Oh, nothing happened! We just want our citizens to be safe! Thus we have taken precautionary measures to ensure that every home is a safe home! And we can reinsure, none of the security system implemented will be hacked or misused. Orcuo takes its cybersecurity and privacy of its citizens *very* seriously.

I'm sure as a nation that's true, but there's going to be individuals with bad intentions...what stops those people from misusing those security measures?

Hey Wintreath! I hope everyone had a great weekend...mine was so-so, but I survived it. :) The flag poll really took off! I think it might be one of the most popular polls we've done, and it's neat to see how many people created their own flag. I voted the AI option, but I fed the AI my original flag that I created in Paint to get my current flag, so it was really a mixture of both. A few other people told me they did a mix as well...usually found an image on the internet and edited it, which I didn't think of as an option. Just hard sometimes to think of everything possibility to put in a poll!

Also, welcome to Arkhaion (love your flag, what a peaceful scene!), SoLaRess, Hippy Islands, Reimos, The Helsgaardian Empire, and Loid. I hope you enjoy your time in Wintreath! If you have any questions or need help settling in, just let us know here. And if you feel comfortable introducing yourself and telling us what made you decide to join up, I'm sure we'd love to hear from you. =]

It would be concerning if this were offline, wouldn't it? Thankfully in NationStates we're free to run a nation as great...or as terrible...as we want. Or even unintentionally as we don't want because we chose the wrong issue answers. xD

Hi, I've been playing NationStates for a few months, experimenting with different political/philosophical ideologies and collecting cards. My latest nation (Arkhaion) spawned in a frontier region run by raiders, so I thought I'd move to a more peaceful region, and Wintreath seems nice.

Arkhaion renounces post-medieval technology (except medicine) and has a small, peaceful, decentralized government. Arkhaian society is generally inclusive and egalitarian but distrusts outsiders who might seek to disrupt our ways.

Hi

Welcome to all new arriving nations!

Wintermoot, TE5u9, and Reimos

Hey Wintreath! I hope everyone is having a great day :D

We have a new-ish WA resolution, Prisoner Financial Rights. It's passing by a good margin, but the Wintreath vote is more even. Does anyone have any thoughts about it? Maybe if there's discussion about it your delegate will actually read the proposal...

Also, we have some returning nations! Welcome back to Alabama rep, who was recently here, and to Pantoufle, who has been here for a much longer while! If either of you would like to say hi here on the region page, feel free. ^-^

It's nice to meet you and hear more about your nation. Your flag really does vibe will what you want your nation to be, and we are usually a peaceful region and community. Was there an ideology you had fun doing with any of your nations? I usually just pick the choice that I'd pick if it were real life, and whatever nation that ends up being is that it is. xD

I'm also curious, was there an event that caused your society to renounce technology? Usually when I see that it's because there was some kind of apocalypse in their past. And are there people who want to embrace technology? How does your society deal with them? Sorry for all the questions, I just think it's a neat premise for a nation.

Hi guys, I came back to the region. I’m back here here because there’s a Minecraft server I came back for you from India. I am very curious if you wonder about my nation so I’ll give you a few facts. Alabama rep is no longer a republic but is now a United States and the national animal is the yellowhammer and the people are proud of their civil rights and the welfare and defense forces and education and scientific advancement are very high the motto is from freedom we spread out the universe and the national anthem is home sweet Alabama and it’s further subdivided into 67 states and the capital and religion and a couple of other things are not established because I haven’t unlocked everything yet well, who thinks they can compete with my technology we already cloned an extinct animal i’d also like some people to endorse me

Can someone tell me how to get into the Minecraft server?

Can I join your guys Minecraft server?

there's a minecraft server?

I did that with my first nation (Thaery). I tried a maternalistic approach with Xgubl, just doing what I thought best for my little children (citizens) regardless of civil rights or political freedoms -- that actually worked out pretty well. I also tried choosing the option I'd be least likely to pick IRL with Vjoms -- those poor people! And a sort of Star Trek science-oriented approach with Untied Plants.

The people of Arkhaion have seen the harms technology has inflicted on other societies -- WMDs, environmental degradation, unemployment and inequality, depression and social isolation, and so on -- and read the reports of anthropologists and others who surveyed happiness in both developed and undeveloped societies. We concluded that technology has not made people happier (except insofar as it makes them healthier and enables them to avoid starvation), and possibly less happy. We find fulfillment in the simple tasks of everyday life that help ourselves, our families, and our communities.

We recognize that some technology is helpful -- we do use wheeled carts, iron tools, wind and water mills, sailboats, and the like -- but we feel that too often in the outside world, new technologies are adopted with little or no consideration of the human and environmental consequences. To our children or any others who want to adopt some new technology, we say, "Go out into the world and live in a society where that technology is common. Get to know the technology and all its consequences, good and bad. Then come back and tell us about it. Maybe we'll change our minds." So far, however, nearly all of those who have tried this have returned with their own minds changed and a new appreciation for Arkhaian society.

I've reached the limit of cards I can hold... And I have a lot of packs I can't open. Does it make sense to try to sell some cards or should I discard the most common ones?

Welcome back again! It was nice to hear about your nation. :)

To be endorsed, you'll need to join the World Assembly. The link to join it should be on this page. If you have more than one nation, keep in mind that you can only be in the World Assembly on one nation. Let us know when you've joined, and I'm sure you'll get some endorsements!

Yes, there is! You can read about our Minecraft server here: https://wintreath.com/forums/index.php?board=68 (or click the Minecraft link at the top of the region page).

To join the server, you'll need to be whitelisted by our Minecraft server owner. To get whitelisted, just join our Discord (link at the top of the region page), then ping @Tau Valeria in the #minecraft channel with your username.

That is a lot of experimentation! I'm not sure I've ever met someone who has tried out more things on more nations...sure, other people have puppets, but they're usually for raiding/defending or farming cards. I have a few to chat on some other region pages and for minigames like N-Day. At least you seem to be enjoying NationStates through all of it. :D

What you're saying about the people of Arkhaion reminds me of a lot, especially an article I read a few years ago called "The Tyranny of Convenience", which was about how technology was supposed to free us to develop ourselves as people and as a society, but it's actually caused convenience to become an end of its own...instead of freeing up more time for us to study, interact with each other, or do things, we end up spending most our days on social media or binge-watching videos. I'm also reminded of something I read about the Amish, who actually aren't necessarily opposed to technology and experiment with it when it first comes out. In the case of the car, they noticed that people who had them drove to other cities for entertainment in their free time instead of staying in the community, and that's why they decided not to use them...it took people away from their communities. I feel like that would fit right in with your world of considering human and environmental consequences.

I'm sure you didn't expect a lengthy paragraph about the real world, but your nation touches on things I'm becoming more passionate about as time goes on. I think it would be neat to spend some time there, enjoying a society with less mindless tech and more of the human touch.

Dolcemare wrote:I've reached the limit of cards I can hold... And I have a lot of packs I can't open. Does it make sense to try to sell some cards or should I discard the most common ones?

Usually I discord common and even uncommon cards unless they're nations of people I know or Wintreath nations. You get a small bit of money for each one you discard, so it's not a total loss.

You can buy more card capacity too from your cards page. I think you can buy capacity for 100 more cards at a time, and the cost doubles each time. Donators to NationStates get +100 capacity for free, so those are some options too. Those might not be the exact numbers...it's been a long time since I've had to buy capacity, but that's the gist of it.

Even if they were just smoking weed? I think that's punishable by death in Singapore, isn't it?

Hey! Couldn't hurt, you never know when you'll need a noble person template. I'm still building my nation lore when I have time...
