Totally forgot to respond to this. Just wanted to say that I hope you/anyone here doesn't support the Socialists in this case. Not sure how aware you are but just like the PP have certain hold overs from Franco the Socialists have significant elements of anti-clericalism/anti-Catholicism from the Popular Front/communists in their party and Sanchez is definitely on the worse end of the spectrum. While more debatable, I also strongly object to their stance on the Valley of the Fallen and attempts to convert a truly magnificent church (and the best side of the Franco era) into a "interpretative center" and to bare the doors and forbid the clergy from saying mass there (under the auspice of 'repairs').

I can't remember if I have said anything about the Socialists in Spain on here. Anyhow, I might have supported them, if they were not so anti-Catholic and from what I've read so far is that they want to eliminate the Church as a public institution. In terms of the Spanish civil war I would also in no way have any support for the Republicans because of the murdering of Catholic priest's, religious and lay people. In saying that I also completely oppose Franco and his regime too.
