I'd never come across this before. For anyone interested, the phrase actually has its own wikipedia page:

I miss the Occupy movement...

Melenavenia wrote:My first experience with Windows XP was at my after school daycare and I'd just play pinball until I was picked up, but our laptop at home had Windows Vista and I played Roblox on it and I experienced that first.

I mean, the first computer I ever used was in 5th or 6th grade, to learn BASIC, so ... no idea what those were running but it was before Windows, Linux, and BSD existed :)

Then we had typing classes in high school but not younger. I didn't use computers again until college, when I learned how to email using the Computer Science department mainframes that only sent emails between University of California campuses. That was before HTML existed. :)

The first personal computer I owned was hmmm probably a Mac LCIII circa 1994. At my first office internship, I taught myself WordStar, which was the big deal before WordPerfect and later MS Word. At my first real job, we still had dot matrix printers with the green and white striped paper.

I am elderly haha

I always knew one day we'd pick up Joe Biden. Too bad Flohovistan isn't here anymore.

What's y'all's favourite holiday or festival?

My favourite festival is a light-themed festival that takes place each year in my city in October. There are loads of art installations based around light all across the city. It takes place at night and it's really lovely to walk around for hours to try and find all of the art. They also usually have some short music or poetry performances that you can go to, and there's always some really great street food stalls.

Even though I'm no longer religious, my favourite holiday is Pancake Day. My wife and I invite a bunch of friends to our house the weekend before and just make as many pancakes as people will eat and it's a really fun tradition that we've made over the years.
