Fernusi soldiers continued to march deep into Korintheyan lands. In the aftermath of the assault of the Mevoni village, Mevoni soldiers believed it was Korintheyan raiders who snuck around the edge and attacked. When a Mevoni regiment enters a Korintheyan village, the local elder tell them they aren't associated with the raiders wreaking havoc despite the many weapons found in the village. Angry at the Korintheyans for what they thought was a raid on their homeland, and looking for any excuse to bring revenge, the soldiers disobeyed orders and slaughtered the village. Men, women, and children, all either killed by soldiers or crushed under burning rubble. In reality, what the soldiers saw as evidence for their involvement with raiders, were weapons used to defend against those same raiders. In this war, it seems... Nobody is safe from death.

Strange horsemen speaking an unknown language have begun being spotted in the Southeast of Ferneus. These horsemen are constantly raiding and pillaging the countryside, taking any valuables they can find and burning the rest.

Local garrisons attempt to hold off the attackers to little effect. Those who survive send word to the capital of the new threat.

When word of this reached the Capital, outrage became singular, the Emperor, Low and High Counsels as well as the regional representatives begin a unified call for war. The Emperor orders the mobilization of the Imperial army and immediatly sends it out to fight the invaders, out of the Capital now, they are joined by raiders and sovereign protectors and begin a campaign of unlimited slaughter, thery spare no enemy from death. In the first battle, more than 30,000 Imperial troops, 10,000 raiders and over 100 sovereign launch an assault on advancing Fernusi troops. As the troops force another group of raiders to flee, they pursue them mercilessly, causing an outright slaughter among many of the raiders. As they follow them over into terrain well suited to Korintheyan Horses, they are surrounded and set upon by the overwhelming force. the tide of the war has begun to turn, now that the Imperial Army has become involved, the raiders can add their strength to the well equipped, disciplined, and trained army of the Emperor.

When news of both the new attacking force in the east and the involvement of Imperial forces in the west, the mental health of the Emperor finally snaps. By the end of the day, the Emperor lays face down on the ground, pinned there by two guards, multiple servants lay dead from the Emperor's psychotic break. He is currently deemed unfit to rule, with his sister, Vibella Vernik, acting as regent until the Emperor can recover.

Chapter III: The Field of Blood
Darkness and despair. The sun had been chased ever southward by the great horde. They marched on and on, seeking plunder and riches, and burning everything else to the ground. They all knelt before one man, one great leader. Kavad. Chosen by the sword and the sky, he was destined to engulf the world with his wrath and bring fire to all corners of Loravyth. He delighted in watching it burn. He would make it known that the Veleni had come to pillage and burn and nothing else. He would make it known that he was the end of days. And he would make it known that he was the fall of all empires. May the weak cower in their homes and pray to their false gods. May the strong march to meet them in battle. It matters not for all shall be cut down or kneel before Kavad. He would make it known. No mercy will be shown.

The Veleni continued their push westward, taking all they saw valuable and burning all that was not. Yet they moved slowly, not wishing to overextend themselves. The rulers of the southeast of Ferneus panicked, not knowing how to handle these new invaders. However, one brave voice shined among all of them. He was Ardellan, ruler of a small county in the southeast. With a fearsome voice, he exclaimed that he would crush the enemy who dared plunder Ferneus and that he would mount the head of their leader upon a spike. Rallying all the other nobles, he was given a large force of 11,000 men to beat back the Veleni. Marching southward, he encountered small groups of the horsemen raiding nearby villages and with overwhelming numbers, he killed them all. One group, however, persisted and managed to escape the clutches of the Fernusi. No matter, thought Ardellan, he would merely chase them out.

However, Ardellan was unaware of where the main force of the Veleni was and in chasing the fleeing enemy regiment, he brought himself into a dangerous position. After a week of non-stop chasing, he paused and encamped at a large field, not knowing that Kavad was nearby and ready to pounce. Using clever manoeuvres, he brought himself before the Fernusi army without them knowing and at dawn, he fell upon them like thunder. It was a massacre. Surrounded on all sides, the Fernusi attempted to form a defensive circle, yet they were constantly bombarded by arrows from horse archers, causing them to shatter. Once they had begun retreating, in came the melee cavalry, their large spears ready, crashing into the retreating Fernusi like thunder. Ardellan himself was struck by a loose arrow and his head mounted upon a spike. Almost all the army was dead or captured. Those that were imprisoned were all killed, save for one man, who Kavad interrogated so that he could learn more about Ferneus. Seizing maps found in Ardellan's tent, Kavad learned of the location of a large Fernusi city, ripe for the taking. which he prepared to besiege.

Fear built Fernusi walls. They were right to be afraid.

In response to the invasion in the southeast, the army is pulled back from Korintheya with small garrisons remaining in forts on the border. A delegate is sent to Korintheya to try and negotiate peace with the Imperial army. Mevoni lands are covered in Veleni armies, and thus considered a no mans land by the army. A defensive line is set up around Mevon as generals decide their course of action. Back in the capital, the Empress Temporai (Temporary Empress) attempts to clean up the chaos left by her brother. Military police in Titleki lands are fortified with corrupt officials executed and replaced by more loyal personnel. Workers rights are also enforced, with heavy fines imposed on those who do not comply. This new Empress has made it clear that she will take any action necessary to protect her people.

Upon the western marches of Til-Gur, enemies of the realm lurk. Veleni horsemen frequently raid the border towns, but are still too weak to attempt a foray into the larger part of the country. Villages in the duchies of Negolometh and Ven have been burned to the ground and a large migration of people move westward. Barons in the east and south rise up ad fight the invaders. A large army is assembled by a leader named Nul-au. He meets the Veleni on the open field as they are departing to the south. The Veleni turn to fight, harassing Nul-au's much larger force with horse archers. The Hal-iv fight back bravely, but their left flank begins to dwindle and falter. Nul-au is concerned the line might buckle, and sends a relief unit. This saves the flank and prevents a fleeing retreat by the Hal-iv. Meanwhile, the Hal-iv charge the right, and the Veleni withdraw towards the center. Sensing a weakness in the Veleni lines, Nul-au orders a rush at the enemy. The cavalry of the Veleni easily evades the Hal-iv, but the much looser formation of the Hal-iv makes it much harder to reliably get hits and each cavalry-man is left to individually cycle charge the enemy. The result is chaos. The Hal-iv lose more, but the absence of battle lines results in a battle of attrition, which the Veleni cannot hope to win. After inflicting many casualties upon the Hal-iv, the raiders are forced to withdraw, not without heavy losses of their own. The chaotic charges have trampled many a brave man on both sides, and many lie dead. Among these is Nul-au, bucked from his horse and trampled by Veleni horse archers.

With Veleni forces rampaging through Mevoni lands, the armies begin a campaign to surround and cut off support from the Veleni homeland, whereever it may be. Without support from the homeland, the Fernusi armies will close in on the Veleni, pressuring them and limiting their few supplies from raiding.

Kavad realises this and begins to send small parties to perform hit and runs on these 2 Fernusi armies, disrupting supply chains and inflicting casualties wherever they can. Meanwhile, the siege of Mevon begins. Raiders pillage the countryside, forcing thousands to flock to the safety of the walled city, making the settlement cramped and flooded with refugees, straining its supplies. Once this is done, they encircle the settlement and build siege equipment, which they use to bombard the city. After a week or so, the city begins to starve, but Kavad is merciful and offers peace to the settlement, demanding only one thing. He wishes for 2 or 3 sparrows (or any other kind of bird) from each household in Mevon to be delivered to him.
