Admiral Henning looked out from the deck of his carrier. The Gustav was a sturdy ship, small yet reliable. It certainly couldn't hold its own, but that was what aircraft were for. Ahead of him was a beach. It looked nice enough, yet the sheer emptiness was unpleasing. It usually was to Henning, especially wherever there should be people. The one good thing about empty was that it meant undefended.

They'd sailed for the Mouth of Timor and aimed west, and so far hadn't encountered any resistance. The mission was already off to a good start. As they reached the beach, the spy planes kept traveling inland. They'd inspect several miles around the landing zone, and figure out exactly where they were. 4 Fighters went with them. The transports had pulled as close to the shore as they could, and the offloading began.

The choppers went first, dropping off men to secure the beach. Then, landing craft slipped out, and soon an Ikean army stood on Minudan soil. 10,000 men, and the trucks, tracks, and guns to go with. Henning planned to keep his tanks, one infantry brigade, and all his special equipment on the transports. Rocket artillery wouldn't mix well with jungle, so they'd just sail up the peninsula along with the advancing troops. The two infantry brigades on land would establish camp for the night.

Henning thought about when the troops would start to march forward. Progress would be slow, but they had trucks, and their artillery was quick to tear down and set up. One brigade would stick to the coast, the other would search for a road inland. Choppers would carry preliminary parties forward, escorted by fighters. Naval strike fighters would stay to defend the carrier and transports, and the host of warships that made a ring around them. The spy planes would inspect the land ahead; the minesweeper and subs the sea. What little air power Henning had would go to provide his men what shielding they could get. Any advantage in a civil war as brutal as Minuda was worth taking.

With any luck, they'd find some Minudans soon enough. Henning just hoped they'd turn out to be the friendly ones.

What's this about? I'd like to join any vehicle racing event since my nation is essentially based entirely on car culture and so on.

It’s a SR racing competition called Race Around Raccooniah, where you get to race around the country.

Okay, I'm not on SR anymore but I'd like to compete nonetheless. Can I, nonetheless, race in this event? You can void me after it's over, I don't mind it, I just want to compete for the sake of competing.

It’s all for the sake of competition. So sure.

Darekaga watashi no zubon o mimashita ka?

The vast majority of the Lapathiyan Revolutionary Army, some 130,000 strong, has arrived at the border with Guyomartand. They have marched day after day, singing the Marseillaise as they go. This song ends ominously, “Let us march, let us march, that impure blood may water our fields!”. A tremendous chain of defensive fortifications, including trenches, barbed wire, automatic machine guns, defensive artillery, concrete pillboxes, earthen banks with wooden spikes, guard towers, chain-link fences with more barbed wire at the top, electric fences, landmines, concealed pits with spikes at the bottom, spotlights, radar, stone walls, moats, and trip wires is being constructed. This immense fortification, called the Torvashov Line after a legendary Lapathiyan warrior, will empty all of Lapathiya’s emergency defence treasury. The Lapathiyan troops have been issued all live ammunition Lapathiya possesses. They are accompanied by medics and the Revolutionary Army Choir, which inspires the troops with tunes such as the Internationale. The troops are now strung along the border, manning the fortifications and gathering in huge camps. Local militias of armed rural peasants are also notified and patrol the open fields and sparse patches of dense subtropical pine forest in the west by day and night, while in the Anatev Rainforest in the east they have formed large partisan bands. Lapathiya insists that it will not be the one to provoke a war, and asks Guyomartand to not inflame the crisis any further, reminding the Empire that this act is only precautionary, and undertaken to prevent Guyomartand from doing anything foolish with ease.

In the west, somewhat. It’s made up of scattered woodlands of subtropical pines, and also has wide open fields. In the east, near the coast (my northeasternmost region), it has a warm oceanic/tropical rainforest climate, with heavy undergrowth and tall trees.

That would be very nice of you! Thanks for the offer! Actually, though, what I need atm is monies. I just literally emptied my entire defense treasury to build the Torvashov Line. If you could send me some funds (plus some sweet Southern tea?) that would be much appreciated and very helpful.
