilia", in an unnamed kingdom. The first books starts in an orphanage, where Emilia is wearing her red scarf, the only thing she has left from her birth family. She is soon adopted by an Christian Priest, and is taken into the care of the church. Initially, things seem to be going well, until she starts to notice more and more, what the Priest is actually doing. Over short periods of time, The priest buys her all sorts of things, be it books, clothes, even a new car. She finds out that he has the money to buy these things, from church donations, and figures out all he's trying to do, is "groom" her. She calls the authorities, disgusted at this revelation, and to her shock and horror, the priest bribes the authorities. Fearing for her life she flees, and is eventually sheltered by an underground communist organization. That's where the first novel in the Trilogy ends, and the Second begins. The second book briefly describes her simple, yet happy life in the organization, before throwing the reader back into action, as she is sent, posing as a made to spy on the king. At first, the king seems nice and friendly, this soon changes. She will watch the king use religion as a tool to emotionally manipulate the nation to bend the people to do what he wants, she'd watch him spend millions on himself, as the country people suffer, as well as engage in large scale gluttony. The book ends on a cliff hanger, as 2 royal guards figure out that Emilia is spying on them. The Third book begins with Emilia fleeing, but eventually being captured. Attention then shifts to the organization, who have been rallying public support, and in the midst of October, launch a coup, seizing the capital, killing the king, and establishing a Communist State, as well as freeing Emilia. The book ends with Emilia standing on the balcony of the palace the king used to live in, and dropping her scarf to the ground, symbolizing her separation from the past, and her new embrace of the future

As stated previously, the general populace loved the trilogy of books, as well as critics. What also helped attribute to it's popularity, is that Georgi Dimitrov has been seen multiple times reading from the trilogy. The three books are now set to have a film adaptation, as well as the books to be published internationally, although, many predict it will be out right banned in most countries. None the less, the book is to be internationally published and sold.

Labor Brigade Program

Although the Konzask unemployment rate is a low 2.3%, Georgi Dimitrov has taken many steps to lower that number as much as he can, part of which is the recent declaration of the "Labor Brigrade" Program. The program entails the creation of nation wide Labor Brigades, consisting purely of the unemployed and homeless. They are given tools, and tasks, ranging from laying foundations for buildings, or even building new rail lines. Members of such Brigades are given high pay, and are ensured maximum safety in their conditions to compensate for Labor Brigade's lack of tools (cranes, tractors etc). Although the proper machinery can be given to members of the Labor Brigades, it is not only cheaper to keep them away, but it's over all just smarter, as it would be better to produce them for the actual, primary workforce, and for export. Homeless members of the Labor Brigades are also supplied with apartments or small scale housing. As of now, 90% of the participants of the Labor Brigades approve of the Program, particularly from the homeless crowd, as not only do they have a home, but a stable income. This effort has already cut the unemployment rate to under 1%, and is said to keep going down, as regardless of credentials, people can join the labor brigades. Workers in such brigades are strictly supervised by experts to ensure the work done by such brigades aren't sloppy, inefficient or don't meet standards. As a result, many people have begun calling Dimitrov the "Father of the Weak, Ruler of the Strong"

New 10 Year Plan

Finally, the Konzask Communist Party has announced plans for the new 10 year plan. Cities such as Varas, and small towns are set for vast expansion, with office parks, and skyscrapers planned to begin construction. The Varas ports and naval bases are also set for expansion, with the vast construction of new factories, civilian and military are planned all across the nation. Konzask, well known for it's superb infrastructure, even have plans to expand that. The 10 Year Plan also set the goal to increase trade, and over all relations with foreign powers Primarily Quangsuh. However, New Trimainia, being a good trade partner, many in the party are calling for increased exporting, and importing to and From Trimania, as well as efforts to improve diplomatic relations, hoping in sorts to "Gain a friend on the other side of the world". The 10 Year Plan also calls for the construction of a second super computer. Despite having one already, many scientists in Konzask want a new, fully modernized one to the standards of today, as well as the near and far future. The old one is going to be sold after the completion of the new super computer. However, not to the highest bidder, but to whom the party chooses. Currently, there are two contenders, Quangsuh, to help out their slower economy, and cement friendship with a fellow communist nation, however the second choice is New Trimainia, as Konzask believes securing their friendship, will exponentially increase their abilities for international trade, and diplomacy.

Cooperation between Konzask and Quangsuh

The KCP (Konzask Communist Party) accepts the invitation presented by Konzask, siting the need to co-prosperity in such a turbulent time. The KCP is also open to constructing an Embassy in Safingrad, as well as possible negotiations for further economic, research and military cooperation. Georgi Dimitrov even stated that

"The Konzask and Quangsuh people, although varying in race, culture and color of our skin, are united in our immortal ideas of justice, rights of the proletariat and equality. Thus together, we must see the prosperity of our states, hand in hand unto the dawn of freedom"

The KCP as well proposes a more sufficient trade deal, that will benift both parties greatfully. In exchange for raw materials, such as steal, oil etc, Konzask will supply Quangsuh with electronics, ranging from smart phones, laptops, military radios etc, as well as varrying foodstuffs (meat, dairy, bread). With the prospect of cooperation with Quangsuh, President, and chairman of the party Georgi Dimitrov decided to adress the nation, and the world with a speech, that is to be broadcaster live. Here is his transcribed words:

"Brothers and Sisters of Konzask, today, our banner flies higher then it ever has before. We stand as a living defiance, to the expectations of the world. All across the globe, the liberty, equality and peace of communism is denied and slandered, brothers and sisters, brutally slaughtered for there beliefs. And in 1944, when the Monarchists were overthrown, and we promised to raise Konzask into the modern world, we were mocked! Well, look at us now, near century later! We've transformed our self from a hovel of peasant farmers, to industrialists, and modernists. We've reshaped the army into a large cohesive sword of the working people. We have lifted millions out of poverty, and continue to do so. We have even conquered the atmosphere, as our satellites, still stand in orbit! We stand her today prosperous, and defiant of expectations, and we shall continue to grow stronger day by day. Now, our comrades in Quangsuh, who share in our immortal dream, reach out to us in calls of solidarity, it is our time to grow together, side by side, into a new dawn. I say to you my fellow workers, there is a specter haunting the world, the specter of Communism!"

Dimitrov's speech was met with thunderous applause and cheering, as the new 10 year plan is slowly beginning to show itself, as more details are to be given later on.

Reaction to Communist Cooperation
The Minachian government has expressed concern over the new Konzask-Quangsuh alliance, with Defence Minister Matthaeus Vorenius stating that “It is always worrisome to the honorable and free countries of the world when these sorts of nations begin working together... we ought to keep a very close eye on them.” However, no direct action - such as sanctions - has been taken at this time.

Red-Leaning Literature Banned!
In other news, the Ministry of Public Security has declared the Konzaski book series “The Girl With The Red Scarf” to be seditious material, banning its printing and sale in the Empire on account of “sympathizing with and encouraging Bolshevik uprising.” Many literary critics have also condemned the books, with one stating that “It’s almost pathetic how thinly veiled this propaganda piece is, not to mention how contrived the plot is and how flat the characters are. How any sane person could enjoy this is beyond me. 1/10.”

Red Scarf Film in Production

With internal rating for the trilogy "Girl in the Red Scarf" at an all time high, and surprisingly good reception internationally, at least from Trimania and Quangsuh, the film has entered the production, with the authors direct input being present to ensure a "faithful adaptation". It was also publicly stated that practical effects will be the primary source of effects to decrease the effects of possible aging with the film. Trailers are already being made. Production quality is high, as well as the usage of highly professional actors. Although like the book, the movie is pro communist, and due to the Trimanian reader base of the book enjoying it from a politically neutral angle, the director has stated they can remove explicit communist references from the Trimanian copies if the Trimanian government requests them too, after all they are good trade partners, and are willing to make small tweaks such as what was previously mention, as to not accidentally provoke disagreements between the two governments, with the KCP stating that the "Trade between Konzask and Trimania is devoid of politics, and we will respect there wishes as we hope they will respect ours"

In response to Minachia banning the book, not much is really said, other then off hand comments stating that it's "Pathetic for a so called 'free nation' to silence global media", or that it's "humores the Minachian government has riled itself up over literature, it already deems inferior". No efforts to get the book unbanned however are being made, in the end the decision is a Minachian one and they will respect it, but it still does get an occasional chuckle out of an official or two
