Potential Constitutional Reform!

Consul Joannes Norbanus today announced - ten days before national elections - that the Imperial Government has begun considering drafting major constitutional reforms for Caero-Minachia. He said, quote, "I believe it's time we faced the fact that our current apparatus of government, fundamentally, was not designed for our nation in her current form. It was formed in the 1960's for the then-new Republic of Minachia, a country which, although the inheritor of the system of the old Empire, was much smaller and decentralized than our new Empire. To that end, should I be reelected, I will form a committee of top governmental officials and constitutional experts in order to draft changes to our country's constitution. Should I be defeated in the coming days, I also strongly encourage my successor to do the same."

He went on to explain that among the changes thus discussed within the Imperial Council include the introductions of a lower house of legislature, restructuring of the Senate, restructuring of the judiciary, and changes to term lengths. All changes will need to be approved by the Senate and the Court of Censors, as well as by a national referendum. The Emperor has stated that he will support any changes approved by the people, as long as they "do not destroy our nation's storied institutions or prevent efficient governance."

It is unclear how such a sudden announcement will affect the results of the upcoming election, however most polls conducted in the hours following the announcement suggest general public support.

Portown Press, July 9th 2020

Rioting in cities across Hancock state.

Rioting and protests have been reported in cities across Hancock state, including major cities such as Revere, Chantilly, Jackman and Fryeburg. It’s the majority libertarian public’s response to a new bill in the Hancock State Senate looking to make same sex marriage illegal again. The bill, introduced by District 15 Senator and Republican Mary Snow, been met with controversy regarding its legality and morality, especially in a place well regarded it’s freedom. The senator is an extremely religious catholic and has openly stated she does “not regret“ her decision as it is “clearly stated in the Bible”. Her house is under the protection of Jackman police where protesters have been hurling bricks among other objects at the officers. Both the president and governor strongly oppose the bill and have not commented on the riots.

The 2020 Elections are complete!

After four months of delays due to RRS-CoV-20, national elections were held across Minachia last night. While some seats remain contested and not all ballots have yet been accounted for, it seems that incumbent consul Norbanus has won a second term with about 60% of the vote. Furthermore, it would seem that the Nationals have claimed the majority of seats in the Senate. Congratulations have been given to the party and to Joannes Norbanus, who has promised to continue to rule wisely as he has done before, especially as the government undergoes restructuring as he announced last week.

More detailed reports will be provided in the coming days.

March to the north!
The Nerian military is continuing its rapid advance through obungunda, leaving behind a vast Entarian occupation force intended to keep order while Entaria sets up a provisional government. The allied warlords have also begun upping aggressive action, putting pressure on other warlords as well as Obungundan government forces in the region. As Nerian forces near Repunda, they issue an ultimatum. Ban Corusconian soldiers from using Repunda as a way to attack Neria's occupied portion of obungunda The obvious subtext being an invasion would come following a refusal

Protests Against the Crown!
Protesters, in favor of the recently exiled casino bosses who were pushing for power, gathered outside of the Trimainian Golden Palace yesterday to protest the suppression of other political views. Palace Guard engaged the protesters with riot gear and heavy riot vehicles that are equipped with water cannons. The protesters were dealt with quickly, with 25 out of 200 arrested by the Palace Guard and turned over to the police for "disturbing the peace."

Detailed Election Results
Consul Norbanus has been reelected with 59.6% of the vote. His primary rival, Liberal Group senatorial leader Martinus Duronia, came in second with 30.3% of the vote. The remaining 11.1% was won by several third party and independent candidates.

In the Senate, the Nationals have replaced the Imperialists as the majority party with 152 of 300 seats. Next are the Imperialists, with 69 seats, and the Liberals, with 66 seats. Finally, 13 seats were won by independent and third party candidates.
