Large corporations tend to be above the law, and use their financial clout to gain ever-increasing government benefits at the expense of the poor and unemployed.

The relatively small, moralistic, pro-business, well-organized government is primarily concerned with Defense, although Law & Order and Industry are also considered important, while Environment and International Aid are ignored. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 8.8%.

The thriving Shadow Queendomian economy, worth 128 trillion coins a year, is broadly diversified and led by the Gambling industry, with major contributions from Retail, Information Technology, and Automobile Manufacturing. Average income is 76,815 coins, but there is a large disparity between incomes, with the richest 10% of citizens earning 323,966 per year while the poor average 11,799, a ratio of 27.5 to 1.

There's a bustling black market for vegetables, hunters often become the hunted, half-submerged and flooded seaside hotels are technically still next to the beach, and auctioneers practice saying "lightly used tank" with a straight face. Crime is moderate, possibly because it is difficult to make it through a day without breaking one of the country's many regulations. Shadow Queendom's national animal is the ghost, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation.
