The People's Republic of Verasae is a large, efficient nation, renowned for its compulsory military service, irreverence towards religion, and restrictive gun laws. The hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical population of 115 million Veris are kept under strict control by the oppressive government, which measures its success by the nation's GDP and refers to individual citizens as "human resources."

The relatively small government juggles the competing demands of Education, Welfare, and Healthcare. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 9.7%.

The thriving Verian economy, worth 7.73 trillion Swas a year, is broadly diversified and led by the Beef-Based Agriculture industry, with significant contributions from Automobile Manufacturing, Woodchip Exports, and Furniture Restoration. Average income is 67,186 Swas, but there is a large disparity between incomes, with the richest 10% of citizens earning 322,701 per year while the poor average 8,165, a ratio of 39.5 to 1.

The military refers to helpless combatants offering surrender as "sitting ducks", parents who fail mandatory parenting classes risk having their children taken away, the public health bureaucracy is wrapped in miles of red tape, and little kids often wonder why strange grown-ups are following them around the soft play areas. Crime, especially youth-related, is relatively low. Verasae's national animal is the Green Dragon, which soars majestically through the nation's famously clear skies.

Verasae is ranked 55,823^rd in the world and 1^st in Seraphim Palace for Largest Pizza Delivery Sector, scoring 3,468.67 on the Pepperoni Propulsion Productivity Index.
