The Empire of Kratam is a huge, safe nation, notable for its national health service, frequent executions, and stringent health and safety legislation. The compassionate, cynical population of 741 million Kratamians are ruled with an iron fist by the dictatorship government, which ensures that no-one outside the party gets too rich. In their personal lives, however, citizens are relatively unoppressed; it remains to be seen whether this is because the government genuinely cares about its people, or if it hasn't gotten around to stamping out civil rights yet.

The large government juggles the competing demands of Administration, Education, and Law & Order. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Kratapolis. The average income tax rate is 68.9%, and even higher for the wealthy.

The powerhouse Kratamian economy, worth 61.1 trillion Drachmas a year, is led by the Information Technology industry, with significant contributions from Tourism, Book Publishing, and Retail. State-owned companies are reasonably common. Average income is 82,464 Drachmas, and evenly distributed, with the richest citizens earning only 2.5 times as much as the poorest.

The "war on terror" doesn't seem to be making Kratamians any less frightened, the mood of raunchy movies is often ruined by the sound of babies crying, entomologists flock to Kratapolis for its remarkable gadfly population, and in the mighty jungle the lion once again sleeps tonight. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, thanks to a well-funded police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Kratam's national animal is the Horse, which is also the nation's favorite main course.

Kratam is ranked 61,689th in the world and 60th in Aesica for Most Developed, scoring 73.74 on the Human Development Index.
