I'm confused by your now apparently intentional conflation of Palestinians with Arab Israelis. If we can't even use or agree on the same terminology I don't know if we can continue the discussion. Because it always seems like we're talking about two different things. And despite my attempt to clealry demarcate the two categories, you've now deliberately lumped them in together, which has the effect of making it impossible to know what we're discussing.
I would also appreciate it if you stop accusing me of not reading your links. I read all of them. The problem is that they either a) have nothing to do with what we're discussing (Palestinians =/= Arab Israelis), or b) were not concrete examples, but rhetoric from politicians.
Nevertheless, I will say that you've finally given what looks like a pretty concrete example of discrimination, re: land use and development/funding that does not have to do with the West Bank. Land issues seem to be a recurring issue. It doesn't sound like a civil problem on an individual basis, but a more complicated socioeconomic issue based on discretionary actions by the government. But you can see that to some extent in a lot of countries, especially former British countries with their native communities. None of that is good, of course, that should go without saying. But it shows it doesn't make Israel some sort of pariah, since some of the countries criticizing them haven't sorted out their own issues.
I also feel like your example of Arab Israelis being discriminated against because they are not conscripted is imperfect to say the least. First of all, I don't consider conscription to be a positive. It meets the basic definition of discrimination, but it's actually Jewish Israelis who are disadvantaged. Second, nothing prevents Arabs from volunteering if they want to access the finacial benefits you mentioned.
Papal knights and Phydios
What is condemning the actions of the LCN honestly going to accomplish? They've caused problems for some time now.
They've left PLI (Sure they have that right),
They've effectively become a dictatorship under Quebecshire, who has been a part of the government for as long as I can remember.
They've elected San carlos islands, a nation who in the past has caused problems here.
They're harboring renegade nations from our allies (RCN/FCN). Who very well could've had malicious intent leaving the FCN in the manner they did. (Gagium)
Arguably the most important point now is the fact that their founder, delegate, and many others within the region support "Access to Abortion," a resolution that goes against everything RTL stands for.
If you stand against tyranny, people who have caused harm to our allies, and the support of on-demand abortion, please consider which option you've chosen in the poll. I wish things would improve with the LCN but they certainly haven't yet and probably won't.
P.S. I tagged the nations so they have a right to defend themselves.
1. PLI was a dead org. It had nothing to do with the politics of it.
2. Since when is long-serving in an NS government a tyrannical thing to do? And do you even know my role, which, on day to day, is just communicating with department heads and opening votes for the legislature when submitted? I'm literally presiding over this month's nominations/referenda electoral process rn.
2B. You wanna talk tyranny? Waldy banned, blocked, and suppressed people in the RCN for mentioning their official literally breaking the law, and Discord TOS.
3. I don't know what to say about SCI, if you don't like him sorry, I guess..?
4. Tough. Since when is it a problem to "harbour" people who just wanted to leave? Gagium was prett clear about just wanting to be friends but join the LCN. Meanwhile, the RCN welcomed Crimsonfield, who has actually waged war on both the LCN and FCN. Also, an RCN official literally illegally recorded a conversation to get the personal info of players yesterday, but Gagium existing is obviously the real problem.
5. The region is 62.5% against Access to Abortion. I don't plan to apologize for my opinion, but a majority of my region does not share it, so I obviously take that into account and respect it, as I do the long partnership of these regions.
6. Bruh. We aren't tyrannical, the RCN is more tyrannical than us in some ways, especially recently. We did not harm your ally (citation?). We as a collective do not support "on-demand abortion" in any way, and it would be foolish to close embassies of four years over one disagreement not even shared by our majority. You and Waldy are conflict of interest voters given your ties.
EDIT: When I say breaking the law, I don't mean LCN law. I mean Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, and California law.
Viridus, Gagium, and Dragons of Power
1. -
2. If you truly are a democratic region, then that's good. As for Waldy I can talk from experience, I know him to be of good discernment.
3.-
4. If the RCN actually has Crimsonfield in their community that's atrocious. Crimsonfield as you pointed out broke the law and shouldn't be allowed in any community on NS as far as I'm concerned.
5. That's great to hear that the LCN is voting this atrocity. You're entitled to your own opinion but that doesn't change the fact your delegate was joking about still.
6. If we can salvage this longstanding relationship, that would be good.
I like that you kept it civil. Hopefully our two regions can work through this and I'll try and not be so quick to judge next time.
I just do not understand why you have an embassy with this region and after vote for abortion
2. I mean, usually, he is, but on this, he's literally covering up Rhiney's behaviour. Viridus and Fluv have been the more reasonable ones with that.
4. Yep, some people are also letting Rhiney's behaviour go relatively unpunished.
5. I'm not gonna punish people over jokes. Jokes are jokes, they poke fun and lighten topics.
6. This particular issue is just sensationalism blown up, mainly by Slavic Lechia (who banned me off your Discord twice for no reason). UM and mostly everyone else have been completely fine.
Because my personal opinions do not dictate LCN foreign policy...
Otherwise... I'd be a dictator?
Blueflarst and Dragons of Power
Oh and about your director of foreign affairs I warn you you do not have idea the monster that he is. He was capable of bullying me two months to force me out of the region and when that did not work he brainwashed the senate for exiling me. Beware because if i looked dangerous to you for what i did your director is worse
"I would have still called his arguments incoherent, considering the man just spammed the RMB with nonsense and, to my knowledge, has never provided a coherent response to any political issue"
- Ibenta, on Blueflarst
Blueflarst and Viridus
I had no idea there was so much drama on NationStates!
Can't we just go back to talking about less divisive and noncontroversial topics, like Israeli-Palestinian relations?

As you know, the Citizens' Assembly is a new organ of the regional government. Because it doesn't have a speaker yet, Imperii Ecclesia took initiative and opened a vote on the bill, recently passed by the Senate, concerning the number of senators (three), election of senators (cumulative voting), and election of the speaker (plurality voting). When you have time, please vote on that bill here:
https://nsrighttolife.proboards.com/thread/155/assembly-ratification-legislative-elections-act
At present, the regional constitution permits the Assembly only an up-or-down vote on a bill that the Senate has passed. It further sets a minimum "voting period of at least three days." There is no constitutional maximum, so I'll leave the vote open until Wednesday -- when nominations open for the July regional election.
It will be the task of the Assembly's first speaker, in consultation and with the assent of citizens, to develop rules and procedures for the Assembly -- debate periods, voting periods, removal procedures, and the like.
--
Later today or tonight, I'll catch up on message board posts, starting here. Even when I don't log in, I still check the message board from my phone, so I'm aware of the WA and RCN situations, which are bad and unfortunate.
Mfw the only two people who want to break the embassy are
1. The guy who banned me from the Discord twice for no reason against UM's orders
2. The guy with a major conflict of interest who is currently up for banning and blocking people to cover for the literal TOS and lawbreaking of his regional official
I officially have changed my vote to condemning the joke but not breaking the embassy as of right now because I believe it has more to do with the complex regional politics which I do not wish to ever be a part of and know too little about to make a wise decision on.
However I do know what my beliefs on jokes are. I do believe jokes can be a good thing and sometimes even boost the morale of those going through dark times, however I draw the line at making light of other's suffering. I believe today's culture to be too used to doing that. If you can say anything under a joke, where does it end? I also believe that there are jokes that are made too soon. A joke about the Titanic 100 years later can be good, granted it the joke isn't essentially, "Hundreds of people died," "That's so funny lol!" that's sick and immoral and makes light of people's suffering no matter how long after the fact. People dying isn't funny. But if I made a joke about the Titanic a day after the fact and people are, as expected, still mourning, even if the joke is something like, "That iceberg was a Titanic problem for that ship, eh?" most people are going to think that's very rude and not funny. In other words if your joke is saying people are dying/died that is immoral. That is all I will say about that. I haven't heard the joke that members of LCN have made however I don't fancy the idea of laughing at a joke that is described as making light of abortion, an act which is literally murder.
I say that if we are concerned with the well being of society and humanity, which I hope everyone here is, we should make a great effort to make sure that we care for the well being of families which includes the well being of parents and children as seen in the definition of a family. The family is the pillar of society. If the family is under attack, everything is under attack.

Well, it’s a good thing nobody here said that.
Also - it’s not like all Jews live in Israel. In fact, less than half do.
Lol, good one.

While I don't normally like psychologists, I thought both of these articles made valid observations and would be of some interest:

2) "Our Big Fight Over Nothing: The Political Spectrum Does Not Exist": https://heterodoxacademy.org/social-science-political-spectrum/
I know candidate announcements aren't for another few days, but is anyone thinking of running for Senate or Speaker?
Also, do we do roleplay here? Now that I'm on the map, I'm interested in global conquest persuasive diplomacy.
Re: this, I'd broadly agree with Steve Allen who said "Tragedy plus time plus the will to be amused equals comedy."
The thing about abortion is that it is -- for the largest part -- an ongoing tragedy. If it was something that occurred 500 years ago but doesn't any more, then it'd probably be okay to joke about. We can make jokes about the Spanish Inquisition (vide Monty Python) because it was so long ago.
Having said that, I also wouldn't say that any topic is off-limits to humour, especially good satirical humour. I say this, of course, from a position of being a major contributor to a satirical webgame that you're all currently playing. We've got issues about honour killing, human trafficking, rape and -- yes, as we're discussing -- about abortion. These issues cover serious ongoing topics, but equally they don't shy away from delivering jokes either. I think sometimes its not so much a question of verboten topics, but rather about good taste and sensitivity to all points of view.
As an example, Issue 1319 was written by an editor that is largely in favour of abortion, and edited by one that is largely against abortion, though both of us are moderate in our stances in that we believe in some exceptions to our positions. That's an issue about abortions, and discusses a very serious issue -- what if aborting a foetus (that has low chance of life) is the best way to increase maternal chances of survival? And yet it's not an issue that avoids jokes altogether. There's a Minister of Problematic Trolleys as one speaker. Other speakers are mildly hypocritical -- one pro-life speaker has eight children that he never sees, for example. However we stop short of making light of dead babies (as many jokes in the world do, and I could tell you a few as exempla, but you wouldn't appreciate me doing so) because that's poor taste and an insensitive approach to the ongoing tragedy of human foetal deaths.
To swing this back to topic, I think however that while it's allowable for folk to make jokes, and allowable for people to have a pro-choice stance, it's also entirely sound for a region that is explicitly about Right to Life to cut off links with a region that is explicitly against that stance.
My main nation's region, Forest, wouldn't think twice about cutting off links with a region that has explicitly anti-environmental views. We respect the rights of other folk to adopt the Trump style environment-denier stance, we just don't want to be associated with them. On the other hand, while most Forest folk (like most people in the world in general) lean towards pro-choice rather than pro-life, that stance is not an issue when it comes to embassies, because the region's raison d'etre is environmentalism, not pro-choice.
It just makes no sense for this region to act differently when it comes to explicitly anti-life views. If a few people there are pro-choice, that's a matter for persuasion and discussion. But when a region formally takes that stance, its time to cut off ties.

Poland's Duda narrowly beats Trzaskowski in presidential vote
The National Electoral Commission said Mr Duda had won 51.2% of the votes.
It is Poland's slimmest presidential election victory since the end of communism in 1989.
One of the major issues of the election was the future of the country's strained relations with the European Union.
Mr Duda is a social conservative allied with the government led by the nationalist Law and Justice (PiS) party, while Mr Trzaskowski is the socially liberal mayor of Warsaw.
Fantastic news.
I do not agree... PiS is way too submissive towards the US and they sell national firms and property to companies from other countries...
Poland getting allied and being submissive to them seems like a curse of our nation since our initial parting. Be it USSR or USA, or even UK. A big country that doesn't care much for the good of our country that is only "collecting allies" in case or for a bigger threat. European Union is not the best, considering it is mostly of german and french influence, but the alliance with the eastern european countries would be better for Poland than US or EU would be.
Since PiS rules in Poland all prices went larger and many state "funds" were raised, which many times are way bigger than the taxes that were supposed to be lowered, but were in truth only switched from one place to another, or even made bigger in some places. VAT did get lower in many cases, but that was not lowering the tax, but rather changing the way it is collected and its basis.
I have officially opened another region for roleplay as we were not allowed to roleplay in this region, at least for now, as my stance on roleplay is completely different than the rest of the government at the moment.
Oh, that's too bad. Is anyone from here active?
Well I could argue that Civic Platform is too submissive to the E.U. and they are positioning themselves as being the 'party of Europe' in Poland, no doubt they will argue for even more integration with the rest of Europe, wanting to tie the economy more and more with the single market, resulting in German-Franco monopolies. Not to mention more interference from the European troika, the European Parliament, the European Commission and European Court.
Poland's relationship with the U.S. is perhaps the best one given its surrounding political geography. The U.S. is powerful enough to ensure that countries such as Russia will not be too quick to apply pressure to the country, whilst it is far away enough to not politically dominate the country's political-economic structure, unlike the E.U.. In terms of other Eastern European countries I highly doubt Viktor Orbán of Hungary would be open to a party like Civic Platform and vice versa.
Whatever the PiS's failings in their economic policies may be it sure is a lot more better than neo-liberalism and if Civic Platform's former leaders are anything to go by, Donald Tusk for example, Poland would be better off with PiS in the long run.
I'd also say that my main reason for liking Duda is because of his strong stances on issues like support for family, the public role of the Church, opposing LGBT ideology from creeping into Poland from the West and his stance on not allowing the E.U. to interfere with issues of national sovereignty. The PiS being economically on the left is also an attraction too.
