THE SILENT TYRANT!

The past 45 years for Tianchao is described by one word: Hell. Famine and hunger, civil war and strife, protests and riots, political coups and assassinations. No viable path forward to stability was found under the Tianchao Communist Party until 1980 with the historic split of the TCP into the Tianchao Democratic League and the National Tianchao People’s Conservative Union. This split surely relieved pressure to avoid an internal implosion of Tianchao; however, more deviously, this move was a meticulous, strategic plan crafted by the TCP to remain in power via the illusion of democracy. Both political parties still firmly believed and operated on the principles of democratic centralism and the party state. Both parties, being led by former mid- and senior level officials of the now dead TCP, drafted party constitutions that appear different in areas of economic development, finances, and industrial development; however, both parties still align on matters of the role of the party within society, preservation of culture, national security and defense, and the construction of the Tianchao sphere of influence via the Tianxia system.

1980 saw the victory of the Tianchao Democratic League in the nation’s first democratic election through a three tier electoral process that spans three days. Despite the initial victory in the People’s Congress, the National Tianchao People’s Conservative Union (NTPCU) won the Presidency under Wu Bo, causing a “show” of bureaucracy and gridlock that led until 1985. Seeking to maintain the status quo similar to the TCP, the 1986 Congressional and Presidential elections saw the failure of the NTPCU and the strengthening of the Tianchao Democratic League; however, Wu Bo remained President with diminishing authority within the NTPCU and legitimacy with the TDL. 1986-1990 plays a crucial component because these four years was the implementation of state owned enterprises and steady implementation of government-guided capitalism within the Tianchao Socialist model. Additionally, the implosion of both the USSR and Russia prompted an intellectual mass exodus of specialists, experts, scientists, government officials, and citizens into Tianchao. These specialists from the defense, STEM, finance, industrial, and economic sectors were granted immediate citizenship and employment within the Tianchao government as advisors, project managers, directors, and managers while working closely with Tianchao officials and workers. 1986-1990 became the first four years of consistent stability and progress for Tianchao so far in the 20th century. However, this still was not enough to keep Wu Bo in power.

The 1990 Presidential and Congressional election proved even more monumental than the 1980 election. Despite institutional progress and revamping from 1986-1990, Wu Bo’s tenure was deemed unfavorable to continue due to his reckless behavior and constant mistakes in party negotiations, loose upholding of party policies and code of conduct, and seemingly uncaring moods. It was because of this, both the NTPCU and TDL approved the impeachment of Wu Bo and bringing forth new nominees for President. The NTPCU gained ground during this Congressional election; however, the TDL still kept a substantial ownership of the seats. This was not the shocker of the election. The shocker was the victory of a mid-party official of the TDL with little to no reputation for the position of President: Kim Yong-nam. This was a gamble the TDL was willing to make for their first official Presidential administration. Kim Yong-nam was part of the Politburo of the People’s Congress of Tianchao and the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the People’s Congress of Tianchao in addition to Wu Bo’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and starting off his political party career serving in the Central Organization Department.

The victory of Kim Yong-nam in 1990 threw many political pundits and analysts off as the expectation was for a senior official within either party to acquire the Presidency for the sake of “safe stability” but the arrival of Yong-nam only provided more questions and uncertainties than answers and comfort. Despite not being quite known, the inauguration of Kim Yong-nam continued as planned with an estimated 7 million in attendance. Appearing with smiles at times and a stern face at other times, President Kim Yong-nam was now the President of the world’s largest developing nation with the largest population and largest military.

In the inauguration speech, President Kim Yong-nam discussed the recent history of Tianchao going back to 1945 but giving a promise of reversing current courses of the nation to return to a golden era over time. Speaking about the importance of the national heritage and culture of Tianchao, Kim Yong-nam gave reverence to the empires and innovations of the Tianchao past as a model for the future. Kim Yong-nam further proclaimed Tianchao as a friend to the world and a contributor to the combatting of poverty, illiteracy, and unemployment. However, on a more serious tone, Kim Yong-nam explained and guaranteed the national security and integrity of Tianchao will be a top priority and defended by all necessary means. Kim Yong-nam decreed Tianchao will be respected within the international community as a true power but it will take time to show the world cannot ignore nor continue forward without Tianchao.

    CLEMENTIA MOORE ELECTED PRESIDENT

After routing the Union Party at the polls on a left-wing populist message,
"boomer" Member of Parliament, Clementia Moore is elected President of the Commonwealth.

WRITTEN BY LEVELL WEBSTER | POLITICS

    ABORIGIN — 14 September 1990

Just a month after the conclusion of the Summer Snap Election, the Commonwealth has spoken and it's Parliament affirmed; Clementia Moore will go on to serve as the nation's 22nd President. In the most substantial rebuff to the Union Party-dominated politics of the last half century, the rise of Moore's "Dawn for Corphye Movement" (DoCM) comes at a time of uncertainty for the Commonwealth. As experts continue to sound alarm bells due to the sudden drying up of the nation's gold mines, and decline in available capital, Corphye looked out onto the horizon - did not like what it saw, and broke with the norm to elect left-wing populists into a near-super majority in Parliament.

The people desire something more than normalcy to solve this impending crisis. They desire fresh solutions to produce not only economic growth, but the progression of our society - from the bottom up! And the middle out!!

        — CLEMENTIA MOORE, In acceptance speech to Parliament after election.

On a platform which centered around strengthening the social safety net - the DoCM campaign called for the expansion of public healthcare options, to include the adoption of a single-payer system, a universal basic income, and anti-trust action against the corporations who they submitted are responsible for the near depletion of Corphye's natural mineral resources. Popular support for these elements placed DoCM at the front of the crowded field during the campaign season, but it was the shocking revelation that an internal government report about the long-term viability of the Commonwealth's mines were suppressed 20 years ago sent shock waves throughout the Pearl Islands. "TWENTY YEARS!!" - a citizen exclaimed during one of President Moore's concluding rally's, embodied the sense of betrayal felt among commoners. The Union Party, the noble giant which has had great influence over national politics since it's Independence in 1833, and near domination since the second world war, had fallen asleep at the wheel - opening the door to a generational change of leadership.

In a world overrun by suspicion, with an utter lack of international institutions on which the Commonwealth could lean on to ease this economic burden - the radical message presented by the 32-year old Moore, was enough to evoke a feeling of hope in looming darkness.

Labor & Progressive Activist William "Bill" Moore was an outspoken critique of the Union Party, who served faithfully as a member of Parliament before his death in 1984 to cancer.

Hailing from the small town of East Bend, Albamarle, the young Clementia Moore was known as the "slender girl with a big brain", and daughter of long-time Member of Parliament, Bill Moore, and Women's Rights advocate, Betty Anne Moore. Their small home was often the host of impromptu strategy sessions, audiences, and even prayer circles - where Clementia could hear laughter, loud debate, and the mystical groans of prayer through the thin plaster walls. It was here that the new President attributed as her "moment of call" - moved, even at a young age, to be that voice crying loud in the wilderness - just as she saw her parents. From this call, Moore would be an active member of the Speech and Debate Club from Middle School up through College, where she received national accolades - before applying those rhetorical skills to the competitive arena of Mock Assembly. She earned a reputation as a skilled policy craftswoman, able to translate the intricacies of legalese into terms that even a child could understand. Such would lead to an internship, and eventual employment, in her father's field office where interactions with his constituents earned her the confidence needed to succeed him when he suddenly died in 1984.

On her first day in Parliament, Moore gave a rousing speech from the back bench on "the pressing needs of single mothers forced to choose between enfamil and the electric bill". Her words, and behind-the-scenes action, lead to the passage of the Women & Mother's Support Act of 1985, which provided much needed relief to single mothers and widow's who were experiencing difficulty in paying their utility bills. Out of an out pouring of support, Moore leveraged her father's legacy and oration to win an internal party election for Caucus Chair, from which she advanced the notion of a party rebranding and injection of "leftist ideals into mainstream discourse. Her rise to Party Leader in 1990 following the resignation of her predecessor was a mere formality to codify the de facto situation. Clementia Moore had masterfully taken the helm of a dying Liberal Party, and built in it's place the Dawn for Corphye Movement.

With many issues facing the nation, and an unpredictable situation abroad, questions swirl about whether this "Boomer" (Person currently aged 44 to 26), has the metal to lead in these times. Yet, with a cabinet stacked with party veterans, industry leaders, and other energetic "young thought leaders", this moment - many submit - is hers to lose.
