The Dictatorship of Hatful is a colossal, environmentally stunning nation, ruled by Jamie with an iron fist, and renowned for its closed borders, enslaved workforce, and prohibition of alcohol. The hard-nosed, cynical, humorless population of 4.577 billion Hatfulians are ruled without fear or favor by a psychotic dictator, who outlaws just about everything and refers to the populace as "my little playthings."

The enormous, corrupt, moralistic, socially-minded, well-organized government juggles the competing demands of Defense, Law & Order, and Administration. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of StarYen. The average income tax rate is 83.2%, and even higher for the wealthy.

The strong Hatfulian economy, worth 438 trillion yen a year, is driven entirely by a combination of government and state-owned industry, with private enterprise illegal. However, for those in the know, there is an enormous, deeply entrenched, highly specialized black market in Arms Manufacturing and Furniture Restoration. The private sector mostly consists of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, but the government is looking at stamping this out. Average income is 95,705 yen, and distributed extremely evenly, with little difference between the richest and poorest citizens.

Toothpaste is a mealtime delicacy, barbed wire entanglements and guard towers surround the StarYen Natural History Museum, waste collection professionals have been canned, and sick days are on the rise. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Hatful's national animal is the Owls, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its national religion is Christianity.

Hatful is ranked 14,039th in the world and 1st in Evercrest for Highest Average Tax Rates, with 83.22 Effective Tax Rate.
