What I seem to notice here, is that the country seems to have tolerated Drim's antics for quite some time, enough so that he has become infamous for his actions and reactions to such things.
It seems like nothing was really done about him up until he took it upon himself to try and cause something to happen.
The moment he mobilized an armed force, and decided to physically take over a building belonging to the state, that is when it appears that the country's government had enough of him.

What I take away from this, is that Free Speech is a tolerated right, but that doesn't mean you are free to act in any way that you'd like. The moment that Free Speech becomes 'Extremism' in such a way that it incites action, is where the state seems to snap it's fingers and have things crushed from there.

However, it should be noted that people on the extreme fringes like Drim with similiar ideas about race wouldn't really been ever tolerated to gain enough popular public support to win and infiltrate the current establishment to slowly normalize and promote their inevitably murderous worldview as a valid and alternative way to run the SFSR by the security apparatus of the country. Velvet and her supporters will not and never allow such a scenario where only 60% of the population still have a grasp on reality while the other 40% are increasingly living in an alternate reality with their own accepted facts and logic fuelled by extreme paranoia and xenophobia bordering on mental illness.

By all means neccesary if that what it takes.
