The Oath:
"Look, I do not what you say mom, I am going to abolish the monarchy since it is a republic. I am going to let the Republicans win the election and have a state atheist as our official religion. I do not care what you say." Said Mikasa. They had just landed in Neo Toyoko airport. It had been a rocky trip. Due to the war going on within the Neo Japan region, they were not allowed to visit for months, that is until President Sora signed a peace treaty with the The slavskagrad commune to stop attacking the F.A.N.J.N. and the Free State of Neo Japan. Now, there were out of the airport and stepping into over a 1000 years of history. From the revolutions which overthrew the monarchy and fascist regime to the rapid industrialization and the fall of the Neo japanese state. After site seeing with Mikasa's 'mother' Jazmine, they arrived at the site of one of the most important events in Neo Japanese history, the Hall of Mirrors in downtown Neo Toyoko where Kurio Ochi no Itomari led a rousing speech to a crowd of 10 thousand people as he declared his Declaration of the Rights of Humans, starting the 2nd Japanese Revolution against the fascist government and created the Neo Japanese State. Even though it was laid to ruins during the revolution, it still stands as a historic place which is protected by the now Socialist Republic of Japan.

"It is beautiful really. How just a single man turned one event into a people's uprising. And thus created an entire nation. But, it is no longer here...Well no more!" Said Mikasa as she stands on one of the broken pillars of the Hall of Mirrors. "I hereby declare that I shall not rest until my father's republic has bee restored to it's former GLORY!" MIkasa said passionately as Jazmine facepalms her head.

"Ok, first of all. I did pretty much the same with the Uyghur Revolution, and still havent seen you call it beautiful. Im not asking you to not have preferences, but at least try to hide them." Ilham said, slowly walking next to her.

"And second of all, when i tell you what to do, you do it. You have lived with the Uyghurs for 18 years, but i made them. These people love two things, Allah and me. I fought with them, i freed them and i brought them to heights they couldnt have imagined 50 years ago. I know half of my people's surnames, and i have been at war alongside everyone's grandfather or father. There is a reason "Ilham" is the second most common name."

"I was once like you. Trust me, i didnt like the monarchy either, and im not sure i like it too much nowadays. I have tried to modify it in order to avoid being a tyrant and i think i somewhat managed to. But truth is, these people need something to believe in. Someone to believe in."

"I'll die, you'll get the throne and you'll forward the position to your cousin. End of the discussion." She said, shooting her daughter a glare like she never had seen "Its the very least you owe this country"

Drugs, if you use the definition "something and often an illegal substance that causes addiction, habituation, or a marked change in consciousness", which I would say is the second most popular definition of that word, are inherently bad. They all form a chemical drug dependency in your brain, and most have inherently bad physical, mental, or social effects.

Even if every single drug caused physical dependency - which they don't - my point is that there is nothing "inherently bad" about being physically dependent on something, or something causing dependency*. We are all dependent on a lot of different things - I am physically dependent on a certain drug which is prescribed to me, which has no recreational use, and which I must take regularly for the sake of my health. It has both positive and negative side effects. Is this "bad"? Would I be a more moral, good or correct human if I did not have to take this drug?

There is also nothing "inherently bad" about a substance having side effects - mental or physical. Food can make you lethargic or energized; lotion can make your skin soft; peppermint oil can enhance memory recall; pollen makes you sneeze; and anything can be deadly if you're severely allergic to it.

Why are effects like "makes everything really funny for 6 hours" or "makes colors look really cool" inherently bad?

Drugs having negative "social effects" is like, literally only because drugs are criminalized and stigmatized in society.

*"Dependency" as in drug addiction is more of a reaction to societal circumstances anyway, which you seem to recognize. Rats don't get addicted to cocaine when they have friends and nice houses, they just do it for fun sometimes at parties.

You know what? You're right.

The negative effects of drug use are caused mostly by overbearing drug policies and social stigma which forces drug users to live in even worse conditions that non-drug users have.

There are effects that are causal, but rather in the opposite direction, as in - having or being X could cause you to use drugs, not the other way around.

Good talk.

In a left - wing utopia (or whatever communist/socialist structure you want to imagine) the state should give free food, water, energy, education, health, therapies, medicine, every kind of possible service, AND recreational drugs? What is your opinion?

Well, if you're talking about an actual fully realized "left-wing utopia" then there would be no state to give away anything.

Drugs would probably be produced in communities or traded with other communities who have the capacity to produce them, just as food or other services, I presume.

Im just assuming Ill be dead before full utopian communism is achieved so i tend to focus on the current situation. But I can already grow my own supply so it wouldnt change my habits

Welcome to TCB! Glad to have you. I'm sure you will have a good time here. We play games and hold events on our Discord, have an active regional government, and generally have a pretty nice pan-leftist community here. If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask!

depends on what you mean by give. do i believe we should mail everyone a monthly supply of, say, heroin? no. i do believe in providing communities with drug centers, educational facilities where you can partake if you so choose in a safe environment, with staff on hand should things go awry. it's simply a matter of materialist thinking, we live in this world and drugs are a part of it. wishing that weren't the case is a waste. people are aware of, want, and seek out these substances. just accept that reality, and make life better for people. that's the goal, yeah?

people often use drugs as an escape from the conditions of their life, right? if one is truly against drug use, then improving society so people's lives are better is the ultimate cure.
