That's cool what kind of job do you have?

Today is one of those days to go full Sith but not sure exactly what pissed me off yet. Maybe it has something to do with today's date being May the 5th. If I haven't lost any limbs by the end of the day I know I haven't gone full Vader.

Nope.

Apostate wrote:That is a shame, but India also has like 5 times as many people to vaccinate....logistically it must be nightmarish.

Yep , but one good news - Sputnik V vaccine has been approved in India. Gift from Russia , but will be made in India. As of now , there are two vaccines in India - the AstraZeneca and the Covaxin. Covaxin is an Indian vaccine , indigenous to India and the only Indian vaccine. But Covaxin's efficacy is lower than AstraZeneca and Sputnik V.

I still don't plan on getting the vaccine. But to each their own.

Its still a free country. I got my double tap done with mostly because of my kids being in school and likely to "unwittingly share" Chinese SARS with me to my great pain and sadness. I tend to catch anything that is virulent at any point in time, always have!

To me personally I don't understand not getting the vaccine, but I also believe each individual should be free to make their own choice on the matter.

Some people have adverse reactions to any vaccine that they are given and don't want to take chances with their lives. One girl that I work with is just such a person.

I am OK with people who for medical reasons simply cant get the vaccine. But since all vaccines rely on "herd immunity", those that opt out benefit from those of us who do opt in. That feels unfair, and I think we should come up with some creative ways to make sure they pay their way. Some quick ideas offhand:

Make them wear a full body bio suit and mask until they get the vaccine,

Make it compulsory they wear a scarlet N on their chest, for non-vaccinated

Prohibit and ban them from all public spaces

Tax them at a higher rate.

Just a few offhand ideas, what say you all?

My immune system is pretty good. I'm pretty sure I caught a mild case of Corona before it was on the news. I was with flu like systems for about a week and nothing ever since. And that's with being around co-workers who caught it and going in public places that were labeled hot spots during the whole thing up to now.

Yeah, hand washing is pretty universal as a best practice. We still have to put our masks on to go into stores and bars, but you can take them off when you are seated at the bar or a table. In a store or church you have to keep it on the whole damned time. I hate them, but I must say fewer colds since it started, I have only had 1.

That and the masks seem to help those with allergies. I'm glad I don't have allergies also. I hate masks and feel blessed I don't get allergies

Yeah, and that makes sense. But for the average person, their chances of fatality/serious health concern are higher from not having the vaccine than from having the vaccine (though it's quite low in both cases).

It seems like I have a cold more often than I don't, mask or not. My respiratory system and sinuses are garbage.

For the past few months , I've been boosting my immunity by drinking herbal Ayurvedic concoctions .As for the vaccines , from my perspective AstraZeneca is far better than Covaxin , though Covaxin also has a comparatively higher efficacy rate against new strains of COVID-19.

In the Northeast we have Moderna and Pfizer, and they both are rated pretty well. I gather there was an issue with the Johnson and Johnson one shot vaccine however. I had bith Moderna ones so Idk.
