The Cybernetic Republic of Protoland is a mammoth, orderly nation, ruled by King Crypto with an iron fist, and notable for its rum-swilling pirates, unlimited-speed roads, and rampant corporate plagiarism. The hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical population of 6.915 billion Protolandians are rabid consumers, partly through choice and partly because the government tells them to and dissenters tend to vanish from their homes at night.

The relatively small, corrupt, pro-business government juggles the competing demands of Defense, Industry, and Administration. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Proto-City. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 18.7%.

The frighteningly efficient Protolandian economy, worth 975 trillion bitcoins a year, is broadly diversified and led by the Retail industry, with major contributions from Arms Manufacturing, Information Technology, and Gambling. Black market activity is frequent. Average income is an impressive 141,095 bitcoins, but there is an enormous disparity between incomes, with the richest 10% of citizens earning 749,150 per year while the poor average 14,039, a ratio of 53.4 to 1.

Ten thousand Protolandian soldiers recently invaded a nation occupied by two senior citizens and a dachshund, chrome-clad space marines are such stuff that dreams are made on, turnstile jumpers grow up to be tax cheats, and photographers have to apply for a license to photograph King Crypto. Crime, especially youth-related, is all-pervasive, perhaps because of the country's complete lack of prisons. Protoland's national animal is the synth, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation.

Protoland is ranked 247,005th in the world and 16th in Foxtopia for Most Cultured, scoring 63 on the Snufflebottom-Wiggendum Pentatonic Scale.
