They’re dated since they were released from 2006 to 2011 but they’re incredibly goofy and improvised weaponry is a staple of the franchise.
The first game lets you pick up practically any item in the game and use it as a weapon. And I mean practically anything, you can beat the game in its entirety by beating zombies to death with fish or handbags if you want.
Then the second game has combo weapons where you can magically combine two items together to make stuff like a robot bear with machine guns, a literal lightsaber, or an alien mask that shoots lasers from its eyes.

This reminds me that the two definitions missile are, to some degree, contrary to each other. One refers to a projectile that is thrown, and the other refers to a projectile that is self-propelled and guided.
Two examples where missiles can qualify for both meanings that I can think of are air-launched missiles, which have initial momentum from the aircraft, and gun-launched guided missiles, which may be launched with propelling charge. But we stretch it further. A RC plane launched by hand can still be qualify for both definitions, especially with the intent to hit something, which aligns with the implied weaponized use.
