G'day y'all, Waiban is back again with the Fifth Run of the NS Card Hunger Games! Today, I am proudly introducing the new DUO Reward System! Now you can play CHG with a friend (or a puppet if you're lonely)! A total of 46 teams with two each can participate. The DUO Rewards is going to be used in the Sixth Run as well.
How to Participate & Rewards
Tributes must send One (1) Epic Card and a telegram for confirmation; be sure to tell me in the TG who your partner will be. No need for a second Epic for your partner. If a tribute and his partner win the CHG, they'll both receive a Legendary Card! Or... if you partnered with your puppet instead, we will send both legendaries to your main account.

It’s hard to believe it’s been nearly five years since I founded my Nation, wow.
The Nordic Territories Invite you to participate in our winter in July event Your Nation has decided to join in the annual dog sled race to the South Pole. The route follows the historical trail paved by the first men to reach the bottom of the earth. Starting from where the first Antarctic Expeditions ship got trapped in ice on the Ronne Ice Shelf the course follows a 700 mile trail that ends at the International Antarctic Research Station near the pole. How the Competition will work: The Race will be played for 30 rounds (30 days) or until all racers have finished the race or dropped out The factors change daily by the roll of 4 20 sided die Certain Rolls on the die could end in being unable to continue the race. (Ex: rolling a 0 on sled and a 0 on supplies could mean that you break a runner on your sled and don’t have enough spare parts to fix it.) The higher the roll the better the run. However, some high roll situations may not be the best. (Ex: 18 +5 for dogs, 20+10 for supplies, 15+5 for Environment, 17+0 for Sled. Your Dogs are rested and ready to go, you have plenty of supplies, actually you have overstocked on supplies and your sled is heavier than usual. Instead of the runners skimming the top of the thin fresh and sticky layer of snow, the runners cut into it and the snow sticks to the skid. This creates more drag than intended and it slows you down. Lose 5 miles.) Registration for this event ends on June 30th, to register send a telegram to awerbar that includes your starting points distribution. Daily Race Updates will be posted on the Nordic Territories RMB daily (or whenever possible). Final Leaderboard will be posted on July 31st The Rewards for this event will be 5 extra points to go towards then next event for first place, 3 points for second place, 1 point for third place Registered Racers:

Etymology

-Dollystana at first was called Dölly Stan by the Swedish. After the Americans came we called it to Dollystania, but that was taken so we changed it to Dollystana.

I struggle to understand who would do this to themselves...
Was wondering how much NS history is currently documented- I don't like the idea of some parts of it completely disappearing off the internet. On my main, I had to dig into some old files to find one of my previous flags to stop it being lost forever (I put it into a factbook that I had created about my flags). I document my personal NS history in a factbook just for information purposes and because I enjoy writing factbooks and dispatches.
I've been thinking recently about becoming an NS historian but only in the future. Currently my main is very busy in Lorania, this one is purely focused on travelling and my other is settled in Thaecia.
I like how many weird sub-communities there are in NS (nomadic, historians, casinos, newspapers, embassy collectors etc). RP, R/D, regional politics and WA communities are the obvious ones and are the most popular, but I do like the weird ones that no-one thinks of.
I do think that it is weird how some people focus solely on the forums, many just on the ever-argumentative general forum (you could go onto another website if you really cared about that more than the main part of NS). Even weirder, some people used to focus on the now-closed 'wing' threads, some people even asking the mods to delete them when these threads closed. Wow.
Not an easy task! NS is so vast, and hundreds of regions CTE each month. And a lot of it happened off-site, on forums, and nowadays on Discord. That can make it difficult to access. I guess the way is to choose an individual topic that interests you, and start from there. There are a few histories archived here, but that only scratches the surface.
I don't think I've come across those. What were 'wing' threads?

The region recognizes that this is an online game, but strives to raise awareness on the things threatening our planet. I sent some questions to my host and am waiting for a response, one I should probably get tomorrow.
I write this completely out of character and as an inhabitant of our Earth. After reading this dispatch I was deeply moved at our place in the universe. How civilizations rise and fall, of no consequence to things out side our small petty planet. I think we should all be extremely grateful to Carl Sagan (the astronomer) who asked that the photo be taken just before Voyager 1 left the solar system. It shows how small our world is, and how much smaller our lives are. But since we seem to be the only life in the universe so far I think that we are much bigger. We may not affect much, but we are an example. Life, and the human race, is cruel and selfish. But also beautiful and compassionate. We are genius and utterly stupid. We cannot be expressed in algorithms or any theories. Life may kill itself in the end, but it will be an infinitely more exciting and wild ride than even the biggest supernova. So I urge you, as people, to ask yourself this:
What the hell am I doing on this pale, blue, and wonderfully strange dot?
